The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11/10c on Comedy Central. - Komedie
It's excellent advice. Jon's subsequent career is proof of it.
You just wanted to use "subsequent" today, didn't you?
For David letterman the advice would be: just because you're a late night talk show host doesn't mean you are funny or talented or insightful, because you ain't. Jon Stewart actually is all three
What'd he do after the talk show ended?
@@donaldjdz Did another talk show. Which he's still doing now once a week 20 years later
@@CalvinJary
For not being e funny or talented or insightful he has done OK since he has been the longest-serving late-night talk show host in American television history.
That’s one of the most David Letterman stories I’ve heard in a while 😂
I seem to recall Jon giving this same advice to Larry Wilmore when The Nightly Show ended.
I really liked the Nightly Show. Definitely not a failure!
@@mori1bund Sadly, The Nightly Show was well ahead of the public consciousness, He and his panelists were having the uncomfortable conversations we had in 2020 back in 2015 and 2016.
Thankfully, just because the show didn't go 1000 episodes doesn't mean the show didn't help open eyes and help more Americans be ready to have those uncomfortable conservations while Wilmore's contributions on Black-ish gave people another avenue to awareness.
We know that the first step admitting you have a problem. The Nightly Show was a step toward admitting we, as a country, have a problem. Not everyone does but many more admit it now than did pre-2015.
@@bobinchampions6411 This! 👍
I think one of the reasons we were able to have those conversations in 2020 are trailblazers like The Nightly Show.
It's not recycling, it's a "callback." Sadly, nothing has replaced the The Nightly Show. The only honest source of news and civic discussion in the United States seems to be comedy news shows and late night talk show opening monologues. Cancelling the The Nightly Show was a civic loss for America.
I loved that show! Larry was an eloquent speaker and he always had an amazing group of people working with him!
Y'all are right. He deff helped move the needle. Thanks Larry Wilmore!
You may have gotten onto a rocky start, John, but for many years now, you’ve been rocking it.
Letternan's daytime talk show was canned, yet he ended up becoming an ion of late night television. Sometimes it's not you, it's the format
The morning show and late night show were basically the same show. Just different times and the addition of a house band.
He certainly got charged up and made things electric
@@TheGreatAtario I'm glad someone else caught that 😆
And definitely one of the most positive ions ever.
Of course it would be from Dave Letterman. Don’t confuse cancellation with Failure.
I love both Jon Stewart and David Letterman ❤️
Great ideal for a t-shirt. I WAS RAISED FERAL.
...you'd sell a billion of them
Raised by Wolves
I’d buy that. There’s probably one on Etsy.
Not that anyone here watches basketball but Timberwolves in the playoffs this would sell like hotcakes 🥞
Quote by Gillian Flynn "I was raised feral, and I mostly stayed that way"
The time before mentors… that is so true.
I was watching back then and still am. Thanks for making me laugh at the absurdity of it all.
The best advice I got was when I was a teen; spend extra time with the oldest and youngest people in your life.
i still have that final episode on VHS - man i loved that show
Jon this will show my age 😂 I remember watching your earliest shows! No stage been watching you since ❤ Both you and Letterman are my favorites ❤
"Including Jimmy Kimmel."
Do you genuinely expect 'Jon' to read your comment, Annie?

That's the most Letterman thing I've ever heard
Jon is the best, I hope that even after he's done doing TDS he pulls a Letterman and does a full hour interview show on HBO or something, I could listen to him talk like this for hours.
Why can't we have Jon Stewart 2028.
We would all vote for him.
No more "celebrity" presidents! He's an activist and an entertainer, not a politician.
@@karenshaw7807an activist would care more about politics than 99% of actual politicians
@@karenshaw7807I wouldn't vote for him because he's popular, I'd vote for him be cause he actually helped push through bills that benefitted the American people.
It's just a different job... Though leaders SHOULD listen to him
@@karenshaw7807 What do you think politicians are if not political activists?
Two legends.
