"You like it darker? Fine. So do I," says Stephen King, and in this extraordinary new collection of stories, the master storyteller delivers.
“Absolutely spellbinding stories about love, loss, tragedy, resilience, and-this is Stephen King, after all-unearthly creatures and the strange, unpredictable overlap between this world and another...A triumph.” -Booklist, STARRED review

This coming December I shall attain the ancient age of 90, and I have read almost every word Stephen King has ever written, beginning with Carrie. My library overflowed with hard covers of his words; I moved to a much smaller home three years ago and had to pass along most of my treasures I still have my favorites. King is the only author for whom I shall always pay full price for a hard copy , as he has afforded me more pleasure than any other author on the planet As long as I keep going, I hope he will keep writing! Nannette Smyre
Hey Nannette. Fellow constant reader here. I’ll be 29 this year. I started collecting King’s books from thrift stores years ago. Every now and then you’ll see a cluster that you know belonged to someone who loved them. Know that some other person is gonna come along and find your collection you parted with, and thus theirs will begin, making them a constant reader too. 🫶 Happy early birthday by the way.
Which of his books are your favorites that you'd recommend??
I’m 40 and have loved following his career since I started reading at aged around 14. What a thrill it must have been following his work from day dot.
He is my favorite author. His books are just phenomenal. There's nothing like a good King story. Wether it's a short story or a longer one they're all just as fascinating and just as satisfying when they end. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by the ending of a King story. He's one of a kind. That's for sure!
Years back, my hubby and I went to see the Irish movie - The Butcher Boy. I saw someone walk in, did a double take, and it was Stephen King. I was a couple of rows behind him and watched him more than the movie, lol. After the show was, we were riding the escalater down. Hubby went up and put his arm around Stephen's shoulder and began talking about the movie. Then I went up to SK and said I read some of his books, like ALL of them. He was a super nice guy and my absolute favorite since Carrie.
Gunslinger series - beyond brilliant.
Stephen is a treasure to mankind
Stephen King is at his best when writing short stories, I look forward to reading this !
❤my mother started buying me Stephen King books since 1979 I’m now 59 yrs old and I have over 68 hardcover in excellent condition books. Will follow the King forever❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎
Same here. My mom took me to Waldenbooks and told me to get what I wanted. I started with The Shining. It's been a lifetime with King. Thanks, Mom!
You are one of the greatest king fans of all time
You go girl! I'm jelly!
I am addicted, ADDICTED to his words, his imagination, his books. I plowed through "Holly" and I am slow reader. My name is Sharon and I addicted to all things Stephen King.
I've been reading Stephen king books since I was a young teen ... I fell in love with his writing.... I'm 36 now and I still can't put down every book of his I read... What an Amazing writer Mr King is... Can't wait to read "you like it darker"
Since The Shining for me
The same for me, only I am a year older. Love your comment
Too bad he is pushing his own WOKE agenda in Holly.
His characters seem like they are real people. The depth of character is on point. Dean Koontz writes his protagonists as ALL GOOD and his villains are ALL EVIL. Also, I'm convinced that he believes that addicts are automatically awful humans. In reality, there are shades of many different colors in us all.
I’m 58. Joined his weaveworld when he was only 5 books in. It’s been a hell of a journey to date. Truly brought enjoyment to the life.
I love his ability to put us, the readers into the actual world he’s created for us to be a part of.
King is still the King. The best author in the world.
How many others have you actually read, though, honestly? ;-)
@@user-tf4yy7qx4f John Grisham, Dean Koontz, Ruth Ware, Alex Michaeldes, Lisa Jewel, Linwood Barclay, Shari Lapena, Karen Slaughter, Freida Mcfadden. etc. This is just a few. If you go to Goodreads you can find out more about me.
Best of all time
@@user-tf4yy7qx4f Honestly I read a lot. these are just a few authors. Lisa Jewell, Dean Koontz, John Grisham, Linwood Barclay, Joe Hill, Freida Mcfadden, Karen slaughter. If you go to good reads book club you can find more about me.
@@PreludeFear2112 Yes, I agree with you. Read his son, Joe Hill's books. Also good.
I picked up a book to take into the hospital with me when I was going in to have my daughter. That was 1978. I was 18. The book was The Shining. I'm 64 now and I own every book by SK in one form or another and have read many multiple times. I love Stephen King . Can't wait for this new book but my favorite will always be The Shining.
I've been reading Mr. King's books since the paperback edition of Carrie with a blood-soaked Sissy Spaceck on the cover. My mom inexplicably allowed me to put it into the grocery cart when I was a kid, and it was the beginning of a one-sided lifelong
relationship. Over the years, his books have been interwoven into my life the way that good songs are. A reference to one of his books, or re-reading one, can take you back to another time. I'm so grateful to him for all the hours and joy-and terror-his work has given me. Thanks, Mr. King.
Damn, he can set a scene! Just listening to the first few seconds and I am instantly there.
