Matt Ryan is to Constantine what Kevin Conroy is to Batman. Iconic. And glad to see more DCAMU movies getting covered at a quicker pace.

My only wish is for Matt Ryan to play Constantine again in the DCU. I don't care what people say, but you can't deny that whenever you read a comic panel with Constantine, you can't unhear Matt Ryan.

Can we just acknowledge that this and the live-action universe started at the same time but the DCAMU had maintained a steady level of quality(except the animation budget of course) which in my opinion was a 5/10 at worst and 8/10 at best.
But the one they were "pushing" crashed and burned.
I actually like the DCEU but the studio should've let Zack finish his five movie story and reboot it with a more streamlined universe but they fucked it up

About time
A small part of Alec Holland yearns to shed the Green and be human once again, but he's in denial. Destiny pulls back the curtain and shows Alec his true rotted form and shatters the last hope that he'll ever be human again. This puts him into a state of utmost despair, an emotional wavelength that is not suitable to put up a fight. So Swamp Thing crumbles for the time being as Alec comes to terms with his loss. Destiny could not defeat Swamp Thing, so he mentally defeated Alec, disrupting the connection between the human conduit and the Green.
"I have a butler." That gets me every effing time. 😂
The two fingers he held up at 21:02 is the British version of holding up the middle finger in USA, traces back to medieval war time where the French would capture British long bowmen and cut off their string fingers, British archers used it as an insult thereafter.
Fun fact: Jeremy Davies, the guy who voiced Ritchie Simpson in this movie, also played the live-action version of the character in the 2014 Constantine series alongside Matt Ryan. He also played John Deegan during the Elseworld crossover event in Arrowverse.
Finally, DCAMU continues! Reel Rejects are almost done theirs.
I’m just dreading having to rewatch Apokolips War with them. That movie scarred me. Literally the ENTIRETY of the Justice League were met with the worst fates in that movie, even if Flash undid all of it
What's so cool is that you can read Zatanna's spells in the captions but they're backwards just like in the comics!
Justice League Dark is a kind of branch group of the Justice League. They are the ones that deal with supernatural and mystical threats.

i don't know much about Etrigan from the comics, only his animated appearances, but i mean he IS a demon so i think Jason's hesitance to let him out is valid. but you're right he seems okay, so i like to imagine he became more heroic over time due to being bonded to Jason's soul. the "good guy"-ness sorta seeped into him. idk, can anybody who knows Etrigan in the comics debunk or validate this theory?

Comics Etrigan is one of the least evil demons in Hell (how much that's Jason's influence is debatable), but that's not much of an endorsement. He's still a violent, sadistic high-ranking demon who's had his own murderous schemes during his/Jason's long life. He does actually enjoy punishing other evildoers, that being the whole point of demons, so he's *usually* not hard to aim at the bad guys. You just have to remember his idea of punishment often involves burning people alive
Etrigan is probably my most favorite DC character ever. Created by Jack Kirby! DC needs to show more love to magic characters especially Etrigan since its been YEARS since he's had his own run.
I would be cool w more magic characters and lanterns... where tf have the lanterns been like I havent seen any of em in any media for a fat minute now :( n GL my fav but they always do him dirty in movies even the animated ones these days ;(
But in the new 52 he is such a asshole, what he do with jason is beyond of cruelty (not complaining he is a demon after all)

The guy who voices Ritchie is Jeremy Davies. He also voices Baldur in God of War.
NeedleMouse Productions did a video translating Zatanna's Spells, and it seems like the giant sword she summons is meant to belong to Hades.
This movie has great Batman lines
Swamp thing is an entity, Alec Holland was just the avatar it was currently using. The entity itself just left the fight when Alec’s body was removed from the avatar.
Constantine and Etrigan are my favorites I hope Gunn can show Us them really good in live action version
I can see him giving us a JL Dark movie. If there’s one thing he can do, it’s making team movies. It probably won’t be until further down the line though

The part that gets me in this is Batman denying magic exists when he CLEARLY knew it did because he knew Constantine and because there were clear examples of it in the league. So he chose to be an ass to everyone despite knowing he was wrong and refused to keep them updated on the situation which inevitably led to them making things worse in the end. It makes me laugh everytime that a massive amount of the problem could’ve been solved if Batman wasn’t a tool at that meeting and communicated better.

Little misconception that I also had until I was corrected. Superman isn't weak to magic he just has no defense against it. Superman isn't weak to magic like how a vampire is weak to sunlight.
Its just Superman can take all forms of punishment and be fine. He can throw a planet, but basic forms of magic can affect him.
If Superman was flying at Darkseid he would have blown straight through him but magic was able to stop his flight. So magic isn't a weakness persay he just isn't invulnerable to it
When you resist everything else, anything that can hurt you is a weakness, hate when people argue over semantics.

Deadman wants to solve his own murder, he also wants to get to Heaven, but everytime he does something good and just and selfless, he screws up, gives into his temper or messes up and gets denied his passage...he ends up waiting for his next chance, trying not to screw up
i remember this being the case when he appeared in Justice League Unlimited, and episode which introduced to me Nanda Parbat, Deadman intercedes to get Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman to save the residents, and soon afterwards Gorilla City, which they do, but Deadman's actions lead to a rash action involving Batman....thus denying his passage to the other side

I never thought I'd see the day, when I have more knowledge of DC characters than Blindwave! I remember seeing both Boston and Etrigann in the Batman: Brave and the Bold!
The "I have a butler" line goes alot deeper. How did Young Bruce Wayne deal with his trauma and suffering? He had Alferd, yes his butler but also basically his father someone who instilled the sense of right and wrong in a young tormented Bruce Wayne.

Superman isn't weak to magic. He's just not invulnerable to it. It doesn't weaken him like kryptonite does, but he can't tank it. It will have on him almost the same effect as to any normal human.

the villain of this movie is dr destiny who is john dee from sandman. likewise the dream stone is Dream's ruby from sandman. Though obviously all the references and connections to sandman were removed from this adaptation of the character. Much like how the dream stone appeared in wonder woman 1984 with its sandman connection's removed.

The magic side of DC is so cool. The house of mystery is Cain’s house from the Sandman series and Etrigan is the demon that leads dream through hell to meet Lucifer. Dream also convinced his sister death to spare Batman at one point because he is the inspiration for numerous dreams and nightmares in mortals. Bruce Wayne’s ancestor served alongside Jason Blood as a knight of Camelot.

Jason AND Etrigan are voiced by Ray Chase, who’s been in plenty of games and anime over the years. I believe he’s in Demon Slayer, but I mostly know him as the Master of Masters from the Kingdom Hearts games.
