LOVED this video! I’m also a visual learner and it was hard for me in school to have someone tell me to do something without actually showing me.
I love the video idea of showing the spacing of highlights. maybe something similar to this video with how you used the black to show the effects of different types of placement like standard(beauty school) vs diagonal, etc. difference between root tap & root smudge.
maybe for haircuts different variations of the same cut? Like different ways to achieve layers, or how to cut a bob and a beveled bob.
Sorry for the long essay 😂 but I really appreciate you & your videos! You definitely make it easy for us to learn & I love it!
I love all you’re ideas for videos! Thank you for your input 👏🏻
I'm not a stylist but I've always been very interested in hair. This was very in depth and I really appreciate it!
What an awesome video. As an educator myself, I really enjoyed watching you demo and explain the difference between these stitches. Kudos all the way!!
Fellow stylist here…GREAT CONTENT!!! 👏🏻 ❤
Could you do a similar video to this with low light placement? :)
Wow, never would've guessed that a slice looks much better than highlight. Thank you!
Not only is this good for newer stylist but longer time ones that never learned newer techniques. I keep my license up but haven’t actually worked in a salon for over 13 yrs. Believe it or not, even back when I went to school they didn’t teach up to date color techniques. And I worked for one of the nicest salons in our city, we almost never had a continuing ed class. I went to hairshows and took a few classes on my own but never gained much confidence. I’m constantly in awe of your knowledge and confidence. Thanks for sharing it with al of us! I’d love to see some cutting videos and maybe a few wedding/dance type updos.
Omg, I can cry right now. You just helped me a ton . Thank you soo much 😭😍🙏🏽😊
Awesome video!!! In school everything tends to go so fast so to be able to see this again is incredibly helpful!!! Thank you!💙
Such a great visual video!!
Thank you 🙏🏻
I am going to attempt highlights at home (YIKES) and this video was so informative! Great Idea to show the differences using black as the color! Brilliant. THANK YOU
This is great content! Can’t tell you how long I’ve been looking for a GOOD visual of the difference between these methods! THANK YOU!!!! 💕💕
This is one of the best visuals I've seen to show different techniques!!!
Thank you so much for making this, I feel like from now on I can communicate better my hairstylist and be clearer on what I want to achieve!
So excited to hear that!
yes girl!!!!!! FINALLY someone breaks it all down....ive been asking for this forever!!
Omg THANK YOU! straight to the point and clearly explained and shown. I spent hours just finding a video that gives a clear guide!
Thank you so much for your meticulous detail, your awesome&got me hooked!
Hairstylist 5 years here! Learned all the basics but I have learned things like balayage and ombré through videos like yours, hairshows & trial and error! Love your videos & have learned a lot from you 😍 btw yes, visual learner here!
Great Video. I’m in cosmology college and this was really helpful ❤😊
This tutorial was so freaking good! I just wish that it was demonstrated on black hair in stead of blonde. But you did an amazing job exaplaing it.
You helped with EVERY question I had !!! I literally love your life I needed a major refresher
It's almost maddening how many different terms there are, it's so helpful to SEE the difference. A girl in school constantly used used terms like "baby lights" and "teasy lights" and I'm sitting there like "???!" But, I love highlighting so much I want to learn every aspect of it. Thanks for video!
I would love a video on different ways to foil a mohawk and how these stitches look on a mohawk section!
This is one of the best hair videos I’ve seen- thank you so much!!
This is truly so informational!! Thank youuuuuu
Thank you so much for doing a video like this. Im in cosmetology school and I'll be doing a hands on test for highlights. Explained and help me truly understand and will help me explain to my client :) a million thank youssss!!!
This was an AMAZING visual!!! Thank you so much! If you can do a similar video but with the hair brought up to see how it would lay in a pony or up-style, that would be a great complementing video!
Thank you for this video. I've been trying to figure out what would suit me more; babylights or highlights. Definitely the babylights. So subtle and with the right colour will look like sun-kissed hair.
your salon is so cute! been out of the field for a while but was never really good at highlights but getting back into it and want to refresh my techniques and ideas on how to achieve these looks
I can't believe no one has commented on which of the 4 sections they like the best! I can't decide between either the traditional highlight weave or the regular slice that I like best. I'm curious to see what others like, so hopefully someone will chime in.
You did a great job explaining everything in your video. I'm a beauty school drop out :( but I still highlight/slice/cut my own hair. It was about 10years ago when I was in Cosmetology school. I wish there were videos like this when I was a student. I may have actually finished if there were. I just remember being in school and the instructors would do a quick explanation of what they wanted us to do, and it was hard to understand. I am a visual learner as well as a lot of these people in your comments. I remember doing highlights in school and the instructors telling me to "add a slice in after every few rows of weaves to achieve a more all over blonde." I had no idea what they were talking about even after them saying "you just apply color to the whole section. " It wasn't until a few years ago, while putting highlights in my hair... I wanted to do my hair fast and just add a few quick HL's in to blend in with my new growth, and while sectioning my hair for the weaves I thought I might as well do this whole piece instead of weaving the highlights, that it dawned on me; "OHH THAT'S WHAT A SLICE IS!!!" Sorry for the long comment, and thanks again for the great video. It's very much appreciated by all. Keep up the great work!
I'm not a stylist, but this is also great for the client (like me) who doesn't know how to explain what she wants. Thank you! Great job explaining! And the visual says it all!
