a vast amount of the misconceptions we have current today arise from that linear understanding of 'progress' through time. these videos covering the evolution side of all this are just fabulous. thanks astrid
The main issue is that we are self referential animals, we project the concept of order to appease our cognitive discomfort.Nice content, keep the good work.
Great discussion; the closing comment reminds me strongly of an idea running through some otherwise-unrelated reading I've been doing: Graeber & Wengrow's The Dawn of Everything spends a lot of effort attempting to unwind teleological assumptions in cultural anthropology and other social sciences which seem to still be interfering with realistic analysis of topics like authoritarianism and economic exploitation, and which the authors admit are structural parts of their received frames and so remain very difficult to grapple with.
Right here I think we have a major difference between science and pseudoscience, that being the sentiment "we were wrong, how cool is that??"

What you're talking about is local Darwinism, the fittest to the area. As species evolved, the goodness of fit expanded, to fit environmental changes.
Chur. Nice Pounamu pendant btw 🤙
