- Nhl highlights - Florida panthers vs new york islanders was a tight game underlined by sam reinhart ekman larsson and matthew tkachuk . For more nhl news and rumors including trades and signings, a mix of recaps breakdowns and reactions to nhl hockey highlights today and player/team specific content like this on the panthers, usually on the toronto maple leafs edmonton oilers montreal canadiens and a couple others but really making an effort to cover all 32 teams this 2023-24 season. Glad you started talking about the wagon that is the panthers. We just need to not have Barkov be injured so he can run the pk and initiate the pp then we have one of the best teams in the league.
the biggest change has been Tkachuk set up behind the net with Reinhart in the bumper. To start the season we had things a little different with Barkov distributing more. Problem with that is Barkov is such a passive player offensively that the D & goalies could cheat, knowing he would not likely shoot. Now with Tkachuk in that role, goalies MUST play him as though he will jump towards the net and try to score, so they cannot cheat the bumper guy. Chucky makes perfect passes without even looking and Reinhart one times it past the goalie because there simply is not enough time for the goalie to turn his head from 100% focus on Tkachuk, and then pick up the puck off Reinharts stick in time to make a save. It only took about 4 years but the Panthers finally figured out what Stamkos/Kuch/Pointe had going all those years. It takes the right personnel but it's almost unstoppable with the right guys.
It all starts with Barkov. And they haven't changed positions. They have been doing this pp play at least from last year. Now it just works better
the first 25 or so games Tkachuk was many times not even behind the net running things, and Barkov was the main distributor of the puck, and Reinhart was closer to the circles and not right in the middle. It started working once Tkachuk felt comfortable enough to get back behind the net more, he was getting knocked off the puck to easily before he fully recovered from the injury@@Mangos4uce
Barkov is still quarterbacking that power play. He distributes the puck, he stickhandles, he seems to even direct the action out there. He is not a shooter, due to his temperament or, perhaps, his preference, so we maximize his value by providing him with a shooter (Rinehart) and a jack of all trades (Tkachuk) on the PP.
Props to Reinhart he's killing it
sawgrass mills cup parade would be legendary lmao that mall is my childhood
Turns out it was on the beach in the pouring rain. But what a day it was. ❤🙏🏻
“Walk around sawgrass mills”😂
lol if you know, you know!
only way to save on parking!
@@cannedpineapple2702 I went down for game 3 of the final those motherfuckers were trying to charge like $100 park at the arena.😭 s/o to sawgrass for being a real one all my life
As a Flames fan I think we neutered Tkachuk a bit. Seeing him just let completely loose and be such a beast has been a real treat.
Trelevin screwed us big time Trudeau I mean Huberdeau is a laugh .
He got 100 points and was part of the best line in the league before he left?
@JustpissTrudeau69 contract is ass, but Hubey is doing fine rn and he can still do better. Here's to hoping he stays around a ppg
If Barkov doesn't win Selke, there's serious flaw in the universe.
The only way he loses it is if he misses more time. He's been in and out of the lineup because of small injuries a couple of times and let's face it, health is a factor when giving out the trophy.
He should have won the Selke several times over by now... But, you know.... Florida...🙄
@@carp41181less about florida and more about patrice bergeron existing lol
Bergeron wad robbed 2 times because he is bergeron
Matthews wins the Selke this year sorry bud
The scary thing is, (I think most in the Panther fanbase would agree) is they are not playing their 100% best yet.
The biggest three areas of improvement of this year’s team has been
1) Overall depth. Better adaptation when players fall to injury. We’ve seen throughout this season Barkov, Bennett, Ekblad, Montour all miss their slew of games
2) They have finally become very good on the road already breaking a franchise record with 8 straight dubs
3) Most importantly they FINALLY have a coherent, potent, fluid Special Teams that should be sustainable for the playoffs.
No one's talking about Sam Reinhart right now.. while everyone's raving over Auston Matthews being atop the league in goal scoring, Sam Reinhart is not too far behind him in second. Imagine if he were playing in a major Canadian market instead of Florida..
Luckily I have both Reinhart and Matthews on fantasy 😂, they’ve been a god send. Reinhart especially
Out of his 36 goals, 19 came from power plays. Impressive numbers regardless, but yeah, one team is top 5 in PP opportunities where the other is bottom 5.
Generally, scoring a lot on 5on5 is more impressive, but I guess that's subjective
Fugazi
If he were playing in another market instead of Florida he'd be getting paid a hell of a lot less due to taxes. Even Nylander's contract is not so attractive with all taxes taken out soo there's that
Matthews has three more goals in 3 less games
‘And walk around sawgrass mills with it’ 😂😂😂😂 I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile
