Advice for Trekkers going high altitude.
    1) Prevention
    - Ascending slowly is best way to avoid altitude sickness
    - Avoiding strenuous activity.
    - Avoid Alcohol, Sleeping pills, Respiratory depressants.
    - First aid and tools
    2) Pre acclimatization
    - Pre acclimatization is when body develops tolerance to low oxygen concentration before ascending altitude.
    - It significantly reduces risk because less time has to be spent at altitude to acclimatize in traditional way.
    - Several commercial systems exist that use altitude tents, so called because they mimic altitude by reducing the percentage of oxygen in air while keeping air pressure constant to the surrounding.
    3) Altitude acclimatization
    - Altitude acclimatization is process of adjusting to decrease oxygen level at higher elevations, in order to avoid altitude sickness.
    - The rule is to ascend no more than 300m/day to sleep .
    - For high-altitude climbers, a typical acclimatization regimen might be to stay few days at base camp, climb up to higher camp(slowly), and then return to base camp.
    Hope this helps 🍀

I am 60 and have never done the Thorang La but have done the Larkye La (5100m ) which is much harder and KalaPatthar ( 5644m) which is much higher . Whether you get AMS is nothing to do with age or fitness it’s just one of those things but of course proper acclimatisation which you didn’t do , drinking loads of water which you didn’t , taking the Diamox which you took far too late . You were really lucky you weren’t really really Ill and bearing the mind it’s so out of season it could have been terrible . By the way Thorang La isn’t 15000 feet it’s 17,769 feet . Finally never sleep more than 500m above where you slept the night before . Thorong La is not for beginners you need to train . Anyway you’ve learned lesson I hope , great videos and thank good for Molly being there !

The trek wasn't that difficult, you guys as a beginner could do it. It's not being acclimatized enough caused altitude sickness, and can happen to anyone who try to complete the trek faster. Altitude sickness starts at 3500m level and gets profound at 4000m and higher.
You need to carry medicine natural ingredients like garlic, black pepper work wonders as well.

On the other hand Craig is just like me and i can relate so much to him. I'm not saying he's weak but sometimes people upload on yt just to glorify themselves but Craig did upload where it showed how bad he had gotten that he nearly quit. But craig is humble and kind to animals also sometimes philosophical but moreover humble and finds beauty in simplicity. He showed to the world the beauty of Nepal in much more simpler way which just made Nepal much more beautiful. Thank you for visiting my country. Namaste 🙏

Spending a few nights and days in a village amongst village people will absolutely enhance your Nepali experience greatly. I have Nepali friends I first met in 1982 and still keep in regular contact with today. I've been travelling to Nepal since 1982 and did my first Annapurna trek (longer than 2 days) in 2017 aged 69 : Nayapul-Ghorepani-Ghandruk, 3500m - 3 nights - 4 days. One of the highlights of my life. Planning to return again early 2023. Subha yatra- Happy travels.

      Who is complete God?
The Holy Bible gives the answer to this question. Let's find out.
Iyov 36:5 - Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB)
See, El is Kabir, and despiseth, not any; He is Kabir in ko’ach lev (strength of understanding).
Translation: Supreme God is Kabir, but despises no one. He is Kabir, and firm in his purpose.
In all Bible translations, the word Kabir has been translated as "Mighty" or "Great" whereas Kabir is the original name of Supreme God.
Conclusion: This verse of the Bible proves that Kabir is Complete God. The one who worships God Kabir by taking initiation from the complete saint sent by him gets complete salvation. After attaining salvation that souls rest in peace in the eternal abode Satlok forever. The throne of God is in Satlok.

Bravo, guys. Reaching the top of this pass was relatively easy for me. In fact we were dancing and singing around the turning and corners. However, I got cocky and decided to climb up a small hill (~30ft tall) to take photos from higher ground. 10 minutes on the top did so much damage on me, I could hardly see and breathe. I remember seeing glipmses of my friends carrying me down. They put me down for couple of minutes. A guide suggested me to run down to lower altitude asap. I left my bags and gear and started running with one of my friends. I know I wasn’t even running. He was dragging me down the hill. Poor guy. I survived. Anyways, long story short, never underestimate the Annapurna Circuit or any of these mountainous trekkings. Please come prepared with the tools, equipments. Do some in-depth research and preparations. Please be patient and don’t do stupid shits. It’s not that hard but preparation is the key.

Not resting and pushing forward is the biggest mistake while hiking high altitude trails....
A general guide is to not gain elevation more than 300 metres per day.... i.e. supposing you start at 2000metres, then you can go upto 2500 metres but you have to come back down to 2000 or 2200 metres elevation.....
High altitude treks are a "SLOWATHON" not a 100 metre race, that you rush to finish the trek in just 2-3 days.... Everything is planned carefully, keeping in mind the accomodation at various elevations, the nearest medical facility, the time of the year( in case of helicopter rescue, which is dificult in monsoon, due to unpredictable weather)......
You were lucky to have survived.... Many of m friends, went down the heroic path, and landed themselves in 1 month to 45 days in Intensive Care, with ventilator support....few did not make it.....
I get the notion, that you are trying to advocate "affordable travel", but when it comes to health, it is better tot be safe than sorry.

As someone who has done bunch of 14ers in Colorado and have done hike in Nepal i would never do this hike on such thin layer and take it lightly. First thing i would do is go through sites like alltrails or other reputable hiking websites to understand the altitude changes and terrain i would be going through. Also, going through reviews people have posted gives you good enough idea of current conditions. Anyways glad you guys made it. Of course you did practically everything wrong you could do wrong (starting with not staying at Yak Kharka or Ledtar on the way up). Manang-Thorong La in two days is asking for trouble. Better to have at least one acclimatisation day in Manang or Braga, the next day up to Ledtar, next day up to Thorong High Camp, then crossing (so four days). But first you showed future trekkers what NOT to do, which is helping a lot. And second you and your lady are outstandingly loveable characters, seeing all the small things many people don't see, and being so in awe and full of enthusiasm and delight. Going down watch out for your knees and increase in oxygen ...this pass is so quick into the altitude sickness area , and then down you go quickly, GO TOO EVEREST BASE CAMP AREA ,your at this altitude for days , but you need to acclimatize on way up ... not like on this hike .... well done molly all humans react different up there, I had to stopp for 3 days going up to Everest to acclimatise .... well done to you both ...man! Those glaciers sure have retreated a lot ....great video thank you ..again well done Craig and molly ...

Great video of what not to do in the Himalaya. You maybe don't know how close you were to a real life threatening situation. All guide books, the permit office and all the lodges along the way give sound advice of how to avoid this situation, yet every year people ignore and suffer. Craig and Molly please come back and do the same trek again taking the proper precautions, show people how it should be done. Thank you for the education.

Cold air is dense and compact; it's "thicker," so when you breathe in you get more oxygen.
The sun heats the air and separates the molecules more, so when you breathe it is less satisfying.
The blessing is a curse in disguise. That you are thankful for the warmth.

I think it's about physical energy and Haemoglobin in your blood, as you said you live at lowest place you body is adapted to loads of oxygen and even low Hb works for your body but this really backfires at high altitude.

the main mistake you did was climbing up too high without acclimatization , it could have been more dangerous . and other thing is try to speak as least as possible while you are low on Oxygen and inhale from mouth and exhale from nose which helps you from lack of breath problem . It helps you a lot .
    keep trekking guys . ❤️
