I've had this suspicison that ToHK was flaw processed as green tea puerh. Yeeon trad storage almost masks it but not quiet, as you get a lingering bitterness even after 14 years of this storage and a grassy taste. Another reason thar falls in line with this suspicison is that I personally find it quite cold in my bodies core. I don't regret getting a cake, as it was my introduction into more available trad storage shengpu at an affordable price, but now I'd tell others of the better shengpu options you can get from yeeon.
Congratulations on 7.5K subscribers! I was wondering if you could give any more recommendations for raw teas from Yee On? I really like the Purple and Best Taste Ripe, but I am hesitant to blind buy the raw styles. Thank you, Carolyn
@@TeaDB yeah I find that to be a super comforting tea. Would love to see you do a video on it! It’s sold out now. I’m on my second tuo and thankfully bought a third before they sold out.
I'm drinking the Taste of Hong Kong right now (stored for 1 year now in my pumidor at room temperature and 65 RH) and I must say I only get a little bit of astringency and bitterness. It's definitely there, but not more than I would expect from any other raw at this age. I actually quite like that it adds a bit of an edge to the otherwise pretty dank taste.
Mine has improved after arriving. However, I just tried it with your parameters and agree that it's not entirely pleasant. This tea does better at lower ratio.
I think that blend of bitterness/astringency and the trad storage aroma is what drew people to this tea. That and price, of course. It was a tea with dichotomy that maybe didn’t feel as mundane as some trad teas can be and was in a weird in-between space. But I agree this one needs more years in the vault to smooth out a bit further.
Agreed. Trad stored does tend to run together like ripe and this is not a great example of traditionally stored. I will be indeed curious if this does turn the corner at some point.

No problem. Raw-wise I think the Jiangchen brick from 2008? is a pretty good value. More expensive but the 2001 Xiaguan hits the spot for me.
@@TeaDB The 2001 XG Grade A Pine Crane Tuo? That's a favorite of mine too
@@justinsteele8400 That's the one.
