I must confess, after so much disappointment with Disney Star Wars I got a little suspicious of you and your peers of shilling. I am glad I that they were unwarranted. I do feel a little bad of a good show not being watched, but we have been burned too many times and if it is good now, what guarantee do we have that KK and other SJW activists will not spoil it in the future?
i hope star wars shows continue in this direction with actually good writing intertwined with those universal themes that make these stories feel so compelling

I mean we got Bad Batch and Clone Wars season 7 which were both good. They were doing some good and hot take. I liked Kenobi. Otherwise I would agree. I guess I can see the good and bad in the current Star Wars situation. But anyway sorry for rambling
That moment when Luthen was listening to Maarva's speech was so potent for me. Skaarsgard's acting was subtle but perfect. I could feel him thinking "this lady is đŻ on point, sh!t's about to pop off, which is exactly what we need"
But I also felt she brought him back a bit. Brought him back that these people are going to be the ones that will bear the brunt of the sacrifice he is asking of them, that they are good people, that they matter. And he should never forget that.
During her speech, yes, but afterwards, you could tell that he had avoided thinking about the cost that would be paid by the average people who would be doing the fighting. (Just like Cassian had never stopped to think about how others would be affected by things he did.)
I was thinking he was contemplating revealing himself to the empire, aka help the people fight but no heâs still playing the long game lol
Luthen was like, forget Andor we are witnessing something much more important...
It is one thing to work towards starting a rebellion, from the shadows, and another to see it actually happen
Maybe that's why he doesn't kill Cassian. Luthen's thinking if Marva's the mother, I can't kill his son.
I don't what's more unsettling, the fact I spent the first half of the show rooting for Deedra, or that by end I was rooting for the mob to rip her apart đŹ
To be fair, it was easy to cheer for her early on, as she was clearly pushing up against that Imperial glass ceiling despite being more qualified than her peers. We just got reminded as the show progressed that the Empire are the bad guys, and she WANTS to excel within those ranks. đ€Ł
At first it was 'yeah go Dedra she's really good at her job" and then it was Oh shit - Dedra's really good at her job!đ±

I loved how much weight the marching band scene carried, because like Maarva said at the end of the 3rd episode, "That's what a reckoning sounds like. It's when it stops, that's when you'll really want to start to fret." I was on the edge of my seat because I knew just like in the 3rd episode, shit was about to get really ugly.
When they reach the top of Rix Road and pause for a moment before the music switches from âmournfulâ to âspiritedâ all of the hair on my arms stood up straight
The music also has that extra emotional resonance with Bix's story because she was being tortured with the screams of anguish of a people the empire destroyed, and she was roused from her stupor by the funeral music of a people who refused to be destroyed.
Andor was an 11/10 this was peak Star Wars it feels like a universe and so real and authentic with so much soul.

One of the things I really loved is that they didn't make funeral song sound like professionals were doing it. It sounded messy and like it was made with cheap instruments. It made it feel so much more real that way than if it was some perfect Star Wars song
It sounded and felt very much like the funeral dirges played in New Orleans.

Agreed that Mando reflects what brought me to fandom as a kid.
Andor reflects what keeps me a fan as an adult, and makes me want to share the story with my kids.

Ardor really showed how many stories can be told in the Star Wars universe
And to focus on the little people, the normal people, not just those with uncommon superpowers in this galaxy or one family. The brilliance of Star Wars is its lore and setting, you can do so much with that, but for most of the franchise they've been narrowly focused on one family and a couple groups of people.
And that we dont have always need to go with legacy characters
with only a bit of good writing
Right, we don't always need Jedis or Siths anymore, Andor showed that SW universe is composed by common people fighting for their right to live free and get rid of Empire's goons.
My dream to one day have a show or movie focused on podracing is still alive.
I loved how they dragged Bee out of the battle like he was a comrade worthy of love
I also like how Bee, the stuttering and "insecure" droid (if droids can indeed be insecure) was right in the front lines and playing Marva's call to fight, kind of like the Flag bearer going into battle.