We're coming, baby. You forgot Forsling. He's been awesome this year. #GOCATS
BTW, that "Sawgrass Mills" line was funny. 😂😂
I was disappointed that he forgot Forsling too. One of the most underrated d-men in the league. So silky smooth.
@shawnmcnally1254 Definitely. He's 3rd among all defensemen in the league (behind Hughes and Rhonek) in plus/minus. He's awesome and young.
Props to everyone on this panthers team (other then a certain defensemen I won’t name).. please more cats content!! We need it
As another fellow flames fan, this season has been very interesting to say, with Johnny G being horrible and all, but at the rate the nucks and jets are going, I just want to see either of them thrive in the post season and finally have Canada have some playoff success
Yeah Tkachuk wasn't really 100% but at no point did he look frustrated or angry or anything. He knew his team was fine and there was time for him to get better.
Anybody who can recover from such a debilitating injury so quickly deserves credit. Tkachuk is a beast and will probably light up the stats for the rest of the season as he gets completely healed.
Agreed, Carter Verhaeghe is a superstar, one of the most exciting players to watch in this league.
Glad someone else is saying it, I've been saying this all year
As a bruins fan gotta say this Florida panthers team frightens me anyways that game 7 loss in ot still has me shaken from this team I don’t know why nobody isn’t talking bout Sam Reinhart he’s been tremendous and I know he’s doings better than Pastrnak too
I dont understand how the best defensive d man in hockey gets no mention as one of the panthers best players. The golden guse gets zero mention ever. Hes the best actual defender in the world. Scoring is all that matters to people.
panthers winning the cup this year. mail it in
He nails it ✅
The best of the 3 Tkachuks.
You gotta do a video about the Grand Rapids Griffens playing as the Flying Toasters last night! Good stuff, big fight at the end.
As a Panthers fan, the fact people are hating on the Panthers because of their chippyness and Nick Cousins' questionable behavior on ice is absurd. Echo chambers like r/nhl and r/hockey (not that I use Reddit, on the contrary, I hate it) just show how much last season's Panthers run hurt so many fanbases. Boston is obsessed with revenge.
I love it that this team is doing so well, it really is a solid Cup contender. Tkachuk has been amazing, bro just lit himself on fire and cannot be put out. Goaltending is one of the best of all time right now, and the defense, while sometimes they do slip up hard, for the most part they're good.
Where is Florida getting hate? Twitter? Those aren’t people they’re goblins. I’m a Wings and Panthers fan the only hate I’ve seen is from Toronto fans but to be fair Toronto fans also hate themselves.
@@casewojo6186 everywhere I see. I swear for the life of me, I've seen people hoping for a crippling Bobrovsky or Tkachuk injury.
Everyone complains that the NHL has gotten too soft, that there's no backbone, nobody around to hold other players accountable. Then they turn around and complain about how the whole Panthers team was coming for Letang after his hit on Barkov, who had multiple chances to answer the bell and didn't.
Typical East Coast/Canadian media bias. Panthers are just shraing division with teams which have large and obnoxious fanbases and still salty about last playoffs (Boston and Toronto).
My only problem with Florida is they run around playing rough then turtle . If they didn’t do that I’d at least respect them.
Great clips. Succinct & all major facts. Thank you!
CUP CHAMPS BABY. 🎉
I'm a Flames fan, I'll always love Tkachuck, guy was fantastic!
100%. I’ve been saying this all season long about Tkachuk. This season he was visibly off. I think he’s near 100% now and they will make another deep run
Canucks fan here. I am definitely happy we don't have to play against the Panthers very often.
The Panthers are a stacked team. I don't know why the seem to not get much attention
Do you write a script now? Past few videos it feels like u reading
He’s talking. Can a man not speak?
Speaking and reading can be 2 totally different things.
What’s your problem?
I totally agree, I've had a sternum injury before, and it really freaking hurts, and it hurts for years after. When I heard that happened to Matt I was like uhoh, this might actually screw up his career. It's just the nagging pain that kind of injury causes. Of course I didn't get much of any treatment, and he's getting the best I would assume. I think he's incredible, hope he wins a cup one day!!
I remember watching the team this session and being like where is 19, where's our super star right up there with barky. Finally heating up
I've been saying all season that Reinhart will cool off. He's been shooting over 25%! Yet, he hasn't and at this point he probably won't I guess
Is this trav4oilers secondary account?
Thachuk sacrificed everything last season and carried Florida all the way to the final guy is a bonified legend. Calgary was foolish to trade him he wanted out apparently because they wouldn’t make him captain
We’re tougher, grittier and bigger of that was possible with four full lines that are solid, I believe regardless of how tough the East is , making it to the cup final is our floor…look how we dismantled the Avalanche tonight in the shutout 😊

