- This is the new longer updated version as of 4/28/10. Enjoy the excitement as the train travels on a wonderful trip to the North Pole..... Best enjoyed by those who "truly believe".
The layout measures 4'x13' and is built in three sections to facilitate setting up at shows. Trailer wiring harnesses connect the sections. Two inch thick styrofoam was used as the structural surface material. Plastic downspouts serve well as removable legs
Note: Sincere apologies to "Scoot" for omitting his name in the credits as "The new low man on the totem pole". - Zábava
It goes to the mountain goes down in the table going downhill and then goes up to the other side
Simple and wonderful trick on your layout
I love that! It’s like magic!
This is a wonderful layout. I had Lionel trains as a child, and added to them with my son years later. The trains I have now are all but three of the Hallmark Lionel ornaments offered over the last 24 years. The miniatures include almost every piece of rolling stock on this layout.
You could enhance the disappearing act by putting a simple timer interrupt inside your tunnel "loop" - activate the timer with a magnetic sensor.. You have a good heart and that shines through ! God Bless, and all the best for the coming "Magical and Blessed" season! Thanks for sharing !
Beautiful layout! My two year old has discovered the Polar Express and we love watching your video. Thanks for sharing!
Hey your son may turn out like me! I always loved the polar express as a kid and to today I still do!
for a little child it is magic
I watch this video every year. It’s like a tradition
love the waterfall, nice touch!
this is simply amazing and brings to life the movie in your home.
this is the impressive layout I've ever seen. Thank for sharing :-)
5 months and 1 week ago I got the ho scale polar express and I have done nothing with it. My grandma had an ho scale christmas train layout. she died 2 or 3 days ago. she told my dad before she died to give the layout to me. now I have a layout for It! well now I need to make flat top and herplshiemers!! at least I have been into model railroading for a few years and I know how to make a mountain. I might make a mountain like your's!!! You are an inspiration. Please make more videos on this!!!!!
Cheers, Kyle
Absolutely brilliant love watching this each year thanks for sharing 👏👏👏👏👏👍🎄

Magnificently Done , Outstanding !!!!! Enjoyed This Very Much !
This is absolutely amazing!! I just bought my train last year for Christmas. I'd love to do a display like this at some point. I have no idea where to even begin.
Always so nice to hear your story in the words of the Polar Express. The train layout is beautiful sight too. "I BELIEVE". Thank you so much again! Happy New Year 2018
This is a beautiful layout
I just got the O gauge Polar for my son
3DJavi that’s the best model in my opinion

Fine layout Rob.
Real nice.
This was probably the first, or one of the first CZcams videos I ever watched
That is the BEST I've ever seen😃😎🌎I saw how the polar express fits into the mountain on the other video of this
This is a great video. I hope you are still enjoying this great layout.
@Ruvan100 The magic of Santa and Christmas knows no political or geographic boundaries. Glad you enjoyed the video.....BELIEVE!!!
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
That's what I was going to say.....a model railroader will figure it out in seconds....but a very nice setup!!!!!
Outstanding. Merry Christmas and keep building!
I have seen a similar display where the train changes to HO in background to give the illusion of distance
This is a really awesome layout!
Wow. So Many years later. The memories....
This is cool :)
Magical! Love it!
That is super amazing how the train disappears then reappears!
Awesome
Very COOL
Wow this looks good
Not gonna lie
We have a village house-nicely detailed plastic, that recites "The night before Christmas" amusingly for those old enough,it sounds exactly like it is being recited by Richard Nixon, the same voice, same speech pattern, where, and when we got it I do forget-long ago-. We used to do a layout yearly at a retirement home where the wife used to work, which measured about 6by25 feet ,and that was part of it.
Awesome layout I plan to build one one day
This is impressive
Looks like I've got my work cut out for me since I'm going to take that a step further and include a large train yard and 5 steam locomotives all ready to couple up to their trains to take off and help Santa with his annual deliveries. the sets I'm going to use are three sets from Bachmann, one from Piko, and one from New Bright . the Night Before Christmas Set, the White Christmas Express, The North Pole Express, the Bear Loggers Express, and the Holiday Express. As for the Polar Express, that will be an easy one. a Aristocraft 2-8-2 Mikado and some Polar Express Passenger cars in G scale.