It's established in the Old Republic canon that *droids develop personality quirks* when they have gone too long without a *memory wipe.* I like to think that includes development of a consciousness, and Bee has gone so long without a memory wipe that his hard drive and RAM are running out of space and he _developed that stutter._
I really hope that Bee will become in part of the K-2SO we know from Rogu One.
I loved Andor. It truly builds the stage for the Original trilogy. I mean when Luke shows up the rebellion is very organized compared to what we are seeing here. It's so cool to see the gritty sacrifices people made at the beginning of the rebellion to put this all together. Losing a faction of the rebellion, giving away your daughter for liquid funds. Incredible.
this could've been a series about the French Resistance, and would've worked just the same, brilliant

Yeah, the timeline being built and connected is great, from the evolution of the rebellion from a very small thing with individual cells barely doing actual warfare (besides Saw Gerrara) in Ahsoka to this glimpse of factions forming in Andor to Rebels' look at those factions being more evolved and allying together to eventually the opening of full war in Rogue One with Scarif and stuff
Great episode, but Brasso killed it. A wholesome teddy bear, checks up on Marva, stays with a lonely droid, but when you piss him off. Oh Boy, he'll brain ya with a Marva brick.
I feel sad that Brasso isn't my friend in real life, just want to hang out and drink lom beer with him after a hard day's work, he's such a good dude.
This was the most entertaining and exciting watch I've had from Star Wars in a long, long time. Takes me back to the feeling I had watching ESB as a kid and being totally blown away.
A few of my favorite things about this show:
- Absolutely incredible performances and characterizations for Maarva, Kino, Luthen, etc. Maarvaâs posthumous speech was INCREDIBLE, and I hope we see Kino again in season 2, Andy Serkis did a masterful job with the character.
- The way that the show portrayed life under the Empire from the point of view of an average citizen, from Cassian and the corpos at the beginning to full on direct Imperial control toward the end. Stormtroopers are dangerous and deadly again and defy the memes that have popped up about them.
- The gradual increase in the number of aliens. At the beginning there are basically no aliens - itâs the Empire, the Empire has its High Human Culture. As the pieces of the Rebellion start falling into place, you start seeing more and more aliens.
- The political intrigue in the ISB and within the Mothma family was incredibly compelling.
- The Eye of Aldhanj and Luthenâs escape are the best action scenes in Star Wars history.
But light sabers on a space ship? And the more maneuverable/faster ships actually getting close enough that you can use them? Uggh.

Andy Serkis is growing old, I don't think he can or should perform repeatedly in one series as he is also very in demand. His character was great and he got a bittersweet ending. There will be space for other Rebel heroes yet.
Brasso bashing that Imperials head in with Marva's brick was honestly perfect.
One of my favorite parts of the finale was the brutal effectiveness of the stormtroopers. The stormtroopers at that time weren't used to fighting a formal military but were a suppression force. It really shows in Andor
All this talk of community and family makes me fear a Star Wars series about pod-racers that keep telling us "It's all about family." đ€Ł

Andor was so well written and produced, even the weak episodes were great. Same can't be said for BoBF or Kenobi.
Andor was definitely a step up from the other series. I loved Kenobi, but Andor was incredible.
None of the episodes are weak, just weaker. That's one of the huge reasons why this show shines so much

@@anydaynow01 I thought everyone did a great job in Kenobi. It was a very well done series, I was getting worried for Obi Wan in the beginning, but he got his mojo back and it got really good.
When an hour-long finale feels only 20 minutes long, you know they're doing many things right!

I haven't actually felt something with Star Wars til i watched this series. The world building was done at a perfect pace. Nothing felt rushed, or short handed with this Star Wars series. Everything felt lived in with every step of this experience.
:) I haven't actually felt something with Star Wars since ESB acame out... But of course my standards were rather different back then as a 12-year old!
What I like about it is there could easily be a season dedicated to each miniarch in the series. From the corporate crackdown on Ferrix to the Aldoni heist to the prison then back to ferrix could all easily have been their own seasons but Andor manger to make all characters and locations feel flush out and not rushed in only 12 episodes
@@NarrowGate117 I'd argue that _Andor's_ pacing feels 'fast' compared to all those shows dragging their feet with three episodes of plot smeared across ten episodes without any filler plots to enjoy in between main plot beats.

I remember rewatching that a few years ago thinking to myself "I forgot how good this movie was". ESB is the closest to film art that star wars has ever been. Theres a very good reason ESB is considered the best star wars film.

