I think a lot of these changes may have been driven by the democritzation of the Bible by Gutenberg's press. The hard separation between nature and man is rooted in the abrahamic faiths. The premise that the Creator of the universe is interested in the salvation of human beings above all else is indeed, the root of it. I think a lot of these changes may have been driven by the democritzation of the Bible by Gutenberg's press. The hard separation between nature and man is rooted in the abrahamic faiths. The premise that the Creator of the universe is interested in the salvation of human beings above all else is indeed, the root of it. As an orthodox Christian, the nicean Creed always felt wrong and hollow .. "for us men and our salvation, he came down from heaven".. how full of ourselves can we be? The ignorance about the web of life that actually saves and sustains us is almost forced on the psyche. In many respects, the church actively demonizes the idea that nature and man are equals .. in many areas of the Bible, it ridicules other tribes who revered and honored nature. The idea of animal sacrifices is very much at the foundation of all three abrahamic faiths. In order to re establish a healthy relationship with nature, our belief systems and visceral sensibilities need to change.