Also, come to think of it, I think, you came back with a Rocky start. That said, I’m holding out and very happy so far.
Reminds me of..
Do not attribute to mailce what can be easily attributed to incompetence.
And then in the commercial break, he said "Although this was also malice."
My best advice is: "Don't fear failure, be terrified of regret."
I live by this mantra
That old Jon Stewart show had some great bands on it back in the day
My best advice, don’t worry about size!
I agree with you, but I also think too much pollution has a negative impact on genetics over long periods of time.
I used to love Jon's talk show. Though the only bit I really remember was the sketch "Talk Show Jon" with action figures.
As s young man jon was not ready to be president but he is now.
No man! His potential is in making fun of the leader. We need him to fill his spot. This is how we ended up with something like Trump. We need politicians to be politicians.
When he gets fired up, I see it. I fear he will always be too soft.
For David letterman the advice would be: just because you're a late night talk show host doesn't mean you are funny or talented or insightful, because you ain't. Jon Stewart actually is all three
"everyone lies" -house
Wow ♥️ 👌🏻
I loved the Jon Stewart Show, even as a 10 year old I loved this man.
Hilarious 😅
I completely understand his "end of life question" reaction. I was asked to give a lecture at the following year's conference, which wouldn't have been unusual in itself, but this was the equivalent of a "Last Lecture" series, and, in my early 40s, I didn't think I was quite there yet!
❤❤❤❤❤
❤ Jon Stewart you're the Best ❤❤❤❤
Two GIANTS! Jon and Dave. What else to say?
"You are not the failure, Jon. The show was."
- Host of a morning talk show in 1980
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was raised feral😂😂😂so true
I remember Letterman back in the day... he rocks
"I'm in on the joke, the audience is in on the joke, the people watching at home are in on the joke; and you're the joke!" - David Letterman
Wasn't that a Norm quote

When people show you who they are, believe them.
Those were great shows. Both the Mtv one and the channel 9 one. Whatever happened to Howard the announcer?
❤
"Don't get caught paying for it"
RIP Jerry Springer
@SayAhh ahh I forgot he died 🙏🏽
My best advice is not to take advice, especially quippy quick one size fits all advice
I'm taking your advice to not take your advice.
Boom
honestly, its a solid piece of advice
the first victims of generalizations, are the exceptions and nuances
so when you distill all of life's "advice" to a single sentence or quip, there's a high risk of losing a lot of nuance involved
…no? Or yes?
"Seize the day", in the wrong mindset could mean, seize Poland and France...or many other horrible outcomes.
let's see what adventure awaits today
Ouch 😀

The Jon Stewart Show - 1995 final episode with guest David Letterman --- u welcome
0:13 I still remember the Jon Stewart Show, and the last episode, wherein Letterman was the guest. I cried, I really did.✨✨✨✨✨💫🌟⭐️
Excellent advice. My size is not small. It is just smaller than 99.99% of the male population.
I'm a 57 year old "Brit" as you Colonials would call it, and I feel totally at ease with the idea that Mr Jon Stewart should be your President (or whatever you call it now.).
well you old brit, as you don't vote in the US your opinion doesn't matter. But.... you are right! too bad he won't do it!
He wouldn't be bad as PM either. A vacancy needs to be filled by the end of January 2025, and Jon Stewart is far more inspiring than what's on the menu we've been given. It's like being offered Grosvenor Pie and Brown Windsor Soup during World War II. You ate them because you were hungry, but dreamed of Steak Pie and a Sunday Dinner Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding with Onion Gravy as you ate... Sad.
@@CuriousCrow-mp4cxHe will be captured by the "deep state." Comedians are only allowed to practice their trade as subverts reality for society to accept their hardships.
If the powers that be decide you become anti-establishment, then it's final curtains. There is a tightrope to walk. I am a big fan of his for his honesty & humility on camera obviously.
The moon ❤ show your children look outside
Best advice: Learn how facts become proven.
i was raised feral, too
Best advice: "The House ALWAYS wins in the long-term, so quit while you're ahead"
The house also usually wins in the short term, so just don't play.