Well, we're not kids anymore. And perhaps many old fans will be awakened to that with Andor. This has been outstanding for what it has done for our enjoyment of Star Wars now and Star Wars past. I've been re-watching Star Wars Rebels with another younger content reactor. Star Wars Rebels is now even better and more entertaining in the context of Andor. Andor is precisely what Star Wars needed. It will enhance many of the other TV series and films. It will make some projects better in hindsight. It will inspire better content for the next generation of fans.

I know right, people discount Rebels but that show did more to push the force lore and rebel army buildup than anything besides the games and some TCW episodes. Plus there was Thrawn, admittedly watered down since it was a kids show but still, his essential elements came through especially in the later seasons.

The Meero crawling on the ground scene reminded me of a sentence:

She was the best part of the show, such a good character and needs to be in it more. ISB is a real threat in the show and not just a side show filled with idiots like most Imperial portrayals since Disney took over.

@@marshamoseley5878 pretending like the overconfidence and arrogance shown in the OT is comparable to what happened in the Disney TV shows and the Sequel Trilogy is like comparing a candle to the sun, both are sources of light, but are very different in scale.
Yeah, all the "Mary Sue callers" about how she was rising through the ranks too fast got to eat humble pie. How she was involved in the riot sequence was just a masterpiece of story telling of someone who is used to getting their way in a bubble but when reality hits they just get smacked down, literally in her case. In a way the season cyclically ended just like it began so Meero and Karn are going to either be fast friends in season 2 or bitter enemies. When it comes down to it I think Karn is the tool Meero needs to get her way.

I have never been so happy to be wrong in all my life. Iâm so happy that the fandom for the most part seems to be in agreement that this show is really something special.
Gilroy just managed to create the first Dark and Deep niche SW thriller not only setting the bar very high in terms of quality (acting, directing, writing, dialogues/monologues) but also to keep the quality constant throughout the season - ending it with a genius executed finale. Constant tension throughout the finale and with the flashback to Clem, Brasso meeting Andor, Nemik's manifesto and maarva's speech this onion moments. And yeah Stormtroopers and the Deathstar are now really intimidating after this show.
After watching 12 episodes of Andor and getting to know the character and what he has been through, it's even sadder to know what his fate will be. But at least the sacrifice of him and his team helped turn the tide of the war.
Ya, closing scene of episode 11 was very poignant for that reason

Star Wars was on life support. With Andor, it woke up and recognized its family.
Disney is going to destroy it eventually like they have the MCU, but I'll enjoy this while it lasts.

Dude this series is absolutely amazing. This is what Star Wars should be. This thing feels exactly how a rebellion should go down.
Some of my favorite things about Andor S1:
-The chain of events that results in the destruction of the Death Star, was initiated by two rent-a-cops trying to jump a random guy in an alleyway. That's one F*CK of a butterfly effect!
-The very first kill in the first case of **open** revolt against the Empire, was made with a brick consisting of 85% ferrocrete and 15% stubborn old lady what hated Imperials.
-Luthen's sacrifice rant was the first time Star Wars literally gave me chills since my first watch of ESB. When he said "I share my dreams with ghosts" an actual shiver went up my spine.
-Despite Gilroy's claims, there was plenty of fan service. It was just done tastefully, blending into the scenery in an unobtrusive manner. A scrapped y-wing here, a familiar pistol or helmet there.
-Cassian, unwillingly and unknowingly, helps build the giant f*cking gun that eventually blows his ass up in ~5 years' time.
-A story you can actually sink your teeth into, as opposed to the cotton candy and bubblegum the last couple live-action shows have been.
(edit: Don't get me wrong, cotton candy and bubblegum are delicious, and have their place. But when you're hungry for fried chicken or steak, they don't hardly hit at all, y'know?)

I'm amused that Syril being a busybody smuck may have inadvertently doomed the empire. Yeah, a lot of other factors in play but if Syril had obeyed his boss and not looked into the two dead rent a cops none of the rest of the events revolving around Cassian might have happened.
I think what was so profound during the episode was how both Nemik's and Maarva's words seemed to mirror each other in their calls to resist the Empire's tyranny.
I REALLY enjoyed this show. It was 12 episodes long, and it still felt too short. I'm looking forward to the next seasons, and I really hope more Star Wars shows can carry this kind of weight and narrative.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will get a Saw Gerrera show next from this production team after they are done with Andor, tying in his story from TCW to Andor.
Take this approach they used with Andor and apply it to a Rogue Squadron series. Look to Battlestar Galactica for guidance along with older cinema dealing with the Battle of Britain which George already did some with the OT. EASY recipe for success and profit.