Hi, Love Stephen King !!! You rule !!!! I only read your Novels n everything you wrote n have been since the late 70's. Yep, I'm 62 now still love you !! You are the MASTER OF HORROR and will always be forever !!!! 💕💕❤️💖
mr King has such a great reading voice, always a pleasure to listen to him
He really does! His audiobook, read by him, of his memoir ‘On Writing’ is so good and highly recommend it. I listen to it on long walks sometimes!
Check out "Needful Things" and "Desperation" -- I believe both audiobooks were completed by him.
I decided I had a new favorite author halfway through ‘Salem’s Lot’ years ago. I have never been disappointed in his works, and I own every book he’s written.
After listening to him reading and building it all in my mind, I can’t wait for this newest book to arrive in my mailbox!
Stephen King has been my favorite author since I was 20. I'm 67 now. We were an Army family and moved many times and lived in many places. SK was always there for me, familiar, entertaining and he always made me think of the possibility of things beyond what we know. Thank you!
I cannot wait....I have been reading his books since I first discovered Cujo as an early teenager, so 40+ years one...the works of the master storyteller are as compulsive as ever.....I cannot wait for this one!
That "So do I" coming from The King gives me chills. My favorite books are collections of his short stories. I can hardly wait!
The nobel prize would've not even explain anything else about the human condition or in the [perfect vernacular
I want him to receive it only for the weight of our [pissy way hilarious and shitty way we act towards one another
That he doesn't expose so much as repeat it in our own voices he understands how to write what people really say in both our conversations and in our own heads
And he has informed.educsted scared thrilled bored but the story kept me engaged in the world and yet acce[y ; and laugh at it
Thank u so much for the reading. You are and always will be my #1 writer of all time. 😊
I've always enjoyed listening to Stephen reading his own material. Those chances are somewhat rare. Thank you for a chance to enjoy it once again.
He's looking good for his age! Danny Coughlin's Bad Dream sounds so good!!!! Can't wait! I like how his style of writing, his prose never seems to change!
I am dying for this collection. Thank you so much, Mr. King!
Been reading your books since the 80s when I was introduced to Pet Sematary. You are truly the King.
The same. My first King book was Pet Sematary in the 80's
A master in the game. I can't wait to pick up my copy.
I absolutely love his novels, ben reading them for years. King spins a story like no other writer I know. ❤📚
Any new Stephen King writing is a red letter day! ❤📖📚😊
Can't wait for this new short story collection.
What a pleasure...he is alone as a story teller...KUDOS!
SK has not lost a step over how many years!
He is a MASTER in the real sense of the word!!👏🏽
My Hero, My King...this man knows how to tell a story. !!!!!
Nice fart at 2:15 right when he’s talking about a gas station. Best part of the whole video.😂
bloody hell I missed that on the first viewing lol
maybe when he said he likes it dark he was talking about his underwear.
i'm dying
My favorite author, sitting in front of a painting by my favorite artist. King and Edward Hopper... what a pair.
Hi! I agree!
I've only admired the frame on the painting (Lol). Do you know which Hopper Painting it is, I could not identify it.
Take care
@@unclefredster5636 It's "Room In New York", painted in 1932, currently hanging in Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln Nebraska. (Not King's living room lol).
Cool! Thank you. not familiar with that particular one. I remember noticing it in some of his previous readings. You got a very good eye to have identified it by only glimpsing a small part of it.
Stephen being who he is might actually be able to afford it if he so wished but being a practical self proclaimed yankee would probably pass on it 🤔
Thanks again!
Nothing beats the excitement of a new SK release! My favorite since I was 9.
I got Cujo from a used bookstore when I was 8 years old (41). It has been a journey that now comes full circle with its upcoming sequel.
That is a giant print of Edward Hopper's 'Room in New York', the inspiration for his short story Music Room.
Wouldn't be shocked if that was the original...
@@cactusjackstevie57 I wondered that too. Wiki says it's held in the collection of the Sheldon Museum of Art, in Lincoln Nebraska.
I love this story! Wish it were a whole book.
I LOVE Mr. King and his writing. I've read every book he's written, most twice, except for "The Stand", which I've read three times. I would love to listen to him read this, but it just hit my Audible library so I'll listen there.
He is, without doubt, the greatest writer of our times. Perhaps ever!
I'm so looking forward to this book!
I absolutely love this guy. I'll definitely pre-order The Audiobook.
Thankful to find this treasure with my fav writer reading. 💓
We know that the King is not getting any younger, so I hope he has about 50 more books ready to be published when he's gone. But for now, PLEASE KEEP RELEASING NEW MATERIALS!!! We love it and we love youuuu! ❤🥰😍
Pre-ordered. Now, just waiting for the dark.
I've already pre ordered this new book from Audible I can't wait to listen to it. You rock Stephen King
His words are like poetry.
