SHATTERED - Neo & Trinity (The Matrix Resurrections)

When I was a kid, when I'd hold on to Neo and Trinity because my life sucked and they were my comfort in a world where I felt like I could never have a friend, I envisioned a version of the story where they met in the Matrix post-Revolutions, and found each other again. I tried to vid it in 2008, using this exact song and other movies with Keanu and Carrie-Anne... the awkward-and-BADLY-edited (with Windows Movie Maker) result is linked at the end of the video.
Today, that little kid's fantasy is an ACTUAL, tangible reality, and all I can do is cry and hope and pray for the day I meet either Lana, Lilly, Keanu or Carrie-Anne, and tell them how much they meant to me, how they basically saved my life, and how grateful I am to them.

By the time I watched The Matrix, all three movies had already come out and both Neo and Trinity had died at the end of Revolutions. The first time I saw Trinity die in Revolutions I cried. I remember watching Revolutions with family at least once on local television and having to walk away because I couldn't watch it without crying.
I consumed more than some amount of fanfiction, but ultimately it didn't change the reality that Neo and Trinity died at the end of Revolutions (and arguably even though they died, one interpretation is that not much had changed).
I didn't cry watching Resurrections (probably because there wasn't an overwhelming need to), but I cried watching this beautiful video of yours. So thank you. Thank you.
I can relate as I was much the same. I watched all three for the first time in 2020 and I was hooked. Since then I have watched them over and over again alongside reading endless Fanfiction and as a big fan of Neo and Trinity, I was just dying to see them have a happy ending.

Making Matrix Resurrections is one of the Best things that happened in 2021. Neo and Trinity have always deserved a Happy Ending to their Love Story. I am so satisfied they got IT in the fourth part.

There is no happy ending. Trinity chose a rich guy over Neo and now has 2 daughters and lives in Vilnius. And Neo is alcoholic

A true 💕 Love story i watched the movie yesterday Matrix 4 Resurrection and i literally cried when they both flew away from the skyscraper, thank you for this video So So So AMAZING! On all levels! I was a 10 years old girl dreaming of a thounsand possibilities of how Trinity and Neo could come back and have their happy ending, just because they were my confort back then...
This movie was the best gift life ever gave me and I can't say thank you enough to Lana for making this come true.
And thank you for this video, it means so much to me to see my parents again in such a beautiful art made by someone who knows what it is like to see a dream you couldn't actually think was possible to come true, just happening after all these years.

I know everyone has a different opinion about Resurrections, and it really comes down to expectations I guess. For me, it is refreshing to see a writer fight to tell a story, even if it's not the one some people expected.
Watching it as the love story the author wishes her main characters could have had had me invested. It could have just been that Neo and Trinity had to fight for it (and the author with them) through the plot of the action movie that the wb board execs and content charts said 'sells'..., but they're instead looking for peace, so the action movie IS the antagonist. And even then, if you compare the in-movie board room discussion with the finale, that action still adds plot value because it gets transformed into conflict with emotional weight at the end, instead of the expected hollow nostalgia bait the audience and the characters probably feared it would be.
It's not the story we expected, but I found that refreshing. Though on that thought, I wonder if people who didn't vibe with it are just at a point in life where they need a simple Hero's Journey. This is more a story for after the hero comes home and wonders if it mattered to anyone but them.
Tl;dr: In a reboot obsessed world, if as a writer you knew you had one chance to keep telling a story that you felt needed to get to a happy ending, wouldn't you take it? I totally get that it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. I just think that in this world of cut-and-paste reboots, choosing to put heart into something anyway is wonderful.
Also, the quote at the end always gets me in tears.
I waited till i watched matrix: resurrections before i watched your video so i could truly feel the effects of this wonderful tribute and it's just as perfect as the other one i could cry AGAIN. the editing is so beautiful and evocative
