- Neil Armstrong may have been the first person to walk on the moon, but he wasn't the only astronaut on the Apollo 11 mission; someone had to stay onboard the ship.

If you think about it, Collins was the most important Man on
the mission. Because without Collins, the other Two would
not have had a return trip home
what would happen if collins went down the rocket?
aabyss gaming theyd all die if that happened
Steve Dodge u r right
I had no idea. He deserves more..
+Sanam Vaswani We thought so too. Thanks for watching Sanam!

lety
Yes
Micheal Collins: The most humble astronaut in the world
And as you can see, after 2 years not even 1 million watched it. But i know who he is and i'm proud about that.
Miska Härkänen awww

What a humble man
He is indeed. I have had to pleasure of meeting him and can tell you he acts like an average man! I was very impressed with him , his wit, and his story in the book 'Carrying the Fire"
@ William Collins
"He is indeed. I have had to pleasure of meeting him and can tell you he acts like an average man! I was very impressed with him , his wit, and his story in the book 'Carrying the Fire" "
I think have found my first book to read in 2018!

Josh Patterson I
What a HUBBLE man
Ok, I'll leave now
Even more humble when you read his book "Carrying the Fire" and his boss Deke Slayton basically offered him the Commanders position for what would become Apollo-17 that last Apollo landing mission. He turned it down because he realized the impact that the demands of being a astronaut was having on his family. He choose his marriage and children over the chance to walk on the lunar surface.
Michel Collins is one of the most inspirational personalities among Apollo astronauts, humble, combining great, brilliant sense of humor with deepest seriousness and feeling of responsibility - which are not contradictory at all but together make a real man, real human.
I've known about him for quite a while now. I always felt somewhat sorry for him that he was known as "forgotton". but now that I know he's cool with it then that's fine really. But he should definitely not be forgotten.
Braiden Smith l
I can't believe people don't know who he is... We know the names of all the others who made the first steps towards the advance of our civilization, and yet people don't know who one of the three men are who made probably the biggest leap.
+Josh Wolfe so you're broke or something?
Josh Wolfe no, just PAY attention bro
Don't flame me 🔥😕
Josh Wolfe 😄😎 it's cool bro
+VintageLJ when we read history of battle, we only know the main guy participated in the fight and not the one that supply him with bullet, food, or the transportation guy
One thing that this teaches me is that popularity is not a measure of success and fulfilment. Success and Fulfilment come from within.
Thank you Seeker Stories for making this video. Not only is he the Loneliest Man but also the most forgotten too considering he was a part of one of the most memorable moments in human history.
Forgotten? Please. Perhaps, though only by those too young to remember the actual events...He certainly was never forgotten by those who intently watched in awe as the events unfolded live and have continued to appreciate the milestone ! He was and is forever a member of a team of men who reached the moon. Period. Never forgotten by me and my contemporaries ! No he certainly wasn't lauded like the others, but he said he never resented that fact and I don't think it was because he was forgotten.
+Adam Shaiken true, however the young generations will only remember the most famous one. Like during the American Revolution, do we actually remember all the guys that fight under Washington or side by side. Washington only won a few big battles. We should change the education system and start teaching children the unsung heroes/ heroines and not the one that already being glorified by history like Washington, Franklin, Lincoln...
If neither of you are familiar with her channel yet, then let your hearts be lifted to know that there are people (even young ones) who still care deeply, myself included... Amy Shira Teitel
EDIT: The link didn't work. That's a channel name, fwiw.
+thinh nguyen I learned about the French guy Marquis de Lafayette who fough alongside Washington in school.
no one knew he was there....
Because he wasn't there. No one was. They were in some posh hotel room etc., living it up... ON EARTH. Don't forget the Firmament folks.... there is no space.
This upload is so strange, because just this morning my boss was telling me how his little boy is at a NASA space camp today with one of the "famous astronauts". I said "Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong...I can't think of the other one". So I get on CZcams and there he is. Haha full circle.
+AnthroKnowledgey Neil is dead, you know that right?
+darkminer64 Hahaha of course! I was just trying to list the "famous astronauts"
+AnthroKnowledgey
For me, as a space buff and pilot, this video seemed strange in another way. I suppose intellectually I know that this isn't everyone's "thing" but to hear it explained this way I couldn't help but feel like I should put myself in the place of people who do think of NASA as only having two astronauts.
In case my tone comes across wrong, I don't mean any offense to you by this, just providing another perspective :). And I thought the video was well done.
+AnthroKnowledgey Here at Seeker Stories we pride ourselves on reading minds.
+Seeker Stories Hahaha, that's what a good business does!
