Quail Chick Swims to Dad, Gets Foot Stuck

I love how this 2 or 3 day old chick swims across the water and the gets its foot stuck when the dad steps on it. I've seen the mom and dad before but only with 3 chicks. I wonder if there were more. This is a fairly new family visiting the critter ponds in the past few days. Most of the big quail families of up to 45 chicks total in 3 families have moved on to other territory. A 12-chick family is still around, but it used to have 14 chicks. *Note the dove in the background making believe its sitting on a nest. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing.

I can’t tell how deep the water is but you may want to add some pebbles in case the baby quail go in too deep. They can’t swim in the slightest.

The water is pretty shallow and the sides are sloped so it's easy for them to get out of. Thanks for watching and commenting.