This was such a helpful tutorial thank you!!! Over here trying to research ways to blend my harsh root with my platinum blonde hair during quarantine 😂
Very helpful😮
Thank you so much 😊
Ha ha! ".... bald patchery"☺️ I just love you! You are such a great teacher. It's super cool of you to take the time to upload these teaching videos to help everyone improve their craft. Oh, and the salon looks fabulous! 😊
Hahaha I like to keep it real 😂 Thank you as always!
Thank you so much! This is the most helpful video EVER!!
Thank you for watching ❤️
oh my gosh. I've looked for hours for a video like yours!!!!! thank you thank you thank you
thank u for doing this it helps me more since i also visual learner
I love that you are so mindful of where you do your placement when coloring hair because I feel like so many times, there are spots on the head that doesn't necessarily need coloring IF you color it in the right spots to show off. I need you to do my hair!
It’s all about placement!
Thank you 😊. I could pick your knowledge filled brain forever!! Any visual tutorials you put up...I’m watching!! They’re all very helpful. Thank you again 😃
Thank you SO much for making this video! It took a lot of self talk to get past your Halloween nails but I’m relieved to say I DID learn something and I’m a huge fan and very grateful
Thanks for making this video so informative! 🤗
this is the video i was looking for, thanks!
Hi I am from India and running Salon like you and it's really good to see your techniques for highlights.thanks
Just found you , you make every technique clear, Brilliant thank you
Excellent. Thank you for the details ❤❤❤
I may be the only one lol but I just graduated cosmetology school and would love to see your methods of cutting and coloring. I know how they teach 180 is different from of a lot of the ways people actually do a layered cut. So I would love to see your interpretation of beauty school basics.
There are a ton of new hairstylists or people in school watching my videos, so excited to have another one!!! Never stop learning!
Wow! What an excellent video. Thank you so much. This makes so much sense now.
Awesome explanation and video!
Great info! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
Excelente explicación. Muchas gracias un saludo de Perú. ❤
Loved this ! I'm a visual learner as well.
Can you do a video on the placement of all the stitches you showed. And also include the inspo picture that a client might take for that specific look. Thanks this was very helpful
Wow. The most educational video I've seen! Omg! Ty.
Full head of highlights!! Or highlight and lowlight. I still have a lot of guests that ask for that 😊
great video!
could you do a part two video that explains the hair you sliced out or weaved out in between? how much hair to not include in the foil to avoid the stripey look? as well as how much spacing between the foils (hair that does not get foiled)? also by including different patterns like diagonal, vertical and horizontal placements
looked everywhere for a video like this!!!!!! so so so helpful thank you
You’re amazing! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
Congrats on your New Salon! Love your videos! You are so clear and communicate so well!!! ❤️
Shout out from a fellow stylist in Santa Clarita ,That was a great video and congrats on your new place 👍
Oh . My. Word! THANK YOU!!! I totally needed this because it is hard for me to look at a picture and define what is going on sometimes!!
Thank you so much for sharing this!!
Thank you so much for this great video!

Wow! Super helpful video. I’ve been wondering what these terms meant.
Thank you so much for this video. Very visual and informative like I needed
This is my favorite video so far! 💖
Thank you!!!!
Love this tutorial! 💕👏
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! REALLY HELPS ME UNDERSTAND!
Great demo!!
super helpful! thank you!! i would love a tutorial of haircuts like this!
Great visuals I loved this. I only wish she. Oils have done a couple foils for each section so we could really see how it lays on top of each foil underneath it. But with that said this is amazing and I love it!
Amazing video!
thank you i needed that!
What an amazing video!!! thank you so much for sharing your knowledge :)
Amazing job !!!! This brought lots of understanding!!!thank you
I LOVE this video!!! So educational!
Great video. So easy to see the difference ☺️
This is so incredibly helpful! Thank you! Can these be used for placing lowlights? Also, can you do a video on foil placement and how that affects the overall look especially how to make a traditional weave look less 90s chunk?
Typically lowlights are sliced (from my experience) and for highlights just do a medium to fine weave. That’s what I do and my clients never look chunky
Very helpful... Thanks you ❤
Seriously so grateful for you sharing this! I am currently a cosmetology student but school is usually too busy to get this kind of one on one! And I can honestly say this information was really necessary! Do you have any videos on placement? I am struggling with knowing what parting will lead to what kind of placement. Thank you so much!
Bravo woman you nailed it ¡
This was so helpful. Always a reference video❤️
Beautifully made video! Thank you!
I am so glad that you did this it is so explanatory I watched it I don't know when I watch this but I had to come back because I decided to get my here blonde Or highlights but wasn't sure what style I know they have Balyage hair coloring But this is what I'm taking to my hair stylists have send it to one already and show them what should be best for my here coloring at this time thank you again or explaining slice baby slice highlights and baby lights
Great video ❤️🙏
thank you Mae, very clear =)
foil placement video please
I loved this! It would be great to see the same concept for balayage. How each balayage technique gets desired results - sun kissed to ombré to sombre etc. Thanks!
Visual layouts are a great way to understand what color we can choose!
Excelente, Thank you!
Thank you this was really helpful!💜
That was excellent. Great job!!!
Could you do a video on how you place slices x
Im Not a hairstylist but I’ve been doing color self taught for 12 years since I was a teen I’ve been playing with it on extensions thanks for this
Good idea!
Hi Alexis! Thank you for making a video dedicated to the differences of these highlights. I feel like you did a great job showing comparing the 4 sides of the head! as well as the two sides applied on both sides. Do you think you could add the description of them hovering on the video? I’m getting a little mixed up on screen. Or maybe you already have some labeled side by side! I’ll investigate your contents 😁
Thank you so much for this! love your education videos
So happy to help!
