The torture of this series is rereading old chapters and thinking "Wow, I can't wait to hear Skyen's thoughts on this one" to then realize you probably won't talk about it for at least 5 years.
I’m so offended to hear the best panels in One Piece under perform compared to his other stuff cause they are legitimately my favorite series he does and the entire reason I subscribed
59:35: Man. The quiet, sincere, heartfelt "You had the same dream as me. That's One Piece." speech, followed a split-second later by Skyen dunking on (ugh) _Pearl_ one last time, gave me emotional whiplash. (Not intended as a criticism. But still. My poor emotional neck.)
Thank you Skyen for making a series on my favorite manga of all time, in these troubling moments in my life your shorts are something worth looking out for. Thanks 100 for this and cheers for 100 more. See you in the Grand Line!!!
33:00 Kuro getting knocked the fuck out. The intensity of the hatching also goes a long way to sell just how hard his head just got rang. Yes, Kuro has been knocked out of his silhouette, but you can also see his head flinging back even more and it doesn't even have an outline like the rest of his body. That's a really good way of showing where Luffy decked him and where the focus of all that kinetic energy was transferred.
Man, what a journey from start to finish. I'd understand if you chose to stop the series here, but I'm more than interested to hear your thoughts on the next 100 chapters.
Kuro's fake sob story early in Syrup Village is to me a scene that really... could have very easily been more effective, if Oda had just *not* put the reveal that he's actually a pirate in the *same chapter.* Because like, to me it seems like a generally clever bit of writing: First have him antagonize Usopp and make the audience instantly dislike him, then give us his "tragic backstory" maybe making us feel for him after all and think he might not be such a bad person despite how badly he treated Usopp... only to then drop the pretense and say, no, he isn't "that bad"... He is *infinitely worse* than we thought. But I feel like in order for that final twist to land, we kinda needed more than like *ten pages* to sit with the idea that he might be redeemable before revealing that he's a complete monster. I don't mind the ideas Oda was going for with that twist, I just think it's one of those cases where he went through the plot points too fast. Why? idk, probably to get to the overlong fight faster. It's a bit of a recurring issue I have really: The setup phases go by too fast, and then the climaxes are way, way, *way* too long. Syrup Village is obviously pretty minor in that regard compared to Wano, but... it still was an issue.
Thank you so much for making this video! Now I can rewatch this series once a month without dealing with the big video recommendation blocking the screen lol
These shorts were my introduction to your work and its been a joy to be along this ride. You manage to make me appreciate moremon character designs and individual chapters than I ever have before
:D As someone who's only been periphery to One Piece, these shorts are a delight all the same! I can hear the passion behind them and your insight is applicable for all artists and writers
i'm really gonna miss the one piece shorts for the next month, they were actually what convinced me to start reading it! it's really nice having your videos because i'm not good at articulating why i enjoy certain chapters or why certain panels are so emotional, but hearing your thoughts on them is super special for me. super hyped for your analysis of alabasta!
I have no idea how you manage to cram so much detail and analysis into your shorts, but it's amazing to see and hear. The passion you have for the story and the art, it's mind blowing and it serves as a reminder that if we look hard enough, then we can find so much beauty and effort in everything. I can't wait to see you continue your journey, and I know it might not happen, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the eventual final chapter some day.
I came to skyen for the LoL content and subscribed for the LoL stuff and then slowly found out he covers soulsborne, nintendo stuff, final fantasy and certainly not least.... one piece.... like at this point he covers around 80% of all the media I love. It's his one piece stuff that gets me the most emotional though and it sucks to know that it ain't performing well enough. I have recommended this to my close friends who watch one piece and all of them seemed to enjoy it, specially because skyen just "gets it", he understands one piece. Here is hoping that we get to see of this and as soon as I get a stable job I'll become a supporter of the ch. Thanks for the content skyen.
I started reading the manga after this video series started (around the Baratie reviews) and after watching the live action. I have now caught up to the manga and am jonesing for more One Piece content, so keep up the great work!
I love this series. I can feel so much genuine love for the series when you talk about it. Its reinspired my enjoyment of the series and I've been thinking of picking up the manga now.
