Basic Up is a reality series that follows young men and women as they join the Canadian Forces starting from the recruiting office through to the rigorous basic training.
There was one made in 2018 that has a French platoon. Look up "First Stripes" on Google and you should find it. Not gonna lie though, I finished BMQ earlier this year and it's pretty funny how alot of it hasn't changed at all!
I remember my first fitness evaluation.. I only had one speed and it annoyed the instructors that I was too fast. I was granted a fitness exemption, but insisted on staying with the Platoon to assist the staff with helping out.
Thank you for posting these CplHenderson. Any chance you have season 1 and 2 of the French ones? "La voie du succès" and "Forces du Future"? I worked at Army Public Affairs when these were made, I was an editor for season 1 and cameraman and editor for Season 2. I regret not grabbing copies when I left DND. Nice to relive these.
Unfortunately no, but I got these by filing an Access to Information (ATIP) request. $5 filing fee and they mailed over a stack of DVDs with no hassle. If you want to reminisce, I recommend giving that a try!
I wonder which " recruit " was the MP ? We had one that started with us and they were really hard on him ... felt bad for the guy . They introduced him as Cpl Carlie halfway through the course , then he was gone .
Man, 7 years of Sea Cadets and I still miss-identified Master Bombardiers & Petty Officers when I was there... It's next to impossible to get 100% of it right, the best thing to do is strap the fuck in for an ear beating and just take it lol. Best times of my life were always in training. OH and if you're lucky, you get chewed out by a legit combat veteran and have a cool story to tell your buddies during smoke break hahaha!
Theres a reason they're so hard on cadets, it's because the military isn't some place to fool around, it's not a playground, it's a place to protect your country inside and outside of it.
interesting when i was a bombardier in the British army I did the same job as a the master bombardier never heard of that rank till i seen this i wonder if it was something we used to use? I left as a sergeant
It was invented in Canada in the 1960s when we began to diverge from the traditional (British) system. A Master Bombardier (or more commonly a Master Corporal and a Master Seaman) fits in the structure between a corporal and a sergeant.
It's been long replaced. Did basic in 2019 and didn't do it. But if you're concern is completing a Beep test you might want to consider a different occupation.
Es't de tabernaque! Swearing in French cuz it's an English TV show. In the first series the instructors took care not to swear on camera and it looked so fake.
how stupid has the canadian forces gotten? making fun out of basic training? military training is serious business. you are training people to take over for others and they maybe called on to go over seas and do things you do not make fun of and use as entertainment on youtube
“Tabarnak”
Count me in!
I love this country
They really need to make an updated video documentary about BMQ, it is very difficult to find up to date videos that show a complete training process
they did one like 3 years ago in French that passed on tv , but they removed it from everywhere

@@strahm998 just watched it its pretty good! i thought i have seen them all but no. do you have more like this to suggest?
wonder how many of these guys are still in?
I can't believe i'm' watching my RCR brothers in basic! They never told me they were filmed! Barnes/Murphy! And others maybe?
Which bat?
Maybe they dindt wanted you to find this? LOL
I hope to have an instructor like Mbdr Enault. Intimidating, badass, and I can tell very strict.
He also genuinely gave a crap about recruits too.
Loved his "tabarnak" when that one recruit said MCpl instead of MBdr

The music choice is so odd
I hated the beep test, especially the voice of that machine. Reaching level 6 really sucked.
Then you don't want to see Level 9, which I reached a couple of times.

Aren't these troops provided with a kit list so they don't have to spend all their money at the Canex?
so old, wish they posted shit like this but in 2022
Old but still good. The new army has softened up thanks to the woke.

My platoon 2IC & one of our Sgts were both RCR combat vets. North doors were fun lol
Mcpl is everyone. MBdr is the same ss MCpl.
Why are they being punished for drill when you haven't even been taught yet.
Ever since i seen tanks, cut off...idk made me chuckel...I want to join for purpose, health , serve.
Always funny to see an air force instructor
You're just jealous we took more time choosing our careers than the toppings on our pizza.

A master bombardier is a master corporal the arty guys just want to be special. Its not a real rank

Do they still make you do beep test?
They did in 1996 when I did my basic.

Nothings being made fun of???
It irks me how foul the instructors language is; no need to swear so much. Lead by example
its the military, if you cant handle swearing then you are in the wrong place. also, guaranteed it was toned down for this video
They Grill you out and swear at you to make sure you don't break, If you can't handle it then you're not cut out for the military
What did you expect in basic training?
