It's pretty crazy how a bored 12 year old sitting in his boy room decided one evening to upload this masterpiece to CZcams just for fun.. And now 11 years later I have brought together 2.6 million people to my video. That's half the population of my home country! Although it's all thanks to Gary Moore but thank you for watching!

I'm very surprised how rockin the original is. Thanks for uploading this so long ago and I'm glad you've gotten so many views out of it.

Yep, that quick lick of palm-muted descending notes, and the perfectly-placed pinch harmonics. Wonderful dynamics tastefully packed in a 16 second solo.
This is one of the best guitar solos ever recorded. So many guitar heros overindulges themselves in their skills and produce these technical wonders running for dwo minutes, but so often they forget about melody, mood, brevity. DIO solos were often like this, Faith No More solos were often like this, even on the latest Anthrax record there's this song "For All Kings" that is a similar wonder. I love these.
Listened to Tarja Turunen singing this for over 10 years, without realizing that was a cover. ahahah This is even better. Love the raw emotion in his voice, it really adds to the story told in the song.
The prisoner is Mark Ryan, who was Nasir in the Showtime series Robin of Sherwood from the mid 80s, and was in the Transformers movies and video games as several voices, including Bumblebee.
It's very possible that it might not be the same Tim Burton. One of the sound engineers for TV gameshow Catchphrase was called Adrian Smith, who is also a guitarist for Iron Maiden. I'd like to think it was the same man, and maybe it was, but I won't kid myself at the same time.

From Gary Moore's "Wild Frontier" album from 1987, one of the most underrated masculine albums of all time. It described the complex political environment of Northern Ireland in a way that people can relate to (the album was dedicated to Philip Lynott, Gary being from Belfast, had a great synergy with the "darkest son of Ireland". songwriting and guitar playing is off the charts, this was Moore in his creative Apex as far as I'm concerned.
You should hear himself and Phil singing out in the fields fucking fantastic
This is not the same guitar solo (begins at 2:47 and ends at 3:17) as on the LP (begins at 2:28 and ends at 3:14 ), the original (the LP-version) is much better than this or the live versions.
What exactly is a masculine album? That's a weird way to describe it.
@@dieyng, I’ve actually thought about how Moore’s hit me and that’s the only word I could think of. It’s definitely got a masculine feel to it. Can’t really explain why, but I do agree with @CCoyle-f3sym.
Music will never ever again be as good as this.
This is the #1 song on my #1 C-cassette collection that I had back in 1989 when I was just 10 years old...There's just no force on earth that could make me abandon this, one of the most powerful classics of all time...

Just heard this on my spotify and I was floored. Nothing goes better with rock and metal than folk music. Thanks For Posting This Awesome Song!
it takes so long time to realize what a fucking good song mr moore written! today young people are overwhelmed with so many notes :-) david guetta needs only 3 :-) RIP Gary
I was addicted to Nightwish' version... But now that I found that, I reached the sky!
..That's correct!! It was top of the charts in Europe in 1987-1988 and your Nightwish were'nt even born yet and they are just copying and always listen original first... The best guitar-solo you'll ever heard and I was about 6-7 of age when my uncle played it from tape .. I will never forget it - the best solo.. 🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍

His version of Friday on my mind( live?)is absolutely outstanding ☮️😁🤠😍🎸🏴🏴🏴
Absolutely love this song. R. I. P GARY 😢
I freaking love the way he plays the guitar! The moves I love it
There are many covers but original sound quality is still the best, the instruments are unique here
Gary Moore era completo, excelente guitarrista e que voz!que talento! Que pena que se foi muito cedo. Músicas como essa nunca mais, pra mim melhor que anos 80 pra música não tem. Gary Moore lenda! Ele tem muitos fãs brasileiros 🇧🇷
it's amazing how perfect this song is to be played by bands of power metal and epic metal.

Bagpipes, violins and a strong and honest guitar, magnificent. I love the original version
