Sometimes I don't know if messing with the spawning algorithm hurts or helps me and so I tend to just play reactively instead of pre-placing blocking roads. Plus for me it makes me feel cheaty lol... Very interesting hearing the commentary and thought process though! Great run at it!

That was a tough one. I made triple and quadruple roads that looped all over so that traffic didn’t have to cross over but merge into loops but it didn’t help much. The vehicles always chose the worst routes and all jammed up in one or two areas ignoring the clear routes. This new week challenge is better. You start with all interstates, unlimited tunnels. Problem of course is eventually the surge kills you. Every store could have the optimal number of connections and all unimpeded but that’s not good enough. They want more cars than can be serviced. Cars can’t get in fast enough. But I made it to the #16 spot. I keep at each level until I’m in the 1%, that’s my goal.

Well, if Retro resets, you know it will be tough... I know you don't like spawn-proofing, but consider putting roads around mountains - in that case you won't get isolated houses and you'll always hava a way around.

What if you just block everything off right as the map expands (maybe only leaving house spaces and no extra space for markets) then after the map has fully expanded, you can just sit back and afk farm points?

Probably not, because shops will demand more and more cars and you couldn't feed them. But I never played it, so maybe there's an option

@@ololo518 you could allow spawning of houses but block off enough space to stop shops from spawning

@@zijkhal8356 Those clould definitely help, some people consider that cheating though. But I don't know if that could make perpetum mobile playthrough. I think that Retro said once that there is certain amount of pips, so if you have f.e 10 to serve with one shop or with 10 shops it will be different play (I mean one color shops).

The starting strat was clean, up until the dark blue I think I was good! Next time this challenge comes up I'll be sure to block that colour.

why not get the first yellow going with its 4 houses then just fill the map with roads so nothing else can spawn. Ride the yellow with 4 houses to victory.

the game will ask for more and more traffic and will eventually outscale the pace that the houses can provide (even if they're right beside the destination). You need the extra houses and destinations to keep up with demand and distribute the load across different structures! :)
