"I AM" is the title God uses to refer to Himself in the old testament. There is no "i am... what.?" no, it's a title. God's title.

"The first and the Last" the Quran address God with this name in Surah 57:3 while in the Bible it is Isaiah 44:6. So we can establish the Title "The first and the last is attributed to God" so Jesus called himself "The first and the last in Revelation 1:17 - 18

Jesus said I am lord of the Sabbath, he said I have authority to forgive sins, he said before Abraham I am, he said he could sit in the mercy seat, he said all things have been made through me and for me, he said he is only way to salvation from death. Maybe it is true he never said “I am God, worship me” but he also made it pretty clear that he has all divine authority .

I have problems with people (typically Muslims) who try and compare the religions because Jesus Christ dying for our sins is the whole reason we believe. I am sure that Islam does acknowledge Jesus, Adam, Moses, Abraham, etc. as prophets, but it ignores the biggest part of our religion.
Is it that hard for Islam to believe Jesus is God ? Therefore, he is declaring that he is God because only God could do such a thing. @Donny Nope, read the context. Jesus said Abraham saw his days. And the Jews asked how do you know about Abraham, you're not even 50 years old? So Jesus replied: Before Abraham was I Am. Meaning God existed before Abraham and he was the one who informed Abraham of Jesus' days.
Jesus didn't say my name is I Am or I am the one who is called I AM. Just change the word I AM to any other name like Fred for example. Then Jesus' saying will simply read Before Abraham was Fred.
The Jews actions mean nothing here because they also accused him of being mad, possessed, and devilish. So if you want to take the Jews actions and speech as evidence then be consistent.
The verse in John 17:3 is explicit in calling the Father the only True God, so there is no need to go fishing in the ambiguous verses.

Jesus had a pre-human existence. Before he came to the earth he was an angel in heaven (archangel) then God sent him to earth to fulfill that special assignment. When a man and woman marry they become one flesh. It doesn't mean they become one person.. it means they are united and have a oneness in purpose. God tells Moses his name is “I am”
Jesus claims “before Abraham was, I am”
In the context of the conversation, Jesus was speaking to a Jewish audience, and he told them “I am” meaning that he claimed to be God. He also claimed to exist before Abraham did.
If you are worried about corruption through translation, I am saying for a fact that we have access to over 5,000 Greek manuscripts of the gospels today. You can research this, please don’t take me for my word. If you don’t know this, the 4 gospels were written in the Greek language, research this as well.

When you come to serve humanity as a human, you are no longer making others glorify you but then one who sent him. Those who saw this reality and realized that him and the father are one worshiped him and he didn’t rebuke them. If Jesus was only a prophet the.