If you love the space program, I can highly recommend his book, "Carrying the Fire". It pretty much takes up where "The Right Stuff" leaves off. And it does it from the point of view of one of the guys who was there doing it.
Collins is also one of the few astronauts that wrote his own biography, no ghost writers etc. The book was also written in 1974 so a lot of memories were still fresh for him.
Rest In Peace, Michael Collins. Without his piloting skills Aldrin and Armstrong wouldn't have made the journey to and from the Moon, but Michael was so humble that he would not even think of himself as being at the same level of history-making as his fellow astronauts. Mr. Collins was not in the public's mind nor the media's spotlight as his colleagues but his biography Carrying the fire was and still is the best memoir by which astronauts measure success. God be with you in your final journey, Michael Collins.
Michael Collins u r the best ever space explorer u r the first person to do more than one spacewalk and u helped men to make it to the moon!U r my hero u do not deserve to be forgotten
This video is great it is a history that need to be teach.....
I read a children's chapter book called "I love you Michel collins". Such a pure representation of how everyone has forgotten him. I'll try not to spoil everything but it's about this girl that goes to a school and her class has to write letters to the astronauts in this video. Only the one girl chose to write about Michael Collins. As people make fun of her choice she ignores them and continues to write to Michel Collins every day, telling him about her life, hoping one day he'll respond.
As a kid growing up, reading about the apollo 11 mission I admired Michael Collins the most.
lol okay
Lots of Irish people know this because a famous person from our history is also called "Michael Collins"
I can tell you no one with any appreciation of space and science has forgotten Michael Collins
To quote a great man: "That bloke who was in the rocket, he was the loneliest man ever, in the world" (Karl Dilkington)
That man is incredible
He’s always been my favorite since I heard of him, just because he’s so chill about it and is super humble
Mr. Collins will never be forgotten in my eyes, he was offered the chance on A.17 to step foot on the moon but didn't because of his family, he is a great man and a true hero a very humble man and just a great guy
Mike Collins wrote the best Astronaut memoir I've ever read........ And I've read quite a few. It's called "Carrying the Fire", and if you have an interest in the early space program, get yourself a copy. You will not be disappointed.
Rest In Peace Michael Collins
This was an amazing video!
+James Clark Thanks!
No, it is a stupid video. None of it ever happened. It's all part of the 2nd giant lie of the 20th century. God says there is WATER beyond the Firmament. Therefore there is NO Space.... and no space = no one's ever been there.
Top Notch What the fuck?
Top Notch Do you have problem or anything? What kind of Religion theory is that? Thats fucked up..
Top Notch You can dismiss the moonlandings as much as you wish, they still remain a fact.
I've never heard of this man but when I saw that picture depicting every person alive except for this man... I don't know but it really makes you think and see a whole other way.
this was deep man
I will never forget you I still remember you you are so humble
Heartily recommend 'Carrying the Fire', his autobiography. It's so good I couldn't help feeling he wasted his life being an astronaut, he should have been a writer!
I love how he is so humble through his achievements.
Collins is not forgotten. He wrote the best book on the manned space program by a NASA astronaut. That assures that he will be remembered. “Carrying the Fire”
"The forgotten astronaut"
90% of NASA astronauts
WRONG
They forgot dark voyager from fortNUT
This man truly was were no man's gone before. He was out of earth's view with no communication with anyone. Just him alone flying his space craft on the other side of the moon.
He was the first man to orbit the moon alone, but the crew of Apollo 8, which included Apollo 13s Jim Lovell, had orbited the moon seven months earlier
He should at least get a movie starring Tom Hanks !
Wow this is amazing, please upload more this kinda videos!
Brig. General Michael Collins may not have set his foot on the moon, but his name and history will not be forgotten for sure. He also give a shit to be an celebrity... cool guy!
Collins is the part of humanity that is still well Human.
He is a humble and great man.
Wow. A man who doesn't seek, nor require any attention. Humble guy.
He was the reason why their mission was a success. He should be credited for his awesome work!
"The Loneliest Man In the Universe".
Sir people will remember you forever.
RIP 🌏
I FEEL SAD WHEN HE IS CALLED THE FORGOTTEN ASTRONAUT.HE IS THE MOST HUMBLE AND DOWN TO EARTH ASTRONAUT EVER.
I did a report on Michael Collins while everyone else did one on aldrin or Armstrong. It’s very interesting how the person who technically was one of the most important person on the mission wasn’t noticed as much as he should have
Well, how about Margaret Hamilton? She's the lead software engineer of the Apollo project.
In general people wotking behind of the project
MyLifeAsLouis she’s not an astronaut, so you can’t really call her a forgotten astronaut
MyLifeAsLouis - margaret hamilton,
my name is margaret hamilton,
there's a million things i haven't done,
just you wait
just you wait
izam-eme 維ンポ This is about space and astronauts..Not Hamilton.