The New Caprica arc is the only time it really got back to hitting it out of the park.
SGT Mosk was my favorite new Star Wars character, and his arc in the finale sealed it for me. SW needs more Scotsmen!

Maybe Ferrix becomes a planet that is heavily engaged with the Rebellion, supporting it with manpower, material etc. Hell maybe Rebel ships and starfighters come to use it as a base or a repair/refuel station.
I love how Maarva become basically a literal meaning of rebellion when Brasso used her stone urn to beat the shit out of an imperial as initially it was the spark of what made Andor become one lol. To quote a legend "its sorta like poetry, it rhymes"
Can we just admire the fact that Brasso not only used the brick a number if times but also headbutted a storm trooper? That was awesome!!!

A headbutt to the helmet is one of the few ways I can see an unarmed human actually hurting someone in armor.
It still irks me the number of people we saw in _The Mandalorian_ punching beskar armor bare-handed, something that should have been ineffective at more than breaking the puncher's hand.
Star Wars hasnât made me cry in terms of live action until now

Literally perfect start to finish, it was absolutely incredible and consistent throughout
Andor hooked me so much so that I wanted my viewing experience to have no distractions. I put down my phone, turned down the lights, and watched the episodes on my monitor. I didnât want to miss a single detail and even in times of the show being very much a slow burn, I enjoyed every second of it. Iâm definitely looking forward to watching season 2 in the coming years
I tried so hard to have that experience for the season finale, too! A family member came in after it had started and I practically begged them to just give me 22 uninterrupted minutes until the end, no chit chat, no asking whoâs that and why did they do that. (They couldnât manage it...) For season 2, maybe Iâll lock all the doors! đ
When the funeral scene began, I could feel the tension mounting. I also heard my dog barking outside and prayed that someone else in the family would come let him in because I really didn't want to break the tension. I don't even think I drank out of my glass of water I was so glued to the screen
Lets show disney that this is the kind of content we want we need the viewership to go up
something that a lot of people arent talking about is Nemik's mannifesto. like that actually felt like it was written by a true revolutionary. not a rebel but a revolutionary. when i rewatched the episode i was just in awe in how did the writers managed to capture that revolutionary feel in this day and age. this show is like a gift that keeps on giving
The most hype moment Iâve ever felt in all of Star Wars comes down to just a few words: âONE WAY OUT!â
Watching this episode it was clear that the actors and actresses truly loved their characters and what they were doing. The events were personal to the characters and the performers made it work.
Some observations...
1. The uniforms that were worn by the workers really reminded me (especially the hats) of those worn during the Russian Revolution in 1917.
2. I said on another video that B2 would be instrumental in sparking whatever happened...and it was. That little droid was the true innocent victim.
3. What made this really work for me is that the characters were relatable; that is, we all know a Bix, Brasso, Dedra, Syril, Linus, Luthen, Mon Mothma, etc. from our daily lives.
4. Someone needs to invent paving technology...every town seems to be a high tech, dirt road version of a frontier town...
5. The combat...finally someone did combat right. I still don't understand why the Stormtrooers don't use stocks, but at least the Deathtroopers do.
6. I was surprised when Vel showed up and was talking with Cinta...I was getting the vibe that Vel was going whack her and fade into the background. Just how the dialog was and then, "come over here..." I had the scene from Goodfellas when Joe Pesci's character got whacked in my mind for some reason.
Andor was the show I expected the least of but became the show that blow me away the most. Even if they aren't really comparable, but I think I liked Andor more then Mandalorian. Don't get me wrong, both are great shows, but Andor was so unbelievably great. I have no words. The finale was stunning. Reminded me of Les Miserables "do you hear the people sing".
A few kinks aside, it was a real treat man. I genuinely LOVED things in evey episode with a few slower parts and under used characters (Lucien in the finale). Great video as always brother.
He wasnât underused, he did what made sense in the world of the show, what would you rather have had him do?
My favorite part of this show was how the seeds of the rebellion was depicted. It was a delicate tightrope that multiple players had to walk and if any of them were to stumble it could have all fallen apart

