  • The first thing most people do when they get a new motorcycle is upgrade the exhaust. But, a lot of times, only doing the exhaust upgrade makes the bike act a little...funky. To correct these issues, most people choose to do a full stage 1 upgrade and replace the air filter and tune for air fuel delivery.
This video shows changing the stock air filter on a Milwaukee 8 107 CI to a K&N High Flow air filter. This is a budget friendly upgrade as most air filters can cost upwards of $300-$400. Join me as I demonstrate how easy it is to change the air filter to this K&N...enjoy!

Looks good. To lessen the oil blow by, run your oil at the halfway marks when hot. These M8s don’t like to be run at the full line.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I was kind of freaking out with how much there was but didn’t want to say anything 😅

Need an external breather so that oil doesn’t go back in the throttle body and drip and cake up your filter.

      What kind of external breather?

I mounted the 1717 filter also. But removed the front part with the grid in it. If the hole in the frontpart stays so tiny, the filter will do nothing, was my thought!

I have a question for you, I have a M8 2017 and they run not as lean as a twin cam. There is about a 10% leeway on the M8. My question is if I put slip-ons with a high flow Air filter do I really need a tune? Remember I'm still using my M8 cover so the air flow would be a little less then say an full open Air filter. Thank you and nice videos

You mentioned that this is a budget Stage 1; do you have buy and install the SE tuner? Can the ECM handle slip ons and the high po/free flow air cleaner without any problems? Will this void your warranty?

Great question, I will try to answer to the best of my abilities. From what I have been told, the filter alone will not void your warranty. Slip-ons shouldn't either but depends on your dealership. Running this setup without a tuner is not recommended because it will run lean. I used the Vance and Hines Fuel Pak 3 to tune it.

I did this to my 21 Softail Standard and now the engine light stays on and shows a p1510 EFI Limited Performance Mode, but it seems to be running fine so I don't know what's going on

Did you get the light and error code resolved?

Did your K&N filter get that weird athersclerosis looking buildup looking shit that your old filter had? Or was that glue that looked poorly applied?
