  • I've had this done for a while, and was wondering if any of you wanted to see a NG+ with master difficulty and then moving on to apprentice with stats carried over.
Some mistakes are still there, but you'd have to hunt for them. Not many.

for a GBA game, the first thing i noticed was how the animation is so insanely detailed and fluid. they truly spared no expense making this licensed tie in.

It's actually a very interesting game for a few other reasons too, first of all, I think almost all of the dialogue in this game comes from the novel, so you get golden lines at times, in response to Grievous saying "I was trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku" Obi Wan responds with "That's good because I trained the Jedi who killed Count Dooku!"
Second, this game takes a lot from the microseries, although there are almost no videos of it online the co-op makes it extremely clear that this was meant to bridge the microseries and the movie, because there are not only a handful of levels based on locations from the microseries but you also get a lot of music from that series as well, also co-op is actually the only time in the game in which you can see a little bit of a title crawl with the classic Star Wars music, there's also a unique piece of artwork for finishing co-op.
So there's a lot to love about this game, especially the GBA version, since it has its own versions of the music, the closest thing we'll ever get to clean rips from the show.

(This is an in-depth fighting game analysis of the two playable characters in this game, so it's a lot of reading, skip if you don't care)
Outside of his stats Anakin gets it so bad in this game, he wishes he could be as good as Obi-Wan, I'll just see if I can quickly explain what makes Anakin's story mode so difficult, Anakin has a block that comes out pretty much instantly, it seems good at first until you realise it has almost zero active frames, it makes deflecting extremely difficult with him, Anakin's abilities are also straight up worse than Obi Wan's, he has two force chokes, one does damage and the other fills his fury gauge, unfortunately neither does enough to be very useful, and Anakin's not force centric anyway, his only good ability is rage because it turns him into a damage God, it doesn't take much to kill someone with Anakin so rage is pretty nice.
Unfortunately his rage has no invincibility frames, not even super armour, the animation for it is long so it is easily interrupted, so you'll never be using it outside of boss fights, he has a saber throw too but it's trash so who cares? So all you've got with Anakin is some crowd control with the force chokes, which Obi Wan has better alternatives to, a situational rage ability, and that's it, you've also got force push and force pull which are both way more useful than any of his other moves.
All of Anakin's attacks are extremely slow so you have to be on the ball all the time with him, instead of doing his running kick move it's better to just stop running once you're close and then use whatever attack you want, that kick leaves you extremely vulnerable and it's got terrible frames, so you've got that to think about, Anakin is interesting in the sense that he's got some instant cancels into other attacks that Obi Wan doesn't have, this can lead to some moves hitting when it seems like they shouldn't, let's say an enemy gets knocked to the ground, Obi-Wan can't do much while they're already falling, but Anakin can hit them before they hit the ground sometimes, and it does a LOT of damage.
The attack cancel in question is just down, b, also the up, b attacks are jacked up in this game, both Anakin and Obi Wan can pretty much just kill enemies in one combo if you use that in the middle of a combo or at the start, Anakin's second hit on the down, b however is extremely slow and dangerous to use, try to stop pressing the button after the first one, it's harder than you think but it's better than dealing with that slow attack.
And I don't use the special moves much in this game but Anakin's are all okay, Obi Wan's spin move pretty much makes all of Anakin's specials pale in comparison though, Anakin does have a really nice special that hits on both sides of him that only takes 25% fury which is really nice, Obi-Wan's equivalent costs 50% of his...Calm gauge? I don't know what it's called for him, but Obi-Wan also gets to move during his spin, and it can straight up kill the enemies that he hits with it, so 50% for practically an instant kill move that hits all around him and he can move during it, Anakin wishes he could have a move like that.
So Obi-Wan's extremely over dimensioned in this game I'll talk about his abilities first, Obi-Wan has a heal, that heals extremely fast for a generous cost everything considered, and in co-op this is a group heal, so if you and your friend are really good at this game you might never lose a life in co-op, having a heal in a beat 'em up game is OP enough so I won't say anything more about it, Obi-Wan's mind trick in this game is a full screen, invincible stun move that leaves all enemies stunned for a good five seconds, so you're basically getting free kills with that move uninterrupted.
Obi-Wan's got a force shield move that defends him from all blasts for a decent amount of time, it doesn't work against physical hits but most of the time the enemies will be shooting you in this game rather than punting you, so that's a pretty good move, invincible to all blasts for as long as the shield is active, Obi-Wan's worst ability is his force speed, and even then it's way better than most of Anakin's abilities, first of all it's completely invincible so you can't be interrupted, it's pretty fast in comparison to Anakin's rage ability too, and it basically slows down time giving you more time to react and free hits, so it's basically a nerfed version of his mind trick.
Now onto Obi-Wan's block, it's active for a decade long, and has a massive deflect window, which means if you press the button, even if it's not timed well it's possible that Obi-Wan will still deflect the shots, there's not much to say about his basic combo abilities, his basic running attack leads into free combos, all of Obi-Wan's moves come out faster than light so you're never vulnerable against anything really, he doesn't have any combo cancels that have weird properties like Anakin but it doesn't matter, keep in mind that I'm also judging all basic force abilities based on how they are at their best, at lower levels they aren't quite as busted but that goes for both characters so nobody cares.
Obi-Wan is just obscene in this game, really an unstoppable force of nature, his special moves aren't as good as Anakin's in terms of variety, you might actually see most of Anakin's special moves if you use them because they all have a good use, Obi-Wan only really has two usable special moves, his spin move and his full screen kill move, if you're really bothered by it, his full screen kill move is slightly worse than Anakin's because it doesn't kill all enemies at once, but it kills quick enough that you almost don't notice.
That's about it, why did I say so much? Why did I bother? I just like this game, and I always enjoy full-on analysis of games like this, so I thought I'd do it myself, I enjoyed writing it even if nobody else cares.

It would have been cool if Anakin's choke gave him fury and if his absorb gave him healing, like a life-stealing kind of thing.
Also, btw, pretty sure Obi-Wan's special meter is called focus.

You have to beat the game on Jedi. I didnt have masters from the beginning. And I don't have the movie file anymore for you to play back to "beat the game for you".
