I agree. I do armed security and I would have done the same if I saw an officer struggling with a suspect like that on the side of the road because I’d beat myself up if I got home and found out a violent suspect killed an officer moments after I drove by them struggling on the side of the road. There was a situation here in Arizona not too far from me less than a decade ago where a armed good samaritan saw an officer in a really bad struggle with an armed suspect so the armed civilian asked the officer if he needed him to shoot the suspect the officer said yes, the armed civilian told the suspect to drop his gun the bad guy said no so the hood guy smoked him, I believe the suspect had just killed his gf or something but it’s been a while so the details are fuzzy. The armed civilian did a little interview for the news saying he’s had his issues with officers in the past but he felt God put him in the position to help save that officer that night and he was thankful that he was able to help. He was obviously labeled a hero by the police department and the news for saving the officers life.
@danejurus69, yea I saw the truck zoom by then saw it backing up on the grass.... I figured he was going to offer assistance glad he stopped just in case! The stories of "Good Samaritans" exist for a reason, just like that in the Bible.

I hear you bro. But spending time in prison for something he didn't do is gonna have this reaction - that he doesn't trust cops whatsoever. There's no way the police officer could've known that. The cop had to shoot to save himself and the perpetrator had no reason to trust the police. Its a hard one.

That officer was (rightfully) totally gassed out from trying to make sure he didn't die on the roadside. I'd leave nothing in the tank too if my life was on the line. That Brinks guy gave him the desperately needed moment of rest and cover for restraining the suspect so everyone can at least relax down past a lethal scenario. Good guys with guns and all that.
Not just that, this dude forced him to put a bullet in him… he’s clearly distraught over having shot a man.. starts breaking down when he probably realised he ain’t gonna survive.
It seems this guy after being wrongfully convicted, had no respect for authority. Kudos to this sheriff! He tried everything and had no choice. It was either him or the criminal.
As an active Leo that officer handled the situation extremely well. He went for using his non lethal tools first before being FORCED to use his firearm. This is why you comply with officers and do not fight them. Praying that he’s still recovering well from this terrible situation. And God Bless the brinks security guard for stepping in and backing the officer!
This officer used his taser and when that failed he went to the baton even as the suspect was actively trying to strangle him. Only after all his non-lethal options failed did he draw his service weapon. That is an excellent example of level-headedness and restraint in an incredibly chaotic situation.

Man's only mistake was he didn't obey the cop's command the same way cop ordered and cop tased him only to enrased the situation. Most precincts used to have multiple officers, especially in high crime areas, but then some really strange movement hit the United States where people started voting to defund the police-because it’s obvious we need less protection, not more. Anyways, that cause seems to be losing steam, especially when the videos like this make its way onto the Internet.
Once the altercation started, I agree he had every right to defend his life. However, he shouldn’t have been wearing a badge to begin with as he had already been disciplined and fired from other Police Departments for excessive force. You can tell he’s mentally unstable from the moment he gets out of his police car. With great power comes great responsibility, and those who hold supreme authority MUST be the best at their best. This officer was neither. And Mr. Cure had enough of being knocked around by the law as he was recently exonerated from prison for a crime he did not commit. The officer didn’t take a single second to find out who this man was, he just jumped out ready to choose violence, and that’s not what holding supreme power entails.
I think a lot of people who give cops an attitude don’t realize that THIS is what that attitude is a red flag for. They say “But I wasn’t gonna do anything!”. It’s no wonder cops get pissy when people mouth off at them and don’t comply.

S/O to the guy in the Brinks truck who had enough sense to say "I have a gun, I should go help that officer". Kudos to you.

