- Vacheron Constantin's relaunch of the 222 at this year's Watches & Wonders wasn't exactly a surprise, but it was still an extremely welcome revival of a design which, after 45 years, was ready to come back with a bang.

Oh wow, Vash did an homage to the Tissot PRX
I thought that was a PRX too
Haha I loled.
I think Vash is a little late to the game. I would love to see this in steel tho.
That’s Gold
My first thought lol.
I really do like how my PRX wears and looks
@@billybenson3834 62k poorer though
I saw the editor's note on the written site, so just wanted to say thanks for all your work at the 'dink, Jack. I'll miss seeing you here and look forward to following what you do over at Watchbox
I actually like how these videos are tailored to the style of each editor as opposed to having the same format for each review.
Going to to miss Jack’s content on Hodinkee.
for sure. Jack was one of the treasures at Hodinkee. With Cara and Stephen gone a lot has changed. The younger team of Cole, James and Danny are still good to have though
@@domokun938 good to have but not good enough. Hodinkee is sinking.
Jack has found a better home. I’m sure his content at Watchbox will not disappoint.
Wait hold up.. jack is leaving HODINKEE?!
@@AHP32 he went to WatchBox
I was never a fan of gold watches but this VC really changed everything for me. Definitely one of their best looking watches IMHO. The bracelet as well is just absolutely stunning.
Couldn't agree more😊
Jack is now at Watchbox and that’s what matters! For years now, and mostly thanks to the incredible Tim Mosso, Watchbox has produced amazing content solely focused on watches, and nothing else. Now that Jack and Tim are joining forces, they’ll be an unstoppable (horological) machine.
Agreed.
For me jack is the watch voice and the only reason I watched hodinkee!! Best of luck in you're future endeavours jack
The most beautiful watch ever made
Thank you very much Jack, best of luck and be well!
Thank you for this video. What a great send-off for jack from Hodinkee. I also feel like Hodinkee should do a farewell to Jack as he moves on to Matchbox. What a great run it's been.
Best of luck in your new position, Jack. You will be missed at Hodinkee, but we look forward to seeing you at Watchbox. Cheers.
That is a good looking watch. Also, thank you for everything Jack, your work has been amazing. I will miss your work here, but I look forward to seeing your work for WatchBox.
Thanks for everything, Jack!
I own the gold tone Tissot prx and it really looks like this amazing watch
Jack we will miss you but I’m excited to see your takeover at Watchbox 👏
You are not the only one Jack, I consider it at least 10 times a week whenever I consider the coalescence of elements from stardust to form everything.
Great review. Lovely watch.
Love your Videos! Always great content to enjoy! Greetings from Germany/AW.
Mr. Foster,
Your editorials and videos are brilliant, quirky and precisely why I started to read Hodinkee. Best of luck in whatever your next challenge may be.
And, Mr. Forster, sorry about misspelling your name! Fat finger is my only excuse…
You've convinced me...this is now my new grail watch
"it waits to impress you until you notice it" what a great line
They are beautiful! Good luck.
Absolutely beauty of a watch
Nice prx
Stellar piece
Beautiful watch presented masterfully
This is such a grail watch. I hope I get to see it in the wild one day...that's about all my budget will stretch to.
It’s so good.. just perfect
Perfect watch.
It's so beautiful.
Great watchbox video!
The Laureato looks beautiful
such a sick watch
A beautiful watch
The integrated bracelet sports watch to rule them all imo. I think I like it even more than the Royal Oak.
the one in steel looks amazing.
My best watch right now is a PRX….. and I feel like I’m close 😂😂 this is a beautiful watch just elegance perfected for me
I do have a gold Rush , whenever I hold my 1952 omega constellation, I do think how gold is created , stellar bangs and how precious and beautiful it is !!!!
Gorgeous. I don’t like gold watches….but that is stunning. The only watch I’ve ever seen that looks BETTER in gold than silver. I’m excited for Vacheron and this home re-issue.
You’re unbelievably eloquent in your description of heavy metal watches :D
The first Vacheron 222 was launched 1977. The Tissot PRX came after that. Hence saying it’s copying the PRX is just silly.