😂🤣 That's brutal but honest, best advice 😁
Are u getting along better with MK??
_& JON SAID THAT TO LARRY WILMORE_
So very Letterman.
German has a word which means yes and no. CZcams said. Life is like that.
lol "I was raised feral" Um YUP!!!!
lol, arsenio hall ??? What that?
"Raised feral" was the most poignant aspect of his monologue.
get yourself a copy of Marcus Aurelius "Meditations" and read a little every day - Jerry Seinfeld.
It could change how you think...
Why would anyone take advice from a comedian who's not even funny?
Ha! I had forgotten that they tapped Stewart to replace Arsenio. To be fair, the Arsenio Hall show had tanked so badly by then, there was no way a new host was gonna save it. It had become so unwatchable people had moved on to other viewing habits by then.
JUST SAW J. D. VANCE.... HE'S THE SAME COLOR AS djt. HILARIOUS. THEY DON'T ONLY DRESS LIKE HIM NOW THEY'RE USING THE SAME MAKEUP AND THE SAME COLOR IT'S ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂ALL 🍊😂😂😂😂
John Stewart ? Who is he ?
DON'T BE A SORE GOLIATH DOOZER 😅🎉💙
That's the thing, lots of comedians and especially if they are lesser known. Become known, because they got cancelled and thus began their successful career 🤪🤪
It's ironic I got an Apple phone add on a Jon Stewart video
Dave!
AD vice -->> unscrupulous commercials!
oh Jon, should we be worried about you? eat something ! have some chicken soup and we made Latkes to go with, sit down ! have some Cinnamon Babka you look thin.
I'm Gen-X, so I was also "raised feral". No life coaches, no mentors. Just life. New gens confuse GEN-X with Boomers. However, gen-X was the last generation to be "raised feral". The product of the baby boomers before us, also raised feral.
"Who's Arsenio" - 85% of crowd
From the mouths of Daves...
Yup. Jon bombed so hard he became a farmer with a few odd jobs on the side.
Never give someone energy they won't give back to you.
Thief believes everyone is a thief
I love both shows... Megyn Kelly America's Insider and there will always be one Daily Show... authentic talent.. f*cking funny... and serious about both the political climate and the election landscape
Thought it said Fetterman and did a double take 😳
I thought he was gonna say, "Never eat before a show."
A la Frank Sinatra
Via Trump
Circa 2007???
🥴😔
maybe none..
Best advice:
Never trust anything you read in the CZcams comment section.
hehehe--shows what Dave knows-may be he should stick to Burgers... ;p
Sorry to every Jon and Jordan are the only ones who need to be in that desk. Mostly because of their more balanced sense of humor. Everyone else feels like your watching the I Carly kids do the news.
I thought advice would be not to have a mistress. Lol.

Trump's motivation in life: "Don't confuse cancellation with failure"
It's the other way round for DJT - he never confuses failure with cancellation. His ego won't let him, even after going bankrupt 5 times. You would have thought he would take the hint, but nope. That's what got him booked into so many courtroom.
Also Letterman: Don't confuse a different woman for your wife. 😉
He can’t talk w o saying
Like
Who does this guy thinks he is anymore
Jon Stewart.
Why won’t the daily show talk about the Palestinian massacre?
The best advice would be for men to stop monopolizing the late night tv shows. I have no admiration for this male buddy system and the men blocking women from opportunities
WHAT IS TRUMP, PUTIN, RISSIA, REPUBLICAN PARTY DOING RIGHT NOW TO FIX THE 2024 ELECTION???????
Say something about the NIH, Eco alliance - Mr Fauci etal
After Jon's first night attack on Biden, I honestly cant watch him anymore.
Both side'zing issues is why hes back on, delivering gaslighting in spades.
How do you know that if you only watched his first show?
That is what you think gaslighting is?
That's nonsense.
How is comment relevant to the video?
