Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time.
Russia's national security was compromised once nato began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining nato was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.

The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present.
Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave.
Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) RIP.
The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).
The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter.
I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion.
I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written.

I got disappointed. At my work u would assume those who are well educated, like doctors, will be smart. But it shows opposite. I have a dr from Slovakia, she doesn't like Fico because of his politics and his friendly view on Russia, thinks it was a matter of time before Fico was shoot. So guys i no longer think that well educated people are necessarily the smartest ones. The ability think for yourself is what that makes you smart in my opinion.

To Ania, when I saw the attempted assassination on the Slovakian PM and how his security reacted to the shots, it brought back previous incidences such as attempts and murder on these figures ,Ronald Reagan, the then Polish pope, forgotten his name, Queen Elizabeth II, Israeli premier, Shamon Peres brings to mind.

There is a lot going on in this issue and will require an indepth investigation to find the hidden game players.This will take some time & good investigation skills. ( the shooter is only the paun). Regards to convicts in military , it tells you the desperate state of things in ukaraine. But they will fit in with current leadership in that regime quite well given their own status & values. I feel Fico's shooter was a plant, meant to be the fall guy. He may have even hated Fico, for whatever, then the CIA (the aphabet soup group) came along and gave him the tools. It's very important to investigate the location of all people that the shooter cares about (family). It is important to find out if the shooter could be blackmailed somehow. It is important to look at all activities financial and other of the shooter and all his family. If I were 71 and only had to do one dirty deed to ensure one of the following I might be motivated to throw away my life; the financial security of my family, the safety of my family,,,, I assume that such investigation is being conducted at this time. Some years ago (and possibly still) it was not unusual (in the country I am in) for people who worked in banks or government to be shown a video of their children or grandchildren leaving their school or something like that and then told they must do something,,, or else. There was a man here who had worked in a bank for many years and then just suddenly quit. His family had been threatened as I have described above. He didn't want to do the dirty deeds so he quit. This type of thing is very difficult to uncover because nothing has actually happened to the family, there is no proof of the threat, the victim won't talk about it out of fear. ,,,,,,,,,,,, I was very surprised by the situation of the shooting. For me, it seems incredible that a person who is so controversial in such a high stakes game could be approached by people who had not been checked by security. Most assassinations are allowed by security. I hope his security staff is also being investigated thoroughly.

The time that Fico will be moved from this hospitL should not be mentioned. I hope new and more skilled security guards are appointed to KEEP Fico safe, some in uniforms and some not. But, all guards should be well trained beyond the ordinary. They should be able to react and think quickly and clearly and to react in unexpected ways.