I cut my baby King teeth on his short stories in the 80’s. I’ll be checking this one out!
Preordered this back in January and have been waiting (impatiently) for it ever since. Love you SK!! 🫡
So pumped for this and the release next month, thank you. Long live the King!
I'm so looking forward to this book. I love Mr. Kings short story collections! ❤
The King of all Kings! Can't for this book to be available in the Philippines! ❤🎉
Thank you for sharing this reading! Looking forward to reading the rest of the stories -- as I do with every book that Stephen writes, but I especially enjoy the short stories -- so satisfying in a short period of (reading) time. His books of short stories make me smile a lot!
Wow. I want more Mr King 😮😮😮😮😮!!!!!!!!
Thank you Stephen King for once again bringing us another bone chilling book’ you’re truly the Best at bringing us and showing us the things nightmares are truly made of🙏💯❤️❤️❤️❤️
I started reading Stephen's books in 1977ish. Love them all (even Danse Macabre). I have as many movie adaptations as I can find. I'm 65 YY now.
My dude, my god and my bro. Thank you sir. I hope he reads his comments. I really enjoyed hearing it from the man himself
The Master. Nowt else needed😎👍🏻
Hooray! Love you, Steve, keep them coming… 🎉❤😊
i frikking love this man
I'm just starting to read "YOU LIKE IT DARKER"! I just love your books, and at times I have seen my own nightmares within your books. I like the sound of your reading.....
I’m actually reading Danny Coughlins bad dream right now. Haven’t finished it. It’s really upsetting in a realistic way. It’s so frustrating and heartbreaking what Danny goes through. Very realistic kind of story and it’s no wonder people wish to remain anonymous when reporting a crime.
You're looking good. I always love when you publish another, thanks.
Well, I can say I'm all in. I can't wait to purchase my copy.
Appreciate the teaser for what sounds like a great collection. My English Dept. has used Skeleton Crew for years, and I personally have used Everything's Eventual. Thank you.
Cannot wait!! ❤
Thankee sai.
❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍 I love Stephen king stuff currently reading lisey s story but I will read his latest book
While Mr. King has some excellent novels (my personal favorites, Duma Key, The Dark Tower opus, the Mr. Mercedes-esque books and 11/22/63) some, IMHO, don't float my boat quite that way, his short stories are brilliant. Though short, they really pack a punch. Rita Hayworth, The Body, The Boogey Man, The Monkey and others I can't bring to the fore - run the gamut from touching, heartfelt to outright horror is when he really shines. I, as do others, have all of his books and so am waiting - almost like Christmas - for this next batch to give me goosebumps.
Just delivered to my Kindle/Audible. Looking forward to enjoying this.
Thank you! Can't wait until I receive my copy.
I've been waiting for this since I pre-ordered! It will be amazing to hear how he interprets it. I can't wait!!!!
I AM LOVING THIS BOOK!!!
Dude is a legend and a treasure. My life has corresponded precisely to his professional career. I was born the week carrie came out so i have to assume I'll die when he finishes his last novel. I don't think short stories count. So as he types THE END on his final long form fiction i will suffer a massive coronary. I have a reverse Scheherazade situation.
I have every one of his short story books and can’t wait to add this one to my collection ♡
I found a rattlesnake at my work site, I named it Mc.Shakey and found out their official name is "Danger noodle"
Thank you for doing this! Perfect early Birthday present. 😊❤
Can't wait :)
So wonderful! Thanks so much for this! I always enjoy listening so much and can't wait for the book! 🥰
I’ve got every single book he’s written! This is a true to hear him read part of 1 of His story. ❤❤
Liar
just got this today! can’t wait to crack it open
i... fell in love with your writing, Mr. King! im so excited. 💗
Thank you so much
Reality: a nightmare turned inside out. That's what I wake up to every morning.
Oh god this book is amazing. I’m most excited for Rattlesnakes the sequel to Cujo. Speaking of Cujo that started it off for me. I watched that movie when I was like 6/7 yrs old and I feel in love with his work. Been a fan ever since & I love my massive Stephen King book collection.
it's close to Duma Key as well, my fave King book :)
This sounds so good!!!!!
The King has spoken. Thank you, Mr. King!
Yes please, and thank you.
So good
Still have my paperback Carrie from 1975, can’t wait for my Stephen fix ❤
Thank you, Mr King
I just purchased this book!
Wow!
Hi from Italy❤️ I can’t wait to read this new masterpiece🙏🫶
I grew up with Cujo being one of my favorite stories/movies I can't wait for rattlesnakes ! 🐍Animals can be so terrifying an nature itself
Been on board with you since I was 12 years-old and read "Carrie". ❤
Brilliant!! Can’t wait to see how dark he goes with these stories :)
Hi I love Steven He's a calm a norm in the storm a friend so far as a friend should be. I spent time in the 70's the 80's the 90's so far from day's of memories long ago.
Even Stephen King reads eBooks.