For many years, I was convinced that I wouldn't read/watch One Piece because of its length. I spouted nonsense about "onE PIEcE fAnS WhEN thEy tELl yOu it gEtS GooD 300 chApTErS iN I pRomiSE". While I still doubt I will watch all of it (1100 episodes is a LOT), having read it and being manga current, I am so glad I did. One Piece has got some masterful art, story, and arcs. Keep doing what you do Skyen, you talking about art in media helps me appreciate it a lot as well because I don't have the same art prowess as you do. It's a shame it doesn't get enough recognition from people, but continue analysing what you do, especially One Piece
Almost 1 1/2 years of One Piece, damn. Weird to think about ow much the story itself evolved in just that short of a time. Not even a full arc happened, but we are in the final stages of OP after all. Although it also makes you realize how much One Piece has changed, how much Oda has changed about his writing style, how even his artstyle changed (and how much he probably worked himself to death to make early OP), and how much he probably deviated from his early plans. Especially the end of the East Blue Saga reveals just how different his plans probably were back then. It's also somewhat personal for me. One Piece has been with me all my life. Literally, as it began serialization in my birth year. The first time I actually interacted with it was watching it on TV as 7 year old. I distinctly remember role-playing as One Piece characters on the playground, and being forced to play Buggy because the Straw Hats were all already taken (I wanted to play as Zoro), and he was the only other character I actually knew (I had seen exactly 2 episodes at that point). Ironically, today Buggy is my favorite non-Straw Hat character, and I like him more than Zoro. But it goes further than even that. Before I loved One Piece, my favorite TV show as a kid was: Vicky the Viking. A show that Oda talked about being the main inspiration behind One Piece, other than Dragon Ball. The main character, Vicky, is a small viking boy who gets scared easily and isn't strong and intimidating like the other vikings (although he can be brave when it counts). Especially not like his father, who is the strongest around and chief of the viking village. For that he gets made fun of, and he doesn't believe in himself, but still wants to go with his father to sea, to have adventures. But he does have an advantage: He is very smart, while the other vikings are not (to a comical degree). He ends up saving the day with his wits all the time. This might also explain why I love Usopp, who is obviously inspired more than any other characters by that show. Basically, what I was trying to say: One Piece is pretty cool, and this series is one of the best analyses of not just the story on paper, but of the artistry and heart that makes the manga what it is.
See the thing I love about this video and the league best and worst skins video is that it allows me to watch all these shorts without having to load up each video 👌
This series is realy good at showing what is missing in OPLA. Not everything, but like the most important thematic stuff. I am still mad that Netflix version does not have Sanji blowing a fishman, but that is just me. And it is realy cool that this video ends on the largest opportunity for adaptation to improve the source material. After Loguetown we will know for sure if OPLA can have its own merit.
I've already watched them all in order as they came out and now I'm here for the full release thank you sir. I leave the comment for the algorithm and a question for everyone, I wanna do some work one piece related, but I'm not sure what to do any suggestions?
oh god, this serie started last year, i wonder how long it will take to cover everything, probably a couple of years and One Piece may be over by then!
I haven't read that many manga yet, I mostly watch just the anime of a serries. But I've heard that the manga of 'One Piece' is amazing and man this series is just showing how right that statement is.
1:16:38 Actually I don't think this is later absorbed into the Voice of All Things as we know Momonosuke also has it and he isn't as perceptive of other's true nature as Luffy. I just think Luffy is just emotionally intelligent enough to know when a person is speaking honestly.
If this series of video do end up being cancelled for lack of viewership, I'd be happy if you released your analysis in text form at least. I love reading your insights on the lore and art
I love watching your panel shorts! Cant wait for the next thousand! 10:48 oda stated with the colour spread of other 2 in commands that zoro was not the first mate.
The torture of this series is rereading old chapters and thinking "Wow, I can't wait to hear Skyen's thoughts on this one" to then realize you probably won't talk about it for at least 5 years.
Ya the thing about how long one piece is arcs like enis lobby are somewhat becoming what is called old one piece now lol
@@Ironcorgi2 I mean, I started reading One Piece when they where in Thriller Bark, so yeah 💀
@@bdletoast09 That's funny since that was when I fell off the first time. Mostly due to burnout. I only started reading again once Wano had started.
I’m so offended to hear the best panels in One Piece under perform compared to his other stuff cause they are legitimately my favorite series he does and the entire reason I subscribed
Sharing it by word of mouth is always helpful :)
Right?! The whole reason i found this guys main channel was through these shorts
59:35: Man. The quiet, sincere, heartfelt "You had the same dream as me. That's One Piece." speech, followed a split-second later by Skyen dunking on (ugh) _Pearl_ one last time, gave me emotional whiplash.

