  • Martin's OM-28 is a classic model that is now part of Martin's revamped Standard Series. Built with Indian rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top, the guitar fuses vintage and modern designs. In this video, Peghead Nation co-founders Teja Gerken and Scott Nygaard demonstrate the guitar.

I bought this guitar last summer. I've yet to find any 21st guitar that sounds as good to my ears. Easy to play, looks beautiful and sophisticated, and incredible tone. Can't put it down!

I've got a D-18 that I love and I think this guitar would be an amazing complement to it!

Nice review and performance!! I love OM-28 standard. Nowadays I like mahogany back and sides especially playing single note because of mids. So I hope Martin company will produce OM cutaway mahogany back and sides with black smoke white guard such as DSS-17.

Hi, nice sounding guitar and really awesome playing (as usual). If the string spacing at the bridge is 2 and 5/16th (as mentioned in the video) it's indeed really good for fingerstyle. If it is 2 and 5/32th (all martin new standard series seem to have that), well, I 'm not found of it to play fingerstyle ; where OMs shine (but I suppose they chose that for flatpickers ).To me the 2 and 5/32th is better for larger body guitars as dreads but that's just my opinion cos I play a lot fingferstyle. Cheers.

Why do demonstrations always have dropped or chordal tunings? This has a tendency to make even poor quality guitars sound better.

Well if the playing is like this guy here, it works for me to demo the guitar. It’s a finger style / song writer kind of guitar, meant to be played like this. I think you can forget about poor quality if you watch videos of high end Martins. Don’t change anything!
