Hello! I'm back at it again with another guide to go against a hunter and this hunter particularly is whom many players struggle playing against! Thank you so much for this! I actually kited more than 200 seconds during a rank match, and went down at 2 ciphers but still lost the match because my team mates don’t know what to do with Alva after they refused to rescue :((
Oh, that's an amazing kite! But it is really unfortunate that your teammates didn't rescue. Granted, Hermit is a fairly new so people are still learning how to counter him, but that really is a shame.
I'm glad search up on how to counter him cuz I have no idea how hermit works and always does the mistakes you stated in the video Thank you!
the hardest part is saving teammates when they got chaired time, and teammates who are doctors and barmaids would not share damage / new to hermit and does not know what is happening
As "Little Girl" main i always use memory fragment before Hermit thrown that magnet thing to me cuz that can push him away giving more time to recover from stunt. idk is that good but it save me so many times.
I think that's really good! Especially if it can get you to a kiting area, like if pushing the hunter away can help you get behind a pallet with tall walls around.
Im a hermit main and i have seen lg doing this so be careful bc usually chasing lg i aim in front of her not her directly so if she uses page she gets stunned and the distance is near enough for a hit
As a barmaid player ik how share the damage but the problem when I kite as a barmaid I will take so many hit and other will be injured and be heal in time
Oh, I've been in that situation before! Hermits will try to farm hits on you to damage your teammates, but this can be avoided if they stop decoding for a few seconds to see which polarity Hermit gives you or if you will get hit again within a short time. That way, they'll know whether to keep on decoding or switch polarities. If your teammates can't switch polarities due to cooldown and they're critically injured, you really have to avoid Hermit's charges if they're the same color as your teammates'.

Aww, shucks. ☺ But nah, I don't really have footage for every scenario, so what I do is I spectate the pros, I play in single training mode, and I ask some random people in public chat to help me so I have some clips!