I want to use this to convince people to start watching/reading One Piece

Thank you for compiling these! I was struggling to keep up and I'm sure I missed some!
Omg! I love this it’s so much more accessible then going through your shorts

It's a crime this series underperforms, it legitimately changed my life
This series is what got me into One Piece. I'm now all caught up on both the anime and the manga and couldn't be more grateful!
I cried so hard at parts of this. I need this to continue. You finally convinced me to start re-reading One Piece.
While One Piece hype bros are annoying, I have find the series exactly what I need right now. Very good series. Peak fiction.
I can’t wait till Skyen gets to the end of the Grand Line and the compilation is like 6 hours long
given chapters 1-100 took 2 hours I think its probably gonna be around 26 hours (I think One Piece is gonna be ~1300 chapters)
He's probably gonna break that up by arcs, in what I assume will average out around 100 chapters per compilation (or a bit higher).
i'm really gonna miss the one piece shorts for the next month, they were actually what convinced me to start reading it! it's really nice having your videos because i'm not good at articulating why i enjoy certain chapters or why certain panels are so emotional, but hearing your thoughts on them is super special for me. super hyped for your analysis of alabasta!
It's fascinating how different these sub-arcs feel compared to later ones.
this whole series of you analyzing it is amazing. thank you so much

ah finally, quality content

oh do i love this series so much, its so lovely
This series is the reason I subbed. I hope you keep going!

Love your work mate. Hope the views for the series pick up. Would love to see you get through it
Even when you sometimes get it wrong (in my opinion) you have become one of the best One Piece analysists on CZcams!
I look forward to your commentary on the Reverse Mountain arc and later the Whiskey Peak arc.

Peak video series commenting for engagement for the algorithm.
yesterday i watched the whole Playlist of the original Shorts. very glad to have them all in one place now!! :D
See the thing I love about this video and the league best and worst skins video is that it allows me to watch all these shorts without having to load up each video 👌
Love this series, hope it continues or that you continue to do something one piece related into the future!
The Best Panels of One Piece - The East Blue Saga | COMPILATION IS REAL
Love this series!
This needs more views. More words and engagement for the algorithm god.
I'd love to see the rest of this series.its awesome

*Gets popcorn*
Wow amazing only...wait how many more is that? And you say it's still going?
YAYY!!

Actually I don't think this is later absorbed into the Voice of All Things as we know Momonosuke also has it and he isn't as perceptive of other's true nature as Luffy. I just think Luffy is just emotionally intelligent enough to know when a person is speaking honestly.
The moral of this video is that pay offs in ten years
If this series of video do end up being cancelled for lack of viewership, I'd be happy if you released your analysis in text form at least. I love reading your insights on the lore and art
Of course, I'd rather you can keep it going. It is one of the highlights of my week
Day 1 of commenting on all one piece compilation, this one should take me a bit less time
Yeeeee
No but really, what ARE the best panels in one piece?
I love watching your panel shorts! Cant wait for the next thousand!
10:48 oda stated with the colour spread of other 2 in commands that zoro was not the first mate.
MORE ONE PIECE VIDEOS
ur not gonna continue the series?
It sounds like he's planning to, but wants to warn us that he might not, depending on his financial situation and how the Algorithm treats him.
