My wife woke me up in a panic with a swollen finger.
We tried string and dish soap but it failed.

Great instructions!! I was out the door to the hospital to take my wife to the hospital when I came upon your video. My wife mistakenly put her wedding ring and band on her finger opposite hand. All last night we tried to remove her wedding ring which we did. However, the band was stuck and her finger was really swollen. We thought maybe to try again this morning in case her finger was less swollen.. not the case. It was beyond applying the chemicals so I followed you cutting direction and it worked!! Thank you so much you save us a trip to the ER and most importantly my wife’s finger is not damaged.

This worked. Had ring on for over 20 years and over 20 pounds ago. String thing not working, lubricant not working and was just ready to get it off my pudgy finger. With your instructions I cut it off and yeah! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your video! I had literally tried everything! The dental floss, ice bath, Vaseline and nothing worked! I really didn’t want to destroy my ring and then my finger started going blue and I tried your video as my last attempt before going to the doctor and I had wire cutters and needle nose pliers and was able to get it off quick and clean with minimal damage! So thank you for saving me a trip to the emergency room x

Just wanted to say thanks, I found my 15yo son sitting on the kitchen floor at 2am with his finger in a glass of ice water and I had no idea why, found out it was because he got a ring stuck on his finger and couldn’t get it off, but had been trying to “fix it himself” for half a hour. It was a very stressful 20 minutes until I got the tin snips and cut it off. I don’t think I would have had the confidence to cut the ring myself without seeing your very straight forward example. Thank you.

Just got my round nose pliers, cut my ring and then used the long nose pliers to open it up. Just as you instructed, it worked like a charm, no E.R. and no Jeweler!!!

Thanks Shawn!!!! This video was amazing!!!! Ring was stuck nothing else on CZcams worked, the ring is one of my favorite and I was going to be devastated if I had to destroy it. I went to Lowes bought a wire cutter and a set of needle nose pliers spent 15 bucks. It was well worth the buy!!

thank you my, found my ring wouldn't come off middle of the night... claustrophobia set in. didn't think diagonal cutters would cut off my ring. worked like a charm. Word of caution edges are very sharp, scratched my finger. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!

Thank you! I used the chapstick and it worked! Took a couple minutes, kept putting the chapstick around the knuckle and turning the ring back & forth & it finally came off!

Thanks Finally. This is how I did it.
Problem for me was that my ring was thicker than the ring in your video. It was an old silver ring .
I managed to find a needle nose plyers.
I couldn't get complete under it because it was so tight.
But I managed to clip away little by little.
Then I found my glue gun.
I heated up my glue gun ( without any glue sticks) Then I used that to soften the silver .
When it was soft enough the plyers worked .
22 years that ring was on my finger.

For the very thick and large ring, it take a dremmel to cut in two the thick ring.

Hello Shawn. I have to stop by thank you so much. I had a lucky ring on my ring finger on my right hand, and my finger was swollen. I was about to use a Dremel to cut it off me. However, I figured there was a smarter way to do this, and you had the answer. I thought about the Electric flyers, but didn’t think it would work. However, I wasn’t thinking gold is a softer metal. It took me about 10 minutes to get it off my finger. Thank you so much for your video! You were such a great help, and I really appreciate you. Thank you so much!

Many have found that video very useful including a desperate dad in Wales, ENGLAND whose 4 year old daughter got a frying pan hole in the handle stuck on her finger and my non destructive techniques work great without the costs afterwards of repair or worse!
Feeling exhausted after trying many other means, I resorted to cutting my wife's wedding ring in the way you demonstrated. It worked in less than half a minute. Thank you so much!

If you really need it off you can find dog toe nail clippers and cut the ring off it does work
Oh my goodness I just saw a doctor sadistically take 12 mins to cut a ring off. The lady was soo calm I dont know how ... I put a bandaid on too tight when I was a kid and woke up screaming it hurt soo bad but her fingure was reddish purple and I was getting soo sick and upset.
Tfs and doing what I would have done cut it off in 2 seconds!

What if the ring is thicker?
Doesn't cold cause metal to shrink? I feel like we couldn't get a pin to a backup bucket one time and threw it in the shops freezer and it went in perfect without even barely having to beat It. So now you just shrunk this ring on your finger.
What if the ring is really wide and thick?
I wore my wedding ring last night. My finger is now swollen n can't get it off. Will try your tips.
The dental floss trick works as well. This should be tryed before cutting the ring
better solution is i think to just cut it, if you try dental floss you can make your finger really big and blue so its the best to cut

Cooking oil (Mazola) or washing up liquid (Fairy). Never fails.
My wedding ring is a wide band yellow 14k gold. Will I be able to cut that? Going to try your water trick first.
Tried with several sized cutters and only made dents in the gold.

Why would you not use a a "Ring cutter"

Slide a price of silk ribbon , then slide the end of the ribbon underneath the ring the part of the ring where you have more room to manoeuvre, then go ahead and wrap the ribbon around your finger and tell you take that swelling and you wrap it up really tight going up to the knuckle and maybe a little over, then take a little butter lard or or something non-toxic to humans that is grease based. Then take the little piece of ribbon you threaded through the ring and wind round anticlockwise until the ring slowly starts to sleep if your finger over the knuckle and off your finger without having any tools involved!