That cop was terrified to protect his own life for obvious reasons.
He, like the rest of us, watched as man went to prison because some criminal died of a fentanyl overdose.
Shoulda said, “yea, b*tch” after he shot him. Know would’ve been unprofessional, but would be heartwarming knowing that’s what he heard in his last seconds.
Exactly@@cyclone8974
How come I could hear no shots fired? Am I going deaf?
I’m amazed the cop lasted as long as he did when the man first did his “wax on, wax off” before grabbing the cop because the man is a lot better built than the cop.
@GardenGuy1943 you couldn't be more wrong. Cop could've got thrown into traffic, dude could've ended up going for the cops gun, cop could've got choked out.
Even at the end you can tell how much this traumatized him and how he really did not want to shot him. Awful how they vilified him in the press.
Офицер был не прав! Он убил ни в чем не виноватого человека
If the driver would've been white, the press would've ignored it.
When someone calls themselves a prophet or calls themself God, Yahweh, Allah etc. you can immediately tell that person is *insane*
Hat's off to the BRINK"S driver ,passing by in left lane made great time pulling over and backing up to assist a fellow officer..
Fellow officer?! Brinks are private security larper.
I agree that the Brinks driver is awesome for doing that. But from a technical standpoint a critique I have to give was his trigger discipline. Finger was on the trigger the whole time. There could've been a negligent discharge especially when the cop was in front of him trying to get handcuffs on the suspect. Having his finger off and above the trigger at the ready would've been the safer choice.
@@supraaznpridemaybe the safety was still on? So tired of the trigger discipline comments, is that all you know? When I'm at the range, I leave finger on the trigger a lot just to make Gomers sound off.
@@Marin3r101 Realistically some Armed Security license holders have higher standards & training then some police departments...
@@hunterws Even if that gun had a safety, a lot of striker pistol don't have active safety only passive that would've been worse because if he did end up having to fire the gun, having to disengage the safety first would have taken too much time, hence why you just have your finger above the trigger ready to go. And I wasn't even sure I wanted to even reply to your comment because what you said you do at the gun range speaks mountains about what kind of person you are and not someone I would even want to be around. Troll or a complete moron.
Why do people think it’s okay to be so defiant and unruly towards police officers?
Drugs, PTSD, or just plain old crazy. Whenever I interact with police I am fully aware my life could end if I mess around or act stupid.
That’s the hood
The guy introduced himself as “John Wayne” so clearly not of a sound mind…
@shogunatepena5302 and you think that's OK? People shouldn't live in that kind of fear.
@@LuckyLass Fear? I call it respect. The police have a dangerous job. I wouldn’t do it for what they get paid, no sir.

This is scary God bless this officer😢
RIP this poor man who was innocently choking a police officer and innocently driving 100mph on the free way before being discriminated against by the evil cops
That dang profiling….

There's definitely a background to this outcome unfolding.
This cop deserves a medal! He kept his cool and neutralized the threat. It breaks my heart to see him having to come to grips with what he had to do
All because of the perp speeding, this cop will go through:
- Personal attacks from the people
- Labeled as a bad guy from the media
- Possible court case (probably no charges because the shooting was justified)
- Trauma from shooting someone he didn’t want to
- And much more…
Deserves a metal for starting a fight he couldn’t finish so he killed the man? This officer is b**ch made
He didn't really keep his cool. He was extremely shook up, and he was barely able to hold the guy back. If the other individual had just gone for the gun, he likely could have killed the officer.
Try and kill me I'm not gonna be nearly as calm
This stop was a mess from the get-go. They both escalated with the officer initially yelling for the dude to get out and the dude from resisting and fighting back.
Had the department had enough money to properly train these officers hand to hand combat skills, we wouldn't be writing about it.
The police officer was only defending himself, it's upsetting that when a police officer defends themselves they get accused of all sorts of things, the world we live in now
As a guy with glasses I can only imagine how horror it must be fighting for your life and dont see sh1t 😢 best recovery!
Ditto
That is absolutely my worst nightmare. If I take my contacts out and then misplace my glasses, I am fumbling around like a blind person. I have even kept my contacts in overnight if I am travelling on my own to somewhere that I am not familiar with.
This is a good point. And that would be a huge boost to why the officer felt lethal self defense was required. He was just attacked, strangled by a stronger man who was high as sh**, and had 1 option left to stop the assault.
Shame contact lenses don't exist.
Always good to have your glasses well secured on your head so they don't fall off only way they fall off is if they break
And now the family is suing for $16 million. Ridiculous.
You kiddin. The cop was flying off the handle from the start. He was begging for a fight acting like that.
@@michaelcaplinger5115 First it was the flashlight, the driver escalated the situation saying he’s not about to do shit, then it was taser, then baton, and the firearm was the last resort.
@@michaelcaplinger5115The deceased thug shouldn’t have been speeding and driving recklessly. He could’ve taken his 800.000$ settlement and lived a good life while obeying the law. He could’ve chosen to not physically assault the officer.
He chose… poorly.
These men and women deal with some of the most insane and careless people that some of us may never see and that because of them! They run towards danger and we run away from it! Prayers for everyone involved!
Suspect was absolutely going to choke the life out of the officer. He only had those few seconds to react before losing consciousness. Major respect for the Brinks driver that made the decision to stop and cover the officer.
For the Brinks Armored Security Guard .. talk about being at the right place at the right time! A massive thanks to him for doubling-back and assisting a fellow Officer in need of desperate help. I'm not sure if he realized what an enormous help he was just having his presence there, standing by the Officers side and giving him the support he so needed at that very moment. He is owed tremendous gratitude. As for the responding Officer who did the only thing he could do while being attacked and strangled by that monster, I hope in time he realizes there was no other option at that moment; and I hope he takes all the time he needs to heal. His emotions were all over the spectrum, but he did the right thing and the only thing he could do to survive. You can tell he was so upset that he was forced to just make that call; he had no other choice but to save his own life, but it tore him up inside. My heart truly goes out to him.
That brinks truck came outta nowhere! I tried to go back and see when it went by but couldn't find it

