Great info. Room acoustics have a huge influence on the PA sound so depending on your specific application you may want to consider tackling that first before spending $$$ on speakers.

Haven’t watched the video yet but I was at a church Saturday for a funeral. So beautiful, stained glass, wood ceilings. Had a speaker I’ve never seen. Pretty sure it was an ev and they only had the one speaker, hanging very high from the center of the room. It was bidirectional, like an array but just one speaker. Interesting.

In an old church building (built before PA systems existed) attempting to retrofit better sound: Sanctuary shaped like the bottom half of a diamond with a dome on top of it. Stage is at the bottom point of diamond and the dome at the top (like an ice cream cone) is back of sanctuary. The easiest way to get speakers high would be to mount at the mid-point (where the diamond bottom meets dome shaped back of sanctuary). Would it be bad to mount speakers on the extreme right and left sides of sanctuary? Essentially they would be firing perpendicular to the pulpit/front of stage. They would each be firing toward the center aisle of the room. Thoughts anyone?

Hi folks I'm looking for a good external microphone for my mobile phone to record practice and Sunday morning worship. We only have a analogue system all instruments are plugged through the system except the acoustic drums. Many thanks Nigel

Would centering a JBL PRX915XLF towards the audience on the floor splitting 2 JBL PRX12's (we would like to mount these horizontally if possible due to space and due to the roof and beams being metal) 14ft in the air in front of the stage but still 4ft in front of the audience in a closed auditorium 63ft deep (from the speakers) and 58ft wide (can seat 250) - provide adequate sound coverage?

One question: what does that mean with “a” (timestamp) and “c” weighted(?) … I don’t know if I understand it right. There are multiple times where you talk about “a” and “c” “weighted”…

"What humans are physically capable of hearing is represented by the A-Weighting curve. Acoustic sound contains more lower and higher frequencies than humans perceive. The C-Weighting curve represents what humans hear when the sound is turned up; we become more sensitive to the lower frequencies."

I have a question regarding subwoofers. The little church that I work with had installed a subwoofer on the back end of the stage and it's not a very big stage but it's where the base amp and drum kit reside. I thought 'why do we have a subwoofer right next to the base amp?' So I moved the sub to a tiny room off the side of the stage. I wanted to get it far enough away. Generally speaking do you think this was a good choice on my part? Thanks!
