7 Reasons we love living in the Eastmark community of Mesa, AZ

My wife and I first heard about DMB's newest development in southeast Mesa called Eastmark back in 2012. We only lived about 5 miles away, and yet we were intrigued at what they were doing on the old General Motors desert proving grounds site.
So we made it to the grand opening on June 1, 2013, signed papers to purchase a home that same day, and then moved into our newly-built home in December of that year. We earned the monicker, "Eastmark Originals" since we were a part of the first group of residents. Now the community has almost 20,000 residents...and counting!

Hi, the community looks amazing. How is the upcoming commercial development going? The planned park expansion and amenities? I have not been able to find much on this recently and would love to know more before making a move. Seems most recently the plan is for more drive through type restaurants and industrial development. Appreciate the updates on what looks like a nice community.

Hi Gabe, great questions. There is certainly a lot of light industrial business coming to the area in and around Eastmark per the general plan that aligns with the Elliot Tech Corridor as well as supporting the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. While some neighbors who live closer to the edges of the residential community don't love the idea of being that close to truck traffic, et al., Eastmark was intentionally designed to keep that traffic from cutting through the neighborhood itself. It's a huge area (approx 5 sq miles), so plenty of room for all the things Eastmark was designed to be!

As far as other commercial development, specifically restaurants and retail, that is coming! Some of us have been very patient as we've been waiting a long time to see that happen, but we are getting closer and closer now. Yes, we have some additional drive-thrus looking at opening up around Eastmark, but there is still some real exciting talk about what's coming to the corner of Ray and Ellsworth, a project I've heard called "Eastmarket." I started this group shortly after we moved in in 2014, and it's become a very helpful resource for neighbors to help neighbors.
