      I bought a similar set and also replaced my subframe bushings. This kit will not work. I ended up getting a floor press from HF. Other methods include drilling or burning them out.

    Appricate you taking the time to make the video dude. Are 318 compact the same? Or does this work on them? I think their rear suspension is more like the old e30 from what I know.

      Good question, me being over in the US we didn't receive compacts, or any 4 cylinder E46 for that matter. So I have yet to get my paws on one to see the similarities. Unless you're meaning E36.

    Great info Tyler!! Good job on the video, Can the e46 M3 bushings fit on the stock rear arm?

    • @OLearysBMW
      @OLearysBMW  Před 2 lety

      It's the same bushing across all E46. You buy a second one meant for top, fits bottom. Same diameter.

    Question? I have a 2000 323i with 267k miles on it . When I drive it down highway like 50 plus mph the front end wanders around like you were talking about. I thought possibly the steering rack was worn in the middle position? But could it also be bushings in front that causes this also ? I recently replaced the lollipop bushings the rest are stock still

      There's going to be a few things that could use a good going over at this mileage. Steering shaft u joint and the flex coupler at rack being some.

      Mine was due to bad rear trailing arm bushings! The back wheels wobbles just a bit and it’ll throw the front end off. I replaced steering rack, control arms, inner outer tie rods and it still did the same. Came to realize it was the rear suspension that would kick the car sideways and throw off the front end

    Will this removal the subframe bushings too?

    • @OLearysBMW
      @OLearysBMW  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I've personally never tried it. When it comes to removal, you can either A.) Heat up the subframe and pound out the bushings, as the bushings exterior is rubber coated. When it begins to melt, they can slip right out. Or B.) Drill out the rubber of bushings, tap out the bushing center, then take sawzall and slice outer race of bushing then tap it out. I've done both of these methods. When it comes to reinstall, we typically opt for poly bushings so they install by hand/dead blow hammer. I used aluminum bushings on my personal car, I used a wheel bearing installer press set.
