As a Blackburn fan, unfortunately for us there is more backstory to the chicken... our owner was jack walker who was a massive blackburn fan throughout his life and was the main reason behind our status and prem title. However his family later sold ownership after he died to the venky's who are known as an indian chicken company much to the humour of our rivals. When they took over we were almost immediately relegated and havent been back to the prem since with a lot of our supporters still wanting the venkys out. Anyway that is the reason why the wigan fans threw a chicken with a blackburn flag onto our pitch just to have a laugh at our poor ownership choice lmao

We had a moment in Australian Rules Football (not soccer football but I'm counting it) where injured players made fun of a larger player from the other team (Tony Lockett) by releasing a pig onto the ground, with his number and nickname spray painted on it.
One of the most iconic bits of AFL vision, truly worth a watch.