Tissot seamaster ... 1960s..... Orignal inspiration for PRX
Phenomenal timepiece
The watch is a masterpiece.
To possess of the Overseas I can say that this 222 is a fantastic watch, the case vaguely resembles the Tissot PRX.
This will be my second Vacheron.
Such a beautiful piece! Hope VC issues a SS version soon.
Posthumous post for JF. Nice.
"Who will buy me one?" 🤣I got hands-on at W&W and left with exactly that feeling! I want to the 222.
Adrian, when do you think they’ll release a SS 222? For us mere mortals.
@@Superdada VC said they won't be doing any other 222, so other metals or complications. But that could just be marketing talk for "buy what we have now".
@@BarkandJack let’s hope they do! One of the best releases at W&W in my humble opinion.
I feel like it’d be a big missed opportunity if they didn’t.
Me wearing a 222 for a week: darting nervously from place to place with my sleeves rolled down, anxiety inducing nervosa, brought upon by subtle time checks, and covered glances at my watch after eyeing my surroundings like a lost deer, followed by lost sleep and meticulous infantilizing of my watch.
my fav watch. hope to receive the call from the boutique before 2024 🤣
Gorgeous
This is the ultimate mob boss watch. I love it.
A watch for the Don !
Love Jack. Have him do more weeks on the wrist!!
You seemed somehow to be the conscience of Hodinkee. Possibly Watchbox needs one too. Or maybe another one. Good luck.
decent homage to the original PRX…except for the Maltese cross, 18K yellow gold, not quartz and being one year earlier to the party!
Great review. Hodinkee has been killing it lately.
That's because they are sensitive to Jack's departure and want to show that they aren't going to lose out to Watchbox..
Same for the IWC Ingénieur 1832
Was very surprised they didn’t use the JLC movement, they were almost identical to the original otherwise
The way he said "gold", perfectly describes that dirty feeling you get with that metal. That watch is beautiful, elegant and utterly filthy
weird I've never felt that.
If anyone needed any further proof that Tissot have done a near perfect job with the PRX (esp the 35mm) here it is - albeit there’s no comparison with the materials used / movement - nonetheless considering you can have a beautifully executed design like this that’s well finished on your wrist for a few hundred dollars is remarkable
I love my 40mm quartz version, although I also heave a VC overseas 2nd gen. The materials and finishing of the PRX is remarkable for a $300 watch.
Glad to see some Jack Forster content even after his departure! Hope we can get him on the next podcast too. When is that coming out by the way?
Was there a Hodinkee article about Jack leaving?? If so i didnt catch it.
X1.11= perfection
I’m very glad to see this watch as likely Jack’s last work for Hodinkee.
With that said: Hodinkee is worse with Jack gone. I hope it was 100% his decision and not that of Hodinkee.
Brilliant delivery as always.....however on this occasion the muted colour grading does a luxury watch of this calibre no favours. The rich, lustre, glister and yellow warmth of well being are missing. I hope for 60K you can extend the bracelet a couple of 8ths when flying to your tropical Island.
It's already scratched! 😮
Damn, Vacheron really copied the PRX… 😂
You beat me to it
@@theclipazinecowboy8124 Haha! Let's just say I'm going to be wearing my PRX with pride today.
Pretty cool of VC to have copied a watch that didn't exist, and came out after the 222 ! Impressive trick.
@@derosa1989 over your head
Not my thing but impressive work.
We'll miss you Jack
I love this watch, and I'm looking to pick up my second VC this spring (blue Overseas). Thinking of the third but man it's tough to justify $74k for a time/date gold watch. Basically double a day-date and $10k over an AP RO full gold.
The ultra thin Royal Oak in Yellow gold retails for $71k but you’ll never get it at retail (it’s $140k grey) think of this as (basically) the same watch without the hype of the royal oak. Day-date is no comparison, as its thickness, lack of refinement, and gaudiness make it a completely different proposition.
That watch looks just like the 36 mm gold Rolex quartz president
Goodbye jack 😭😭😭 see u on watchbox
the answer to 'who will buy me one?' is watchbox will!!
Looks just like my Patek 7118 1r tbh
❤️
It makes me have more confidence to tell my boss that he can swap his vash with my prx :))))
When they released this watch in the summer, I couldn’t believe how well they did the homage. It’s too bad it’ll never be obtainable
If you have the right tax bracket, you can have it.
