His advice of having a growth mindset is absolutely great! Before I started my journey to learning advanced math, I researched a growth mindset, read Carol Dweck’s book on growth mindset, and found quotes to help me out when I get stuck. I also identified helpful math resources to help explain mathematical concepts when I don’t understand something. There are so many resources available for various math topics.
For those struggling in math, don’t give up!

Simlified Calculus is a perfect introduction to calculus. I think it would be great even for 6th-8th grades at school. Short and clear, only 160 pages, another hundred pages are appendices. Even exercises are here. Thanks for posting it. Special thanks for interview, it was very interesting!

Let's go for it ! ✌ Thank you, Math Sorcerer !

Hey math sorcerer this interview is great! You should totally keep doing stuff like this! Have you ever considered a podcast? Maybe similar to these interviews but with your additional comments as well. I’d love to hear your input on the guests remarks. I know you have to consider video length though.
Thanks for the high quality, well thought out content.

This video is about 40 years too late for me, but still motivational. Also a bit late for a younger generation that for some reason never engages with Maths, which is frustrating, and robs young people of many opportunities. Why do some kids never open up to the subject and give up too easily?

Yes, I had difficulty with that too. There is something deeply flawed in the premises and presupposions that surround that.
And I’m curious what he had to do to make it more “inclusive.”

Oscar appears to be a superb, inspiring teacher based on my impression of how he presented himself in this video. That said, however, the books discussed in this video are, in my opinion, written purely for recreational reading perhaps with an eye toward sparking an interest in mathematics in children, or for adults with a latent curiosity about the subject, and is a respectable enterprise unto itself.
However, you will NOT learn any mathematics from these books nor any book like it. These are solely written as popular account of the subject and, despite best intentions of the author, these types of books do not teach.
If you want to learn mathematics, find a good mathematics textbook.
In addition to actually TEACHING you the mathematics, most good textbooks provide excellent, and sufficient, motivation for the use of mathematics in the introduction and applications of concepts are generally found in abundance throughout the chapter exercises.

Not even 5 minutes into this video and Prof. Social Justice has given me a run down of why he's a superior human being for pandering to the feelings of overgrown children AS IF IT'S ACTUALLY THE TOPIC AT HAND. WOW. Tell me how you work at Wellesley without saying it lol. Only academics can be this naive and immature to have such viewpoints - viewpoints that are so worn-out and cliche at this point that it's cringy at best. It's as if he sat down for this interview with the intent to let everyone know that he'll follow any mass psychosis and never have an original thought.
AND ALL OF THAT IN A MATH VIDEO. WHHHHYYYYYYYY
