I loved JS growing up. Ice Cream was my jam back in Jamaica. Now that I'm older I'm seeing where their A&R team might gotten their "development" wrong. Kim's light tones is/was like Nivea's (also a protegée of R. Kelly). Nivea though was skewed (successfully) toward to a younger crowd. Kandy's highs make me think of Tamia, who held it down for the grown and sexy RnB. So they needed an "it" which they didn't seem to get. They're super talented though, and two of the best voices of that era.

There truly are some r&b gems housed on their Ice Cream project. It was mature In subject matter, but still very contemporary and “current”. They were, unfortunately, signed to the now defunct Dreamworks Records who signed a slew of wonderful artists during their short tenture as a record label and actually released albums for many of those artists; however they did a lousy job of promoting said artists. All of those new artists signed to Dreamworks never had a real chance at success. Bad business.
