Rata Blanca is known for the amazing guitar work. Their song “Mujer Amante” is a must. Interestingly Vin found them similar to Iron Maiden. I think they do sound in the Power Metal style… not necessarily that similar to Maiden. Also music by Ángeles del Infierno and Barón Rojo will showcase good Metal in Spanish

Hi Vin, about Rata Blanca, they formed the band in 1985, 10 years after Maiden, and yes the singer Adrain Barilari is heavily influence by Bruce, he dressed like Bruce also. But musically Rata is influence by Deep Purple and Rainbow. I'm happy that you are finally listening to latin and spanish metal, you'll find some incredible gems out there. Thanks for the review.
The major influence for this sound is Yngwie Malmsteen’s first albums and perhaps some early Michael Schenker Group. Still good skills and nice to hear it in Spanish. In Portugal, the heavy metal band Tarantula had similar influences from neo-romantic metal bands from the mid-80’s.

Hmm .. there's lots of songs out there that sort of loose their meaning a bit once u translate them. Great music is always run thru feelings,from the emotions that the music and the voice of the person singing gives u.. anyways what I'm saying is u shouldn't always translate music in a different language. I think this band had listened to all Helloween albums, especially Keeper of the seven keys part 1 & 2. This is a good professional record but in terms of creativity I am sure these guys are too much influenced tp have their own face. Sorry if my opinion sounds harsh but I really hear Helloween in almost every note they play and sing and the text they write.
Not sure. They're contemporary to Helloween. Album was released on 1990, but the song was older (1987, i think). And the text they write was clearly influenced by Ronnie James Dio's lyrics in Rainbow, Walter Giardino's (guitar player) biggest influence. And about their own face, Rata is one of the most influential (if not THE most influential) bands in latin american metal (or spanish-speaking metal), so I think they have their own merits.

In Russia one of the most influential ,etal bands is ARIA. And they were copycat of Iron Maiden straight from the start. Even the name (Iron Vs Aria). And the font of their logo... And the bass lines... And the texts... And melodies... And their own interviews where the agreed that they very much fond of Iron Maiden legacy... And RAia started playing metal in USSR in 1985. So they are the oldest metal band here.

@@MattSamma Tal cual, o cuando dicen que Giardino es una copia de malsmteen, primero que los géneros se basan en escalas particulares como las menores armónicas y para ser armónicas necesariamente pasas por una armonía particular y la 6ta para q sea armónica, apartir de ahí es un limitante, pero fuera de eso, y lo digo como un fan número uno tanto de Walter como de malsteem que Walter es muy superior a malsmteen pq Walter compone íntegramente la música y las letras, y no solo tocó metal neoclasicos, sino algo que el solo hizo que es metal Neo tango clásico en temple! Que a mí en lo particular me gusta incluso las que rata. Pero anda a explicarle a un europeo eso jajaja