They showed how this was done on a site for the 1940 Lionel disappearing train.
You are just having too much fun! Only Santa and the original designers of the Lionel store disappearing train layouts from the 50's know how the train disappears into the tunnel.
Chuck
Amazing..
Yes, I'm sure they sell for big bucks. It was a very challenging build and I can understand why they only built a few...
Wow amazing i want it for christmas
Awesome
Rob where did you find the flying Santa and sleigh
@moonvette i enjoyed it! :D but i wish i had the Polar Express lional train but i still BELIEVE!! :D i even have the movie i even have the train on MSTS (microsoft Train Simulator) and on Trainz 2012 :3
The tunnel is called Flat Top Tunnel.
I love it
i love it
@randazzojl I think the Santa is a Lemax but we had to extend the shaft to make it taller. The tree is hand built from garland wrapped around around a wire frame an then covered with three strings of 100 bulb Christmas tree lights to total 300 lights
I love the layout could you tell where you got the tree with santa flying around please
Where did you get the flying santa attached to the christmas tree?
@moonvette I agree, great job.
I love it, also the tank engine at the back of the polar express, I have names for the trains Michael the fright train, Otis the polar express, and Jim, the tank engine behind otis.
We have Dept. 56 Snow Village buildings. And there is an opening on the back or underneath the Christmas buildings to light the inside. The mains plug goes into the wall with a wired set of lights. Maybe the manufacturer of your collection sells this as an accessory, or perhaps a Dept. 56 accessories will accommodate your Christmas Village. I was seeing that your daughter is watching her brother operate the controller. Is she waiting for her turn? Merry Christmas to your family, and many happy and healthy years of enjoyment.
Greeeeeeeeeeeeeet layout!!! What type lights did you use on the great Xmas tree. Love the twinkling.
Must be extra track in the mountain to delay the train a little. The mountain looks big enough.
I love your imagination and creativity..awesomeness...beautiful layout 🤩
Engines are doubleheaded to help with the "disappearing act"... :-)
Wow your awesome I'm subscribing
Again I saw it, can I visit you one time so I can see it in action I saw how it fits in the mountain;:)😒😁
ha ha ha lol that looks so cool
nice
i believe
Incredible! Love it. Did you make all the parts to the layout?
How did you make the elves? putting my own polex display together would love to add elves.
How do you work that mountain train? Sooooooooo amazing
its a modification of a Lionel dealer layout form the 50's
Maybe it goes under the table on a track and back up an just to make it go straight through the mountain is switch track
How did you do the waterfall with the color lights? I love this!
Back again
It goes in the mountain then goes under the table and comes back out on the other in ..... Simple
you've murdered the magic
that's like telling how a magician's trick works mid show
Nitrous 4x4 Seems your statement is wrong, and fellow others,it's probably not magic. It's probably just a secure loop on that side to the mountain and loops back down
I hope you get the newest Lionel PE Berkshire.
coooooooooooooooool
What's making train stay in the mountain for a long time
@moonvette Thanks!
I Believe at 61
Where did you get the herpolsheimers building and Billy’s house?
How do you have all the houses that go to the polarexpress when I order train stuff I don't see it your layout almost blew me away and how did you do that northern lights light up good job on your layout
Is your layout online?
#
In the mountain there is and track that goes down and it comes back up
cute :)
what about the ice?
how did you make the train dissapear?
what is the switcher for
how did the train disappear
450th time watching this. LOL
Why are their 2 train pulling each other
How do they made this?
Used the Lionel Illusion idea.
@bowser5678
Flat top tunnel is on the agenda :-)
Email me telling how u did that
i believe it real magic mountain from real wizard
how does it do dat?
@MrTimb56
and quite a challenge to build and operate :-)
@Rob Mueller How Many Tracks And Switches And Curves Do You Need To Build This Layout?