It was a phenomenal show all around - writing, acting, cinematography, sets, costumes, etc. - great storytelling that just happened to have a sci-fi backdrop.
Wow, Marva's speech, Cass listening to Nemik and the people rage was something very powerful. It makes me wonder about whats happening around in real life.
I have never in my life ever experienced anxiety from a marching band just marching and playing music. This episode is FANTASTIC.
This series is a masterclass in film. This is how you do film and television. Period. This is what I crave. Give me more of this. All of this. Just. More. I will buy tickets to his next movie. I will watch this as a trilogy. Just give me more of this.
For those out there who were wondering about episode breakdowns for this show, the Channel... "Generation Tech" put out some really good videos after each episode. Plus other miscellaneous videos, that were also good.
"Star Wars Explained" also has a bunch of terrific Andor videos. Both channels have been my go-to for Andor reactions/analyses/breakdowns.
It makes me happy seeing how happy everyone else was from this show. I loved it, and I really want everyone else too ha. It absolutely dwarfs all the other shows made for such a litany or reasons. I am hopeful that star wars shows going forward have this level of quality.
Andor was slow, and it took me to the end of the 3rd episode to realise I was watching a masterpiece unfold every wednesday
Was an absolute BANGER. Incredible all the way thru. The acting from Denise Gough when Dedra was rescued by Syril. You can easily believe she thought she was going to die and is shocked by the rescue. She's shaking from the adrenaline and shock. Chef's kiss for the entire season! đ

The slaughter after the funeral broke my heart and felt way too familiar to real world events in my country and around the world in recent years. I hope the people of ferrix get justice for everyone they lost it was horrifying.
This episode proved that Storm Troopers really can shoot straight and true. Especially the heavy blaster gunner that managed to pick off a rioter who climbing behind a trooper with a shot.
They calm down without the force users around.
I just wish they didnât kill any of them off, it doesnât make sense for an elite shock troop to be killed by a civilian even if they are hardened by a back breaking job.
@@dimitris2936 Even an elite force member can be taken out by the mob when they come en masse. Real life incidents proved that it's possible and did happened.
Take the Blackhawk down incident in Mogadishu for example.
Being part of an elite force doesn't make you invincible and untouchable.

@@AlexSDU I am aware of that, but itâs a civilian unarmed riot not a combat scenario. And besides knowing what these guys go through for training makes a death like this insulting. I know elites arenât untouchable but that doesnât mean they cannot have a casualty-less mission.
I interpreted Luthenâs scene of self reflection differently. I think he knew he helped inspired the rebellion that took place on Ferrix because he said he knew the heist on Aldhani would bring about further oppression by the Empire which would breed rebellion. And remember Aldhani was the moment that inspired Maarva to take up arms against the Empire. I think Luthen in this moment of self reflection really realized the blood he had on his hands. Similar to Palpatine, heâs always been a character who operates from the shadows who rarely gets his hands directly dirty. He wants revenge for some wrong the Empire caused him, and heâs willing to sacrifice everything for it. In this moment though, by experiencing firsthand all the death his actions caused, he realized there are ways in which heâs no different than the Empire. Through the ends justify the means moral framework heâs adopted for the cause, he sees that in some ways he simply canât distinguish himself from the evil of the Empire. I think he genuinely questioned the cause for a second during this moment. However, he is by this point to far gone and committed to the cause that thereâs no going back for him.
Either way, I can see it the way you do.
He knows what hes doing is evil, but its to fight a greater evil, and he believes this needs to be done. Nevertheless he clearly doesn't like it, he hats his actions and himself, but he does it anyway. And he may not even be wrong, what the Death Star truly is, is the death of hope and freedom. That's what makes him, to me, one of the best written characters I've seen on TV.
Thatâs why he smiled when Andor came back begging for more. Further âconsent to be governedâ gave him the push to continue without moral quandary
Well, if Luthen didn't truly see himself as a baddie, he's been more than willing to share that idea with others when it suits him. That was part of his discussion with Saw about not warning Kreegyr.
I don't disagree that that was likely the first time he's truly seen the results of rebellion.

@@boobah5643 Kreegyr has probably got to be the best most memorable off screen unimportant character on TV ever. Does anyone else find it incredible how this show somehow made an off screen character like kreegyr seem so memorable.

