Wenger is a very intelligent man. However, he is a football purist and didn’t want to adapt with the times. For example he didn’t like dealing with “super” agents, who represent most top players these days. He was stubborn towards the end of his reign at Arsenal and didn’t always get the backing. Helped the club transition to a new stadium, had to sell a lot of good players and this unfortunately this impacted his team’s performance. Class man though and he deserves respect for keeping the club at a respectable level over the years.

Arsenal took loads amount of debt to build the emirates stadium and they had to repay it by selling their best players to their rivals for best price. How was it arsene’s mistake? And you guys were never gonna get kante anyway cause when Chelsea enters to buy a player they always make sure they get it. They are so strong financially that only clubs like psg and city can compete against them. He was forced to sell his best players to rivals cause of money. Had to settle for xhaka instead of kante. Why don’t player agents work like real estate agents ? There is a flat fee across the industry and agents fees are shared half and half by both player and agent . On the other hand if a club wants to approach the player directly without using an agent then they don’t pay the agent .... and if the player wants to use the agent for negotiation then he pays his share .

The real issue is to do with finance and investment. You can't get investors unless a return is guaranteed and you can't guarantee a return unless you can depend on an income, having a hierarchical league system with only 4 champions league spaces means clubs can't get the investment they need. Either you have a guaranteed super league with the enormous player prices and wages or lower wages and prices, personally I think this is a watershed moment and you will see a collapse of football finances in some of the major clubs and player wages and prices will plummet. Real Madrid is a billion Euro's in debt. There is no way a club can pay 200 million for one player if they only have access to income from football rights or stadium seating.
