    Rescue 750 Presents:
Installing the camshaft on your CB750 Honda Motorcycle restoration. The old Honda 750 is great to restore. Everything is easy to get to and easy to repair and rebuild. Only a small number of tools are needed to make this old vintage motorcycle a runnable machine. The cam SOHC, single overhead cam, is pretty easy to replace but it does require removal of the engine to get to it, unlike some of the DOHC machines.
This video shows some of the tricks of the backyard mechanic, me. Looking at wear patterns on old parts and some of the problems in which many riders and mechanics would consider the parts unusable, can be deceiving. Sometimes the part would be considered unusable, but the cost would make a rebuild very expensive if the part wasn't used. Some of the problems, like parts of the babbet on the rocker arms, aren't really a problem that would ever affect the running or life of the motorcycle at all can be lived with. But, other wear patterns can cause tremendous problems. Someone who does not have a lot of experience with these wear patterns may use a part that is going to cause them a lot of problems in the future. This is why I made this video, so motorcycle builders would be able to get their motorcycles running at the lowest possible price. It seems unreasonable to sink four or five hundred dollars into a machine that you only paid a hundred dollars for. And, many times a person doesn't need to sink that money into the machine. But, to a rebuilder, the parts must be in new condition and to a backyard mechanic, the parts will last just fine, as long as they are using good oil.

I degreed the cam and the stock sprocket was right on. Just because some of my other engines had their stock cam so far out of timing, I bought a slotted cam chain sprocket, but never used it. I'm disabled so the bike is still sitting in the garage almost done. I have worked on it for three years and at many times I worked when I wasn't feeling very well so I'm afraid that I may have some mistakes, let's hope not. Thank you very much for viewing and have a nice day. C. Jeff Dyrek.

Yes I degreed the engine and I had to use my flight calculator and I cut the degree wheel off of it for my degree wheel. Now I don't have a flight calculator, but I'm disabled and can no longer fly anyway. However, I sure like riding my motorcycle better than flying anyway. The bike runs super strong, better than I had expected, but the clutch breaks loose when it hits 8000 RPM and the remote oil tank lines are leaking. So, there's some more work to be done. Thank you very much and have a nice day.
