- So today started with a helicopter, but it was supposed to be a motorcade. The press office didn't get the memo so I didn't file for credentials and ended up covering Marine One from the outside of the White House (still kind of cool). Then it was off to GWU where protesters had a bit of a scuffle with police over a flag. Then we go for a bike ride.

What a bunch of crazies
There used to be a Law that you can not Demonstrate/Protest without NOTICE, much like a Parade. City Hall has to approve a PERMIT. This allows the Police to re-route traffic , ensuring safety of protestors and public. Permits denied to control bridges and such. Also when the permit is approved, it's for the time stated ON the permit. If you gather for a Demonstration without having applied for the Free Permit you are ALREADY ARRESTABLE. Those laws kept the Peace. It is not a Violation of Free Speech to require a permit. One Person cannot jump into middle of street and yell for hours due to Freedom of Speech. Or be a public nuisance on sidewalks. If one can't do it, a thousand people can't do it either.
And you cannot.protest on private property. I see many comments unaware of that.

It is my understanding that the universities/colleges gave permission to protest on the colleges property. Not sure encampments were part of those permissions, however it seems the funded encampments and protest continued several days too many. The administrations then asked the student protestors to leave and they refused, so law enforcement was called in. The protestors them cried about their amendment rights and being peaceful and are students not wanting to pay the consequences. Some peaceful students throwing things and using fire extinguishers on police on one campus. And with arrest, police are finding that most of these people are not even students.
And our system allowed this funky flag to be raised in the USA. SAD. This has to be stopped.

The First Amendment permits a person to display any flag no matter how much others may hate it on their personal property or at protests on public property. So the system you want to be "stopped" is that of the Constitution of the United States.

I'm guessing they love America and are encouraging it to live up tp its ideals, which include freedom of speech, freedom of information, freedom of assembly, inalienable rights, etc. All of these are being tested by the govt...a govt that is supporting the outright slaughter and sniper shooting of thousands of women and children in Palestine and the West Bank (so far, more than 34K literally blown up and shot in the head and legs, and thousands more maimed and severely wounded). Also, more than 140 print and video journalists who are risking their lives (they are targeted by Israel forces) to show the world what's going on. The students don't rely on msm tropes of malinformation (a Biden def), but are accessing the free flow of worldwide info through "social media" that is now essential to liberty.
They don't hate America. They don't hate anything, or love anything. They're just repeaters. Incapable of thinking on their own.

Andrew, re the Vietnam Memorial, you might mention, for those who might not know, that the designer of the memorial is Maya Lin, who at the time was an undergraduate architecture student who submitted her design for consideration.. There was a lot of controversy over its selection, for it was a new, innovative approach to memorializing wars. As you noted, it has a very sobering and solemn effect as you walk down along all the names engraved in stone -- a heart-felt reminder of young lives lost through the hubris of those fulminating war.

Can you explain why you have to be "credentialed in" to certain events when you have already been credentialed?
Because the credentials he gets are only for that specific event. To attend a different event he has to get credentials for it.
It would be Necessary to file for a City permit to gather in a large group on private property for purposes of Demonstration/ Protest. On PRIVATE property the permit request must be by the property owner, because they will be financially responsible if The City is left to clean it up.

By the way I enjoy seeing the area even if you were there the day before. It has been pointed out that those sleeping tents that look the same are all over this country at every protest. There should be something done about, if not already done, about our American flag being taken down and another countries flag put up in place of ours. I had to ask what country is this?And who is really supporting this? Isn't that a traitor's action? One of the school's found out that someone other than students are supplying tents and more to help the students stay. It was also found that many were not students (shock), but adults posing as students and encouraging the chants and cresting the chants. Heard form elsewhere that funding is from Soris and Obmana. Another source is saying China. It certainly is not the students...mo money. And again from more interviews streaming out, the students repeating what they are told instead of checking the information out for themselves. Caught ACLU's take down of their encampment. After being told to leave a couple of days, police called in to remove/arrest students. Up to the last minute, police asking them to leave,. A few did , rest stayed chanting they would not leave. Found it very funny when the chant changed from Palestine to "we are students, don't hurt us." They were then arrested. No one was hurt unless they had attacked police.
Japan actually invaded Alaska, and also conducted a series of attacks via submarine along the west coast. As the war progressed they also launched balloons with incendiary devices attacked from Japan that were intended to start major forest fires in the American west. The military did a good job of keeping the fires contained, but unfortunately Japan did kill a family that was a on picnic near Bly, Oregon on May 5, 1945. According to the USDA's website "On May 5, 1945, Archie Mitchell's pregnant wife and five children found and accidentally detonated a Japanese balloon bomb, killing them all. Mitchell was parking the car and was not injured."

Therefore, the United States has an embassy in the London, England, and the United Kingdom maintains an embassy in Washington D.C. So what you are being "skeptical" about is not only normal, but has been going on for centuries.