VERHAEGE IS THE BEST GOAL SCORER IN THE NHL
I’d love to see Reinhart win the Conn Smythe Trophy, and you know what that means.
Varlamov still being in the NHL is actually baffling to me. feels like hes been the most average goaltender to last forever. then again Tim Thomas(but he had an insane stretch too)
having a broken sternum prooly didnt help him at the beginning of season
More panthers vids!
We should all be talking about Nazim Kadri
If a guy makes over 80pts in season, he can score +40 goals easily
NATHAN MACKINNON just leading the league in points and mikko just casually in the top 4 like usual but not an all star lmao
VAMOS Gatos
Wow they must be first in the Atlantic
No love for my man Sam Bennett working his ass off this season
O one’s talking about the Oilers right now, jk
Sam Reinhart is better than Matthews. Way better defensively.
Take a quick peek at matthews defensive stats
Reinhart: 49GP 23TA 43BS 23H 21PIMS
Matthews: 46GP 47TA 56BS 42H 4PIMS

TA: Takeaways
BS: Blocked Shots
H: Hits
PIMS: Penalties In Minutes

@@Papi4Life23 wow, you can google things. A super genius. You have Matthew’s 🌭 in your mouth rn? Sounds like a typical Toronto fan.

It’s funny because when I tell ppl I’m a Panthers fan they immediately assume Tkchauk is my fav player; nawwwww dawg Verhaeghe and Barkov 😂🫡
GO CATS GO!!!!
Those leafs are getting swept.
Vancouver and Edmonton are still 1 and 2
Wow. The Islanders have won 20 of 49 games
Panthers First Round exit coming up
OOPS 😂

Can you stop using click bait as the titles of your videos and just say what the video is about?
What happened to the tease for more Red Wing content? Last ten games, FLA is 6-2-2 and DET is 7-2-1 and that is without Patrick Kane. Lyon is playing as well as any goalie in the league. Never mind, we'll get ours in the playoffs. Continue on.
Panthers are a wagon again WATCH THE FUCK OUT
First
It’s a dumb strategy to keep playing dirty all season, the league is fed up with this team and the refs so someone’s gonna say fuck it and let loose and merc a key player on this team. And lots of people are gonna loveeee it.
Playoff intensity is gonna be a wild ride, which is more of what I’m excited for than my team winning tbh
The league is fed up because they can't match our success 🥰 washed up teams filled with bums
Ain't happening 😄 Panthers keep winning! 🏒🌴
@@choppergunner8650lmao not what the numbers of the season show. Plenty of bums doing better and bums catching up
@@Irishluckily nah, definitely bums crying because the Panthers rolled over them 🥰
Yet game attendance is poor. SMH A lot of markets would show appreciation for the kind of quality hockey the Panthers are putting on the ice.
Every game this year has been or close to a sell out...
I like Hockey so I will watch a lot of other teams. It just catches my attention when I watch the Panthers that I see a lot of empty seats. So are these sell outs corporations sponsor? How many season ticket holders?
@@joeleaton607the seats that the camera faces are club seats. Apparently, you can see the game from the club area just above the middle section in the lower bowl which is often times it still looks kinda empty. It was a poor design by the previous owner if I'm remembering details correctly
Except it's not poor at all.
This season as of December 3rd, the Panthers were 10th in attendance in the NHL, averaging 18,180 sold seats per game.
Source: The Athletic, "NHL attendance analysis: Biggest risers and fallers year-over-year" by Ian Mendes (December 5, 2023).
The Panthers' arena is big (6th most seats in the NHL at 19,250) and the notoriously empty seats are in a very visible area. The thing is, Florida has a private club at the top of the section that is directly behind the benches; those center ice behind-the-bench seats typically stay empty because their holders mingle up high rather than staying in their seats. It creates an illusion of poor attendance even when the place is sold out.
This is such an uneducated take. Panthers are top 10 in attendance averaging around 18.4k
Hoping the Panthers meet the Bruins in the playoffs. 🏒🏒😉👍
No talk about Nick Cousins eh?
Why talk about the worst player on the Panthers who hasn't played in over a month?
@@eastmancl because he’s been suspended 😂😂
@@0matic1112 He wasn't suspended though, he was out with a concussion.
I´m a VGK homer...I readily admit it. Florida is the goon squad. Dirty as dirty can be. If I watched the Cup Finals another 20 times it wouldn´t be enough. We beat Florida to a pulp! Florida can say whatever they want about the Boston series, it was the Golden Knights that beat them into submission and it was beautiful! The fact that we beat them at their own game is the best part.
That was last year bud
@@zgalp Strange! The Cup still looks shiny and new!
I get it you must put some interesting title to bring more viewers... but fuck these click baits - unsubscribed
the Panthers win games because the refs fail to call all of the stick penalties and interference penalties on them especially Reinhart, Larsson, and Tkachuk
you have at least 1/4 of the teams who should be leading the league in penalty minutes but are the least penalized
The irony. AHAHA
The Pens had 8 powerplays compared to floridas 3. Lmao it’s being called fairly
That's some absolute cope right here 😂😂😂😂
Yep, it’s all a big conspiracy right. Please!

Screw Florida
