MOSFETs are often preferred over IGBTs in DC-DC converters because of their faster switching speeds, lower conduction losses, and simpler drive circuitry. MOSFETs are also better suited for low-power applications, while IGBTs can handle higher power ratings.
Here are some other differences between MOSFETs and IGBTs
Switching speed: MOSFETs are generally able to switch faster than IGBTs.
Current density: Low voltage MOSFETs have a much lower "ON" resistance than IGBTs.
Current density: IGBTs are superior solutions in AC drives that operate under 20 kHz with high current density.
Power loss: IGBTs are more reliable for high-power devices because the overall power loss given through IGBTs is much less.
Input impedance: MOSFETs have a high input impedance, making them easier to drive and control.
IGBT stands for “Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors”. These are high-speed switching devices used in all Weldclass Inverter welding machines which facilitate voltage regulation.
Why MOSFET is used instead of IGBT?
For what applications should MOSFETs and IGBTs be used
IGBTs and MOSFETs are used for different purposes for 400 to 1200V applications
    1. IGBTs are used for inverter applications with a switching frequency of less than 20 kHz requiring high overload endurance.
    2. MOSFETs are used for inverter applications with a switching frequency exceeding 20 kHz.
