In June 2022, Rise went down on our last scheduled Hollywood Studios day. We had already ridden it a few times during the trip so we were bummed, but we were just expecting a refund. We stopped at Guest Services at the end of the night just to see about the refund since I hadn't seen it pop up & without prompting, one of the "plaids" asked if we'd like to come back a different day. I said, no, it's our last HS day & we don't have park hoppers, but it's really OK. He then asked, what if we give you passes to come back to HS? We had a resort day planned (which we were looking forward to, but the pool kept getting closed due to lightning in the area anyway) so we said, uh, sure? So he gave us 4 one-day park passes for HS, experience redemptions for Rise for that day for whenever we wanted AND they refunded for what we paid for the lightning lane. Because we were nice? Not a guarantee, for sure, but he made some unexpected magic for us. We had our resort morning, got rained out at the pool, but then had an absolute blast coming back to HS for the late afternoon and evening. Just a lesson to try to roll with things--Rise is infamous for closures, but BE NICE. Don't expect to get what amounted to $700+ for the inconvenience, but that's what happened for us. Cast members CAN make magic, but they don't have to.
There's no magic without the CMs. I wish we heard about more of these interactions. For every negative interaction with a CM, I've had only one that I can remember, there are a hundred wonderful ones. Thanks for sharing this!

I love it when Sage says, "I've got good news, and I got bad news. That bad news is that there is no good news." It makes me laugh every time.
I've said it before and stand by it, park hoppers are your friend. Especially now when you can hop whenever you want. Yes, they cost more, but frankly if you do it right, you can hop and not have to buy Genie+. Yes, depending on the time of the year you are still going to stand in some lines but I really think it's easier. Ride a few rides, hop to another park, ride a few rides. The next day, rinse and repeat. You will have time to eat, to relax, to see shows and still ride rides.
I’ve always been tempted to go during Christmas week since the kids are out of school but after this video, we can find another week. I don’t think our kids would make it with those wait times.
The lines and crowds are no joke during the holiday season. Thanks for braving them.

Question concerning the changes that might be coming to Genie +
Thanks to much research and watching videos I perfected Genie and navigating the parks for my family in 2022. We are returning in 2024 and I am concerned if they change the Genie system to similar to the Fast Pass plus where you schedule rides ahead of time it will screw everything up!
Any idea if this is still in the works?
Are there videos showing how to perfect the pass system since I have read you had to use the three passes before getting more. Is it better to get return times early as possible? If you get a return time for late night are you stuck without using the pass system until all three passes are used! Trying to plan for the worst !! I have never used fast pass plus! I want to be prepared. Thanks!!
Sorry if I missed this, If I have Park Hopping tickets and just got Genie + for a certain park, can I upgrade it later For all of the parks?

With Rock n Roller Coaster going to be down until the summer, it’s hard to say how much this is going to change things. This could mean even longer lines and harder to book lightning lanes for existing rides or it could actually mean less Genie+ users and easier to book lightning lanes…Hmmm.
Given how this video was made during the 2023 Christmas holiday, this video is a bit misleading to use this as a gauge for 2024 in general, but still somewhat helpful in navigating during any peak day.
Maybe a video where one uses Disney WiFi and one uses cellular

If during the holidays, Magic Kingdom mornings of parties. I was there during the Thanksgiving week and the morning of one of the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party was sooo empty.

I wish they would bring back the fast passes. It feels to me like that was a much better system & nice perk for the money you pay to stay at a WDW hotel.
That park is hell when it goes damn busy… this is exactly why you don’t come during this time! They screw you so badly in these stand by lines there it’s a joke!
That did not look fun at all... Will def have to skip the holiday periods if you want to enjoy the parks.

We were just at Disney the entire week after Christmas and this is not what will happen to you with any sort of effort. First, if you truly rope drop you'll have a better start than this. Second, there's no way you're pulling that late of a genie time for slinky if you're clicking it right at 7 a.m. Third, I know it was stated multiple times in the video that the challenge would be stopping at 5, but that's just not how anybody would do their day at Hollywood Studios. To conclude "Just don't come at this time" when you were in the park for less time, not rope dropping, and just wasting away the 2 hour cool downs is weird. Just some feedback, and maybe some hope for people who book during busy times and get scared by this video
My family had Hollywood Studios days on Dec. 26 and Dec. 30. We did most things each day and some things twice. Even had a long lunch reservation one day. My wife and I have three kids. You can get stuff done

Here’s the takeaway..Disney has ruined the magic with this genie+ and paid LL, B.S. Neither days is an experience worth paying hundreds of $. Which is what we pay to get in, thousands if you have a large family. Nobody should be paying extra, the consumer is heard with their wallets. when everyone waits no one has to wait disproportionately. Fast Passes were fine, everyone was in same boat and everyone had a few rides they could “skip the line” for. But the days itself were just much more balanced. This is just sad.
2 hour cool down, here's a novel idea: stand in a line rather than just sit in a park you pay $100+ to go to
So, by my count Sage was over 3.5 hours before he could even ride something. Tell me again how Genie+ is a good deal.
Because you can also do all those things that he did while relaxing at your hotel. I always wake up to set up my lightning lanes, get breakfast for my family, come back to wake everyone up and have a leisurely morning. Then we'll hang out at the hotel, maybe spend a few hours at the pool, and go into the park with 4 or 5 lighting lanes in place.
You don’t have wait like Sage did, he could have done other rides. The best use is a mix of genie plus and standby waiting. This is just a fun challenge to compare.
If it’s a moderately busy day you can complete every ride in certain parks. I’ve done everything in AK before 4PM with Genie+. I’ve done everything in MK in one day with Genie+. You can always go on rides with standby lines while waiting on your genie+ call time. I don’t think I’d ever do Disney again without paying for it

Sage just showed you what not to with Genie+, lazy and not proactive. We were able to ride every ride in MK besides peter pan with Genie+
