Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use
    Fair use
Additionally, the fair use defense to copyright infringement was codified for the first time in section 107 of the 1976 Act. Fair use was not a novel proposition in 1976, however, as federal courts had been using a common law form of the doctrine since the 1840s (an English version of fair use appeared much earlier). The Act codified this common law doctrine with little modification. Under section 107, the fair use of a copyrighted work is not copyright infringement, even if such use technically violates section 106. While fair use explicitly applies to use of copyrighted work for criticism, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research purposes, the defense is not limited to these areas. The Act gives four factors to be considered to determine whether a particular use is a fair use: the purpose and character of the use (commercial or educational, transformative or reproductive); the nature of the copyrighted work (fictional or factual, the degree of creativity); the amount and substantiality of the portion of the original work used; and the effect of the use upon the market (or potential market) for the original work.

Tommy Morrison was no joke. He was widely derided as an overrated "great white hope" but he was a legitimate, elite heavyweight in his prime. For Foreman, at 44, to take some of Tommy's powerful blows and just keep advancing like that? And to go the distance, no less? Truly amazing. I remember seeing this fight live all those years ago. I was surprised by how well Morrison moved. Clearly he and his corner knew not to make the mistake of standing in front of Big George and thinking Tommy would knock him out if he just landed one or two of his famous big left hooks. My goodness Big George had an incredible chin!
Another thing I remember, which is not shown clearly in this highlights video, is that at one point late in the fight, George had Tommy stunned and Tommy was there for the taking and George didn’t pull the trigger. He was asked about that in the after-fight interview and said he deliberately didn’t knock Tommy out at that point because he saw him as a young man with a great future, or something like that. It was surprising. It made me worried a bit for Foreman because someone who bet on him and lost a pile of money might have been rather upset, and done something about it.
There was a later fight for Foreman, against Shannon Briggs. I think it was his last fight. Foreman clearly won, but the judges gave the win to Briggs. Foreman was remarkably gracious, right after the fight, saying the judges had spoken and congratulating Briggs and telling him to be a good champion and make sure to avoid drugs and so on. And I remember Briggs, who looked very surprised at having been awarded the win, was responding with “yes sir, yes sir” and being very deferential to Foreman.
Foreman was, and is, an amazing human being in many ways.

sure, in retrospect Morrison deserved all his fans. Tyson was a basket case mentally - and he survived. The luck of the draw in the case of Morrison - he was missing that winning card that apparently saved Tyson. Tyson in his later years would certainly have visited Morrison when he knew of his troubles. ... just sayin ...

As a young man I remember being annoyed at Morrison for "running". Watching it again in recent years I realized (as an older more mature man) that he did the right thing and fought a great fight, arguably the top and shining moment of his career. Had he fought Mercer this way maybe he could've outpointed him, although Mercer was a BEAST.
If he was more disciplined he would've been so much more... and what a chin Foreman had!
Boxing was so much better back then...
    R.I.P Tommy Morrison.

watched boxing since the mid 70s, the 90s was unquestionably the greatest era for HW division. So many fighters, big guys, physically fit, deep talent pool, smokes every other decade in sheer numbers, size, quality.

Big George. 81 fights 76 wins 68 knockouts his knockout rate is 1% lower than marcianos. But he fought almost twice as many fights as Marciano, he fought tougher opponents, and fought to the age of 48. He walked through Fraser twice and Norton. 3 of his five losses come at or after age 42 where he fought class fighters 20-24 years younger than him. He fights Ali more intelligently and he wins. Arguably GOAT.

@@veebee3927 yeah I remember that fight. After foreman destroyed both Frazier and Norton no one on earth thought Ali had a chance. But Ali beat him. And he didn’t run around the ring and stay away from him ala mayweather - Ali took every punch big George threw and when he was exhausted Ali knocked him out. We are talking about a man who definitely hit as hard as Tyson It was the greatest sport achievement/ performance I have ever seen. Ali should have retired he had nothing to prove. His legend and greatness was set.
