Mikey… I checked it out when I was there… it was Sturdy, Level, Plumb & Square. Other than that it was Perfect!!!!!
A good crew makes pole barn building look simple. That went no thing at all like the first one I helped my buddy build.
We started it in the spring with the four corner posts… every time he got a paycheck he bought a few more materials to add to it…. By the end of the summer we were ready to nail up rafters…
By fall, we were ready to put all the roof stringers in place. Well sir, all of the poles had decided to warp, twist and bow. An assortment of ratchet straps, come alongs and braces got us what we thought was a reasonably square roof.
Fortunately, he had ordered the tin long enough for a 6” overhang! We cut every roof sheet to match the roof line… edge trim barely covered the error along the rakes.
To a blind man 90 miles away going 90 miles an hour it was a thing of beauty! And I still marvel at it when I drive by…. Not because of its beauty but… because it increased the slope on my learning curve so much I almost got whiplash. And my neck hurts every time I look at it!

To keep birds from nesting in the trusses you might want to staple some 1/2 screen fabric to the bottom of the trusses. I did that in an indoor riding arena about 4 times the size of your building about 35 years ago. We fabricated a rig to unroll the screen that was attached to the safety rails of a scissor lift and drove it from on end of the building other as we stapled it to the bottom of the trusses.

    • @fhuber7507
      @fhuber7507 Před 2 lety +1

Sky blue paint the inside of the roof and birds think there's no shelter. This greatly reduced nesting of birds.
      It also deters paper wasps.

It is a great day for Dirt Perfect.
    I am happy for you.
As a maintenance manager for over 30 years, I have always said protected equipment is happy equipment. There is less rust, electrical components and wire deterioration is less.
Electrifying the building I hope is in the near future (before snow)
You are the king of makeshift equipment and modifications. You complete the job with this makeshift equipment maybe not as fast as you would with expensive equipment but still a quality job.
I pray for you continued success with work and family.
Be good be happy be safe looking forward to the next one.

Post and beam construction goes so fast!! We had some hay sheds built and they were 4 days ahead of the original contract by the time they were completed. They were 200 ft long mind you. I think they were 60 ft deep, but I can’t remember.

I've been wanting to know about that property. I've seen it in several of your videos and didn't know how it fit in with your business (renting / borrowing, etc.). We don't have to worry about snow where I'm at, but I hate leaving equipment in the rain. Congrats on getting the new building. Mini-storage units bring in lots of money, but it would be better if it was within its own fenced in secure area. I'd hate for people to use the excuse of the mini-storage area to snoop around my equipment and tools. I enjoy your videos.

I was wondering when that was going to happen. I did see the sneak previews on the Captain's channel...lol. Personally I would've never stopped at 40x60. I had a 40x80 for a tri-axle log truck, an F350 dump, a Takeuchi 260 mini, and a Takeuchi 250 loader, plus all of their attachments, and I NEVER had enough extra space! But mine was a workshop, equipment shop, heated cement floor, crane in the over head, place to drink beer! hahaha

I like the technique with the auger, letting the auger do the work bringing dirt to the top.
Then the crew can just push it to the side while the auger is still in the hole.
Too many people get this wrong and end up dumping dirt back in the hole.

Bet you already wish you'd built a bigger building. I don't know of anyone who builds a shed for equipment storage, that doesn't wish they'd built bigger, myself included. If I'd built my shed 16' longer, it'd specifically facilitate getting the planter put away easier. Oh well, hind sight is 20/20, and you can only build to the size you have money for. Looks good, and hope it gives you good service for many years to come.

With the price of shipping containers, buy as many 20 footers to use as rentals. You could even stack them 20’ on top of 40’. Build a deck with handrails and stairs for the top deck.
