- This video leaves a bittersweet taste. The takeoff and low pass was awesome to see, and a great ending to a wonderful day at Zemunik airbase of the Croatian Air Force commemorating the Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day. But later, one of these Mig-21's (121) crashed as a result of the landing gear catching fire. The only good news is that the pilot ejected safely and was taken to hospital for a checkup. And nobody was injured in this accident.

It's definitely obsolete . That doesn't mean it's useless or uncool. People love air-cooled Porsches even though they are absolutely obsolete in every way conceivable.

Joša sam imao 7 godina te ratne 1991. Nisam nikad prije do tad čuo aviona u zraku a kamoli vidio. Ali onda kad sam ovoga čuo i kad je zagromio brate, zapamtio sam ga za cijeli život i uvijek kad ga sad u zraku vidim osjećam strahopoštovanje! OOOO 'MIŽE' STARA KANTO ŽIVIO MI 100 GODINA! SPASIO SI MI MOJU JEDINU RVACKU LJUBIM LI TI SRCE RUSKO :)))
Ja sam imao 5, u Zagrebu ih nismo čuli i vidjeli toliko često koliko drugdje, ali tih par puta, zvuk i pojava su meni kao klincu ostali urezani zauvijek. Kasnije sam zavolio avijaciju i sve vezano za nju, ne zbog Miga21. Na raznim airshow-ima, i van njih, slučajno u preletu, sam do sada vidio svašta, od Gripena, Migova 29, Tornada, F16-ica. I sve je to kul, ali samo Letlampa izaziva to strahopoštovanje od kojeg se svaki put naježim.

@@silverarrow287 tako kad ne započela VRO Oluja prvo što smo učinili smo vam polupali sa MIGovima svu radarsku infrastukturu i komunikacijsku vezu,tako da ste poslje jedino preko zvjezda navodili i komunicirali preko goluba pismonoše.Šta je u tome svemu najbolje mi smo za vrijeme rata izgubili tri aviona a vi preko šezdeset na teritoriju Hrvatskog neba.

the most beautiful fighter jet.... its interesting because soviet design was always utilitarian... yet no other f. jet has this amazing sexy lines...its bulky and slender at the same time. With a good pilot at the controls would have no rivals... best jet fighter of all times.
45 minutes flight time though , so not the best but still cool looking

thank you for posting this. awesome. Very, VERY impressive pass at 1:52...they were fucking LOW looked about 30 feet. At those speeds a simple nudge of the stick can rise or drop you 50 feet in a split second...pure skill

I just saw another video from this airshow with one mig21 with gear problems but it managed to land. You are referring to another mig21 again with gear problems? 2 airplanes with quite similar problems in one airshow? That probably say something about the mechanical manutention.

It's true. This is a video from the return of 2 MiG 21s to Zagreb airport. The only thing is that the camo painted never landed. Due to a problem with the right wheel, the pilot forced the engine to reduce fuel levels. The engine exploded and the plane crashed near the airport. The pilot successfully catapulted

Чем что? Это истребитель 3го поколения. Красивее? А фантом не красивый, а Су-17, а Сааб 37й?.. мне например вообще Ла-5 нравится) Он мне красивее любого мига, и кстати намного надежнее реактивных истребителей) Короче вот я к чему- все относительно. А по поводу красоты, это вообще сугубо индивидуальные предпочтения. Как говориться- о вкусах не спорят)

the mig-21 is awesome,the F/A-18 and the F-14's radars can't see it,and it can run on normal gasoline if needed,but I think it's biggest problem is it can carry only 4 missiles
well it only has four pylons... but theres one setup where the mig 21 bis can carry up to two rockets per pylon which brings it up to eight. Which is not bad if you think of the size of the mig 21 :)
Mayar the F-18 can see many things on it's radar and the F-16 Improved upon that by being able to taget both commissioned and non-commisioned military aircraft and also civilian aircraft if needed also the MIG-21 is a very outdated aircraft but it is easily obtainable in Cambodia you can buy a Squadron of MIG-21s

How come the Mig-21's engine is smokeless but the Mig-29's twin engine smoke trails are visible miles away?
Becouse they are very different engines the Turmansky (mig-21) is a turbojet but the klimov (mig-29) is a turbofan...

Yes the early MiG-29 variants had very smokey turbofan engines which kind of reminds me how smokey those J79 turbojet engines were on the early F-4 Phantom variants.