I have greatly enjoyed Andor, to the point I think it is the best show done so far of the star wars shows. It just has a feel to it so many are missing and while Mando was more nostalgic for me Andor had more emotion and gave us reasons to truly dislike the Empire.

This is my favourite Star Wars show so far. I don't get it how some people could hate it because it was slow or didn't have lightsabers or 5 cameos each episode. It was perfectly written, perfectly played... it was perfect... perfect, everything done to the last detail.
Loved the marching band music score and everything from the first second of episode 1 right thru to the last second of episode 12. BRAVO! Gilroy Bros, the Cast, Lucasfilm, ILM, and all the magic film technicians that made this the best dam television ever!
No volume either. It has its place but it can't replace real locations and natural lighting.

I left this same comment on another of Eckharts videos but I feel SO validated by the fan response to Andor. I was really excited when the show was announced because I liked Cassian Andor's character in Rogue One, and I think Diego Luna is a very talented and underappreciated actor. So many of my friends thought I lame for that, saying that the show was unnecessary and nobody wanted it, and look at how good it ended up being.
I'm one of those people. I didn't care for Andor in Rogue One, I actually found him unlikeable (as he was supposed to be, in a way). In fact, I didn't really care about any of the characters, which is the main reason why I wasn't a big fan of Rogue One, despite of the aspects it did really well. The only new canon show I was slightly hyped for was the Obi-Wan series, because of Ewan McGregor, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment (as expected). When they announced Andor, I didn't care at all. The trailers looked bad and I didn't like the character, so I expected the show to either be really bad or simply uninteresting and boring.
Having said that, I recently started to watch the series with a friend (who had the same sentiment) and today, we finished it. We are simply BLOWN AWAY by HOW GOOD this series is! Maybe I'm still in my honeymoon phase, but at the moment, I'm willing to say that it's one of my top Star Wars media. Keep in mind, I'm saying this as a Legends purist who considers the new canon to be an alternative universe, so it means something! I don't even know where to start praising the show! The characters! Every character was fleshed out, interesting and understandable! The series was full of all this "boring" mundane stuff, which I always loved in Star Wars books, and it made it interesting to watch! There were episodes without any action at all and these episodes were still exciting! All the little accurate details only hardcore nerds would notice (correct Imperial uniforms, Imperial Army troopers, stormtrooper officers, etc. - the only nitpick I have is X-wings in 5 BBY, but whatever, lol). I have to stop now, because I would only ramble on, but man, do I love this show!
Do you by any chance know if it was a financial success? I hope so, because I want Disney to know that THIS is the shit we want!

@@wilhufftarkin8543 I'm quite confident that it was a financial success because the decision was made very quickly to start filming a second season based on how the show performed, so I'm pretty sure it did good numbers. I'm with you, by the way, of being a Legends enthusiast. My favorite Star Wars content still is in the weird and out of the box Legends comics and novels from back in the day.
Andor is wonderful. Iâll watch this first season again soon. Loved it.
You donât know why they ended up on Ferrix? Its a lot more understandable than everybody always ending up on Tattoine. They ended up on Ferrix because that is where Cassian was from, and Luthen was there to kill him as potentially someone who could identify him, because he was aware the Empirical authorities were trying to identify him. Cassian was there to recuse Bix, because he had learned from Tino that you have to be willing to sacrifice yourself for your own people even if you cant benefit from it yourself. And the Empire was there because the trail of evidence from the killing of two security guards and the heist both led to Cassian, and they knew his mother had died and figured he might show up for her funeral and they knew he could identify Luthen.
I canât believe this series actually exists. Especially coming from the dark times of the last yearsâŠ
I donât need anything else from Star Wars except more and more Andor like this season 1. Youâll agree with me that we donât need no Jedi or Sith to enjoy and be happy with a great story, even more so in the SW universe.

