And when I saw how Bob walked through airports, especially in Europe, he walked with complete confidence, like He came to conquer, and he did. Powerful testimony from the great living prophet Mutabaruka. True, the poor boy from Nine Miles came and in a very short lifespan achieved enough to make an obscure religion Rastafari, acceptable and respected internationally as well as make tiny Jamaica a world famous place and also revolutionized the whole world with his infectious rhythms and powerful lyrics. Long live too to the great Curtis Mayfield, a musican, whose music was so much loved and covered by the "who is who" of Jamaican singers.

XMuta, I am from Trench Town from back in the 50's. I played ping pong with Bob while I was a youth attending High School.
The term "One Love One Heart" is not a Bob Marley original Lyric. The term was used by the Rastaman dem as they greeted each other in the neighborhood. Yes, I know for a fact!. I lived next-door to Mortimo Planno at 16 Fifth St. He's the Elder that inspired Bob and every man in Trench Town to become a Rasta. He invited Selassie to Jamaica and he literally walked H.I.M down the plane steps when Selassie got apprehensive by seeing the unauthorized Rasta gathering on the tarmac beneath his plane. Planno even taught is the Amharic language after he came back from His visit with H.I.M. Selassie in Ethiopia.
I could go on and on. Bless

💯 real talk! I remember the things that happened in the 70’s about Rasta! I was teary eyed too when I let my memory flow to the earlier year. Rasta was frowned, look down up on. We were not allowed to even converse with them. I remember I loved the teachings of the 12 tribes of Israel as a teenager. I listen to a Rasta man talk about the Bible. He went deep into the Bible. My mother said any ideas to become a Rasta I would meet my grip outside the gate. That didn’t stop me from loving Dennis Brown, Bob, Gregory, John, and Peter. The message was in their music. Thank you for this post

Muta you made me cry bitterly. Give Jah the glory that Bob brought it to the world. I remember my brother who became a Rastafarian n my father was against it, we cried for our brother. Now to us he is a STAR especially with 'Black Star Liner'. My dad died RIP but he eventually recognized his Star Boy before. We are so elated of Bob .. words can not express how we feel n most of all our Jamaican Icon. Praise be to God. Hallelujah. Jah

I Man is also from Trench Town 7 Eleventh Street, and I attended the 7th Day Adventist church at 5th street and West Road. I also remembered Alton Ellis from 5th St. and Peter, Bunny & Bob from 2nd St. I remember a lot of singers and musicians from the Trench Town and Jones Town communities from the 60's and 70's.

the capitalization of our culture is unpleasant but the turning of tables for the fari from being persecuted to praised is a testament of faith within the rasta and our community