The Best Watch Release in 2 22.
lad looks like a Italian mob boss with that watch on in gold
I want a 42mm version in tantalum
How about placing that delicate watch made of soft metal on a cloth instead of directly on a rough wooden tabletop?
nice PRX! oh hey wait a minute..
Jacks last video with Hodinkee it seems
Can you please turn the music louder next time? I can still hear the guy.
Why would some mainstream watch site feature an unobtainium watch on 'a week on wrist' - let me cut the story short: it feels awesome to even be in the presence of such a piece and yes it's perfect in every aspect.
Please continue with hamiltons, seikos, citizens, tissots, oris's, timex's etc... This is not what I want to see: experience of John with a watch that cant be bought in a lifetime. OR provide a link that sells the watch for MSRP.
Back in 2017 the avarage Hodinkee reader made 300k USD a year according to a Gary Shteyngart's New Yorker article. It's a watch magazine, a lot of them are gonna be expensive. Like a car magazine, sometimes is the new Corolla sometimes is the new Countach.
@@Enrico- this was my opinion and I just wanted to express my expectations from the ‘week on wrist’ pieces. I don’t recall I started a debate on whether Hodinkee should cover ultra rare pieces or not…
The technical sheet was missing at the end of the video
I too think of kilonovas when I hold any gold jewellery That it is forged in the heart of a dying star.
Glad Jack is with WatchBox now! A huge loss for Hodinkee though
My grail watch
If you like this watch but can not get it because of the price like 99,8% of the viewers probably, don‘t sleep on the Seiko 5 „Globe“ SNK665! :) even cheaper than PRX but hard to find like the VC222
beautiful gold watch with a lime/lemon/green dial? 😬
This seems more like a basic review of the watch and an explanation of it's history and specs, which is fine. Just not sure how this is "a week on the wrist." Where did you go with it? How did it wear as you went about your daily routines? What sort of outfits did you feel inclined to wear / not wear because you had this watch as an accessory? You know...what was it like to wear it?....for a week....on your wrist?
Does anyone have the chops to take over “hey, hodinkee”?
The bird will host now.
Guys, I don’t need a week to know the history and specs of this watch.
A week on the wrist is: take it outside, to the office, to the pub, spend the time with your friends and family. Let us know what do you think about the watch in your day to day life activities. How does a watch cost this much affects you in your daily life, will the gold Color matches your outfit? Do you wear it casually or with formal attire ?
Let us know how do you feel about it while wearing at home or in the toilet.
Jack, please. This is not a week on the wrist.
This is all assuming people enjoy going outside.
Agree, it's more like 7mins with the watch.
I want it😅
needs to have a larger version.....40-42mm
Are you not working with watchbox now?
Probably filmed before he left.
He’s working for your mom as her personal masseuse
@@Futurama10000 stupid reply
Filming and editing takes time..
@@raymondli1716 filmed after. he felt sorry for the remaining trainwreck that is hodinkee
If I could only own one watch….this would be it….if I could afford it
Can we please nickname this watch the Benaud?
Is is Jack’s swan song?
How is the ROak, nautilus and 222 a sports watch and the datejust isn’t ?
I hate the double standards in the industry. This watch is almost an 1:1 with the tissot prx, still almost no one says a thing bcause VC is such an iconic brand. If Hublot came with this design, everyone was going crazy about how unoriginal they are with their idea
Assuming you're not trolling. It's an almost 1:1 *Vacheron Costantin 'Jumbo' 222* which came out 45 years ago. The PRX it's inspired by some vintage Tissot Seastars made in the late '70's. All the models from the Vacheron Historiques Collection are "contemporary reinterpretations of iconic models from the prestigious heritage of the Maison." As the company is the _de facto_ oldest Swiss watchmaker.
@@Enrico-jumbo 222 and the classic seastar came around the same time, and I am not saying by any meaning that VC is copying tissot or else, I m just trying to say that all the watches companies take little inspiration from one another and that s completely fine, I just don t understand all this hate towards Hublot for doing the same as everyone else. Yes their prices are really high but after all if they keep them this way it means people buy them