My ONLY gripe with this show (if I had to find one, it's an absolute masterpiece). Is that we just gave up on the 'finding his sister' plotline. That was the driving force behind the first few eps, but now it just feels like a storytelling device to justify the flashbacks of Cassian's backstory. Seems very weird to me we never came back to it after Maarva told him to stop. Andor is not someone who would just stop. Now though, with the Rebellion, seems EXTREMELY unlikely we'll get payoff with that. Any time spent looking for her would seem selfish and a waste.
Still my favourite piece of Star Wars media since the original trilogy though.
The dynamic between Cassian and Jyn has been elevated exponentially because of this series, Rogue One has been elevated, the Empire has been elevated as well. This series has done exactly what I wanted it to and more. Enhancing the universe in the best way possible. Nothing felt random or out of place. Every character felt real and had a purpose. The story was very much Star Wars, no Jedi or Sith were needed to tell a great story. Now the long wait for season 2 begins.
One of the things I loved is it gave an opportunity for the empire to show how smart and cruel it could be to cause a rebellion, a way the rebellion was financed and organized, and how common citizens can be pushed to have small rebellious acts build to larger actions. Shows typically only show big and famous people's acts of fighting back. This gives life to the thousands of extras in the background that would have come from similar backgrounds.

They don't publish those numbers, but I've seen that the estimated budget is roughly the same per episode as Kenobi and Boba Fett. Which is a pretty damning indictment of those other two shows if that's true.

Andor has raised the bar so high and shown what is possible with great writing, amazing acting and beautiful cinematography, this is the new benchmark by which all others shall be measured against.

I just finished Andor season 1 yesterday and it is better than anything Disney Star Wars has done. The people who directed and wrote Andor need to be in charge of all of Star Wars. Right after Andor I saw Ashoka and it was so bad compared to Andor.

I know I'm not alone in this opinion, but Andor was that show I never asked for, but was glad they made it. Long season; slow burn; no overt mentions of The Force. Heck, as a prequel, it suffered from prequel syndrome of lack of stakes (knowing the character will survive to the future). But man! Was it great! And Andy Serkis to boot?? Please and Thank You!

@@Ronin---- Plenty of things are better than their prerequisites, though? To stay within Star Wars, TCW season one isnât better than, say, season five just because five wouldnât exist without it. Iâm not sure why that is relevant.
The build-up to everything centralizing on Ferrik was intense. Overall enjoyed the show; I also cackled during that part where Brasso smacked an Imp with the Maarva brick.
The heist and the prison breakout were some of coolest things ever. I hope season 2 is packed full of more of that.
Its extremely interesting to me that you think Dedra is a 2D purely evil character. I think they included the scene of her interaction with Cyril, when he kind of jumped out at her to ask her to let him help one more time, and the long shot of her whole reaction to being trampled on by the mob, in order to humanize her. In my eyes, she is a perfect Star Wars version of a the military daughter trope. We didn't get to meet her family or know really any of her background, but in my opinion its obvious that she has grown up with an immense sense of pressure to perform, evident through her extremely high standards and complete emotional blankslate. She seems to feel she needs to be a robot, but IMO theres still a human being inside of there. Also, I would argue that she isn't outright evil just because she is climbing the ranks of the ISB, and doing horrible things along the way. The ISB is a good representation of our real world intelligence agencies, that we know have done absolutely horrible things in the name of safety and liberty (and obviously, in actuality, $$$). The people working for those agencies aren't all evil people, they believe they are committing necessary atrocities in pursuit of a net positive. Same with powerful politicians, or wartime generals. Sure, some of people in the above mentioned professions are outright evil and sought out their positions of power for psychopathic/sadistic/greed based desire, but I do believe the majority think they're doing a good thing. We as human beings naturally go to extreme lengths to convince ourselves that we're right in our actions, save for the psychopathically mentally ill. And I personally believe Dedra thinks she's a good person, committing necessary atrocities in the name of security and control.
I could be wrong, in no way do I mean to state this is a fact, this is just my personal interpretation/opinion. Anyways, love the video. Couldn't agree more with the vast majority of what you said, especially about it being your favorite Star Wars show. I may go even further and say its my favorite thing to come out of Disney Star Wars. Best moments, best emotion, best characters. And they don't even have LIGHTSABERS OR THE FORCE! Really, this show made all the other writers look like muppets. After Andor, I hope us as fans don't let Disney go back to boring fan-service driven blockbusters pieces. The sequel movies were the greatest example of that, but Boba Fett was equally disappointing due to his prior reputation. The Mandalorian is fire, but repetitive and reliant on a far off end goal, like many animes. I think Andor is the most intelligent plotline Star Wars has ever had, and I desperately hope that this serious, 'mature' side of Star Wars becomes a continuous thing.
