- Soft Crash is the new collaborative project of Hayden Payne (aka Phase Fatale) and Pablo Bozzi, one half of techno duo Imperial Black Unit. The duo’s shared love of classic EBM meets disco and synthwave on their new project, which they describe as “Italo body music”.
Last year, the duo released their first EP on Payne’s BITE label, a three-track release that references William S. Burroughs and J.G. Ballard as well as exploring how the line is blurring between fetishization of technology and of the body.
On this Patch Notes session, filmed in Catalyst Berlin's music studios at Funkhaus, Payne and Bozzi perform a hardware live set with visuals by Paulina Greta aka Imaginaria, an artist who has previously worked with Mannequin Records' Alessandro Adriani.
Soft Crash’s Spritzkrieg EP is available now on Bandcamp, with an album on the way later in 2021: biterecords.bandcamp.com/albu...

🔪🔪 that mustache is pure strength!
Yes! This brings me back to my FLA, Skinny Puppy, Front 242 days. Love it.
True, they sound very similar to Front 242.
The sound is like that of a good DJ mixing tracks together. Their haircuts are reminiscent of recruits at the Romulan Space Academy. This is just a hunch. I have no knowledge of any such institution. I've already said too much.
great, soounds like the dirty big beats meets EBM early 80s. I miss some drinks on the desks
Soft crash 🖤🖤🖤🙌🙌
those two are my absolute two favorite djs since corona started. now they perform live together. is this a good or a great omen for 21?
I think the same

This is a really awesome jam, like it!
I hope that there will be a Hain-Gig if they reopen the clubs! Imagine this live-set in this halls!
Lots of EBM in this. I know Phase loves that vibe. Also hitting the drum pad reminded me of Welle :Erdball and Arbait Adelt.
20 years off the scene, and this I like. First song has elements of berlinschool electronic music, third song sounds like early german techno from beginning of the 90's, sounds excellent.
This is top shit. I liked the whole set.
The first track is the mixture of Cyber Axis and Headscan, absolute winner. New generation of Rivetheads sporting FP:)

Tracklist?
thats a lot of equipment to play the same thing over & over.. u guys should by a laptop & fruity loops, & learn how to make an 8 bar loop.. much cheaper, same sound
Justin Upchurch nope, DAWless is where it's at for live performance. Nobody wants to see some just staring at a laptop. Real instruments are more fun anyway.
@@dharmapada pablo bozzi is using a computer in this clip... take a good look
Tomas Palmariello I'm taking a good look, all I am seeing is a clearly hardware performance. Whether you saw a laptop laying around or not is not the point. The point is that they are physically moving around and controlling hardware instruments compared to hovering over a laptop. Again, they are not hovering over laptops. And I still don't see a computer anywhere. Where is this computer you speak of. Nothing against computers by the way, my studio is hybrid.
@@dharmapada you're missing a key element in understanding what are they doing.
pablo bozzi's setup relies heavily on synths. synths need notes to make a sound, notes are being sent via, i suppose, ableton live on a computer via midi and he is controlling the computer with the launchpad or ableton push on the corner... i don't see the computer either, but it is there sending sequences to synths, otherwise would be very difficult to run his prophet and his other synth changing sequences on the fly, thing that he doesn't do live because ableton live is doing it for him.
Tomas Palmariello I understand note send. My point is the the laptop is not featured as a central focus of the performance. It seems many of sequences are control voltages and not midi. Not saying midi is not there. This conversation started by someone saying, scrap the hardware and preform this with fruity loops 8 bar loops. All I said was hardware is more fun in a live performance. I think I made my point.
