Recently I visited Kashi. The Kashi Visalakshi temple is patronized by the Chettiar Community. The instructions and information boards in the temple are written in Tamil. The Chettiars have been involved in kumbashikams for a very long time (more than 100 / 200 years or even more) When the shop owners in Kashi realize you are a Tamilian, they address the Tamil women as Achi and start conversing in Tamil. I guess that is the reason why Visalakshi is a very popular name in the Chettiar Community.
It was a very nice, happy, and pleasant experience.