thank you so much for this vid. Ever since hermit was released, I had not idea on how to deal with him. The polarities were such a pain too (only cuz I didn't know it meant that we shared the same damage
he is like an improved evil reptilian and as a merc main, it is extremely difficult to rescue a chaired surv ;_;
I love kiting hermit as a psychologist main with the share dmg he had to hit me about 8 times to drown me (sorry to the helena who got drown 2 time bec of me tho)
For me, im a hermit main and a lot of the stuff here isnt completely true, hermit is a hunter with a lot of strategy needed and it can be played in a lot of ways, my way of playing hermit completely counters some of the counterplay in this video.
I dont connect all 5 ciphers at the start, i only connect 2, one is the closest one to the nearest survivor to hope they will touch it and the other to the one nearest to my spawn or the one which is locked for 50 seconds. This way only 1 person has a charge and they cant split the damage while it makes it easier for me to deal with because it is a 2 hit down, it is even easier if i bring blink for the down hit. But this depends because if i meet a bad kitting survivor, i will connect all ciphers to split the damage.
Second is chair guarding, i discovered a way to effectively chair guard, it is like ann, first shoot 2 different polarity charges at the chair, hit the rescuer and when they go for the rescue, they will be stunned and i will finish my hit recovery by the time they are un-stunned if i bring max berserk. And this a lot of time terror shocks the down hit to the rescuer because the timing is very tight and they thought they can rescue in time. But the charges only last for 8 seconds so you need to be quick, also the damage might split so beware which order you shoot them.
Also if survivors tight kite, i can just shoot the charge at the pallet in the loop so they cant go there or they will gain a charge or get stunned.
Also i realized a lot of hermit players dont use the feature where you can shoot the charge with the teleport eye before teleporting. Even top hermit players dont do this, i only see them use this feature when they try to do the stunning till half rescue strat. The thing to do is first shoot a charge at the survivor, now it is charged, switch polarity and teleport to it , this saves a lot of time and effort especially in places with walls or tight kiting because you can shoot over walls and the teleport ignores most terrain so it is a very powerful trick. Also the survivors might mistake the charge shooting is the teleport and they end up waking the wrong direction and try to avoid it but since the shooting only has a 12 second cd and can be used in quick succession, this allows you to zone them out and they cant avoid the teleport.
This is why i love hermit so much because it is basically unbeatable if you have quick thinking and game planning to use the best strategy in different situations.
Also i love magnets, electricity and electromagnetism
Mmm, I see..! Well, I understand you have a different strategy, but I made this guide based on the many games that I've had against Hermits and almost all of the Hermit players I've met connect the ciphers at the start to slow down decoding. This includes badged Hermit users (who are at Tier 5). The ones that don't connect them end up getting cipher rushed if they get kited.
And what I meant by looping isn't exactly tight kiting, but I guess it didn't occur to me it'd be interpreted that way. I did say that you shouldn't be looping one area and that it's best kiting Hermit around tall walls. I will admit that I failed to mention that he can still shoot charges using the Eye because my thoughts were on kiting him with no presence. However, I also included in my video about the chair guarding, when the Hermit places red and blue charges at the chair, which you could see at 6:13 if you watched the whole video. But thank you for your input! I think you gave me some things to think about, which I appreciate.
How does the cipher progress split between 2 ciphers? I still dont know how this work even with 5 ciphers connected, so im curious
@@noscrubsm Basically, it's like Prisoner's transmission. Your decoding progress is sent to decoded and undecoded ciphers.
@@noscrubsm if hermit connected the ciphers and you are decoding one of them, you will only be decoding 50% of progress on the cipher you are working on, 35% will be shared with the other ciphers the hermit connected and 15% of progress will be lost and wont be used to decode.
But actually the slowdown most of the time is in fact more than 15%, because you only need to decode 5 ciphers and there are 7 ciphers on the map which means if the hermit shares progress on those 2 extra ciphers, those shared will be wasted and most of the time will not be put into use, and dpending on how much ciphers are left and how much people are decoding different ciphers at the same time, it can vary even more. If you divide that 35% of shared progress to how much ciphers are connected, you can find out how much extra progress are wasted on those 2 ciphers and how much the progress is shared between each cipher.
For example, if the hermit connected 5, then 35%/5 is 7%, you are sharing 7% to each other ciphers. But remember that other people also shares the progress to your cipher so thats why sometimes you dont feel like the decoding is slowed as much as you think.
So in conclusion, if you are hermit and you connected the ciphers. if there are more people decoding, you may actually help them late game a bit, but if there are less people decoding and less ciphers left to decode, the slowdown is more visible.
So getting rushed at the start for a hermit player if he didnt connect the ciphers doesnt always mean it is game over for him.
This guide is honestly accurate depending on tier. Ofc higher tier hunters will play a bit smarter or diffrent from this. However some of tips they stated. Still seems helpful
So the most effective way to rush hermit is to have it decode nearby machines? I mean if part of the progress goes to the other machines can it be used to make a good rush?
how many ranked i was accused to throw because i waited at the last cipher machine and people went to pop it because they dont know about hermit cipher sharing...

my only problem is that when I use alva I do not connect immediately to the mashins but much later, so I can take care of the survivor who is kitting me without suffering that the latter does not do the things of this video, poor Alva Lorenz of that video.
That's interesting! Many Hermits I've seen, even top tier ones (whom I've spectated to analyze while making this video) connect ciphers at the beginning to slow down decoding, which it does significantly that when there is an early down, we can't cipher rush the hunter and are forced to rescue so that there are three people decoding and one being chased instead of two people decoding because we decided not to save the other.

I never knew you had to share damage 😭😭 I always switch to the other color bcz I don’t wanna get hit bcz I thought the hunter would have disadvantage that way🥲🥲 never thought you had to share it I’m fairly new to the game😭😭😭😭
If you have a prof in your team, take at least 3 same colors as him. Either he is kiting, and with the hit he will tank the damage with the passive, either he is decoding and he will not be affected by the shock. Also, note that if hermit hit him, it will trigger animation recovery