He’s not a fellow officer. He’s a wanna-be cop who saw his moment to try and gain some glory. He most absolutely violated armor car policy by leaving his vehicle and in case you missed it he had his finger on the trigger from the moment he appeared. I was terrified for the real officer when he went to cuff up the suspect. Thought he might get shot in the back by the guard who flagged the cop with that finger still on the trigger.
Yeah I applaud the sentiment of seeing the officer in need and going back but his conduct afterwords shows why he’s a guard and not a law enforcement officer.
All my applause goes to the officer for surviving a life and death struggle against a clearly psychotic individual who was trying to kill him.
?? the guy was already shot and not a threat..wtf u talking about
It's dangerous to put such cops full of adrenaline onto the streets
officer was first to aid him as soon as backup arrived, he tried everything to prevent this, poor guy

The cop was being aggressive from the beginning what are you on 😂😅
800k for 16 years of your life locked up by being wrongfully convicted? That’s actually nothing, try buying a house, going to college, and then buy a car. The average 53 year old should have more than 800k net worth if we account for their property and their savings.
As for the interaction, 100 is dangerous and cop had the right to arrest him but he came off very aggressive, raising the emotions. If the dude was going to run he wouldn’t have stopped. It’s sad, but I think it could have been avoided to an extent had the officer not been as aggressive from the get go

Add that to not following simple commands.
Sprinkle a little fighting physically with and officer and quite literally trying to choke him to death, and you have yourself a justifiable officer shooting.
Not murder, not a bad shoot. None of that. Your opinions are your right, but everyone here looking at your comments knows you are wrong.

Him saying repeatedly "too late" is disturbing AF when one has seen hundreds of hell testimonies.
Indeed. Dude was scary.
Dare I say you’re right; Officer was well within his right to defend himself, there.
This is gut-wrenching. This man was put in jail for 16 years after being falsely accused of armed robbery. He had just gotten out trying to integrate back into society. Honestly trying to cuff the man for speeding, his reaction was totally justified. Until of course laying hands on the officer. But when the officer mentioned jailed he changed. He says under his breath during the scuffle “I’m not going back” 23:07. When he had the officer bent offer you could feel all that pain from what the law had put him through. Then cuffing him while he’s bleeding out. I don’t know man, this whole thing made me sick. This officer was a little much. The world was hard on Leanord Cure. R.I.P.
Lesson of the day don't break the law, and never put your hands on a police officer.
I can't believe family hired Ben Crump in an attempt to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the Camden County Sheriff's office here when the video clearly shows that the man was speeding and went on to resist arrest then try to choke the officer to death.

They been waiting to see the video. They will say he had ptsd from the wrongful conviction. But DANG did the officer do everything before before before lethal force. I would have started blasting way before it got to that point. Insane how controlled that officer is.

Many many many stops have happened with very similar circumstances except no death or injuries occur. Why? because the officers are civil and not over the top emotional time bombs.
