I was standing in the crowd on this fine glorious day,After ASWAD finished playing they came down into the crowd,just so happens they came down & stood next to me:).it was a fantastic day.
Was at Sunsplash 85 and it was a defining moment in my musical education...Aswad then were a force to be reckoned with...I drew their Lion logo on the wood chip wallpaper of my council house bedroom...my Mum wasn't too happy...'Live and Direct' will always be my number one live album of all time !
I was privileged to be at this event, as well as the year before (August 1983) at MEANWHILE GARDENS in NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL - the performance that is on the LIVE & DIRECT album ...
Hip to them in the early 80's, they came through the SF bay area in '88, I saw them TWICE, they SHOT the place UP, then after them came the 👑 Prince, D.E.B and the cool ruler, Gregory Isaacs doing songs from their album "No contest", I'll NEVER forget that! 😁👍