Just saying.
lmao i was joking you idiots
Good job keep up the exploration. Thanks
Michael Collins passed away earlier this week. I remember after Neil Armstrong died, Collins wrote a great tribute to Armstrong in the Washington Post. But, while reading that tribute, it sounded like a hero-worshiper, not somebody who is Armstrong's colleague, until Collins wrote something like "Neil would make appearances for our professional society!" A humble hero! RIP Michael Collins!
the people who disliked this were jerks they do not deserve to live
that man was so lonliey
He wasn't lonely. Read his book.
i totally cried during the prepared nixon speech on the two not returning
You should be proud of yourself! Such
A kind persom
I love the famous last words “one step for man one big step for man kind”
"Forgotten" by who ?
How can u call them retarded for not knowing him when their from 2005? Ive gone to school now for 8 years and we haven’t talked about the moon landing
3zk1I_ you don't get the reference, do you?
Nope
You
D.A. Risse me
I read his book "Carrying The Fire." Very good.
Super cool, thank you for sharing! :)
+BasementMinions We're more than happy to. Keep watching, we have more coming up!
Great Video -- I had no idea. He deserves more. .
Thanks, this is what the information age is all about, sharing info.
Sounds like the Martian movie but happened on the moon.
I learned about that guy in elementary public school, I lived in Cupertino California the time.
Look. You are not forgotten! You might be the forgotten astronaut but not the forgotten humble man! Stay strong and never listen to anyone! Your heart is the only thing you could trust...
R.I.P. COLLINS sir😍😍🥰🥰
When he said “this photo has every human to ever live included in it, except for the one that took it” that shit was deeeeeeep af
I'm so sorry for him, I wish that it would of never happened to him, he is such a good astronaut and deserves respect!!! Its not fair!!!!😭😭😭
He wasn't forgotten by me he has a famous Irish name... ;-)
He deserves more credit. What a good man.
This is so sad.... He deserves the whole world. What's wrong with everyone? Imagine being him, its so sad...
Hes one of the support types truly great person
I like the voice doing the narration, reminds me of the narration done in the movie “Stand By Me”. Also, Huntsville, Alabama rememberers you, Collins!!
He is as beloved as the other two , in my oppinion
Marvelous video! Collins is a real legend!
i noticed he isn't smiling on the thumbnail
Did you also notice how many astronauts seem to be unhappy?
+Americansikkunt :(
+Americansikkunt That's because they are all guilty of covering up a HUGE pile of lies. Not saying we haven't been in space or on the moon. But we have yet to see undoctered photos and footage. There is a huge cover up going on of something. We are not given the whole truth. NASA is one of the most unreliable organisations out there. Look up Project Paperclip.
thecelticdancer1 I have heard certain rumors and seen certain evidence, of cover-up and deception. I just don't know how big the lies are. At this point, I think NASAs main goal, or one of its main goals, is/was to "legally"obtain tax money for phony space projects.
+Americansikkunt the moon landing is fake. Sadly these men had to endure the biggest lie they were not ready to handle. America wanted to beat Russia to the moon to have the credit
This is sad, Neil and buzz wouldn't have gotten back to earth, or even get to to moon without Micheal Collins. We love you Micheal!
Rest In Peace.
One of the best books on the Apollo Program is by Michael Collins, entitled "Carrying the Fire: An Astronaut's Journeys"
Soo sad such a humble man
Thanks for your love 💝 and support all through this times
His book, "Carrying the Fire" is excellent.
Respect for that man.
Forever you may stay in peace, space, and earth.
This video made me cry 😭
I knew about Neil Armstrong since year 2 in school
I still want me to cry
What a wonderful man!
I feel Soo bad for him 😭😭!!!! Now I'll remember him and like him
If i was like that i will just think of the wonderful memories on earth
this is so sad we love you collins!
How sad. He definitely deserves more.
We love you collins! U will forecer be with us!
Seems like a worth it episode in space
We love you, Michael!
RIP Collins!
Collins, your the man.
We would never forget Collins.
It was so sad. No one knows, no one remembers. It wasn't fair. He was so brave.
I wonder what he felt taking in the fact that he orbited next to the moon all alone all those years ago ( he's still alive up to this day, 87 years old ) like really the feeling must be unexplainable
Colin’s ur not forgotten we will not forget u
Neil Armstrong what a Legend.
Rest In Peace Michael... we will never forget u
I’m a bit late, but, Collins, you’re not lonely anymore!
Collins, you're not lonely
WE ARE YOUR #1 FAN
