I finally got to listen to your album front to back, both it and the single from last month are ⚡️ 🔥❤️ I don’t have words. I heard the tracks before so I knew i loved the tracks, but I didn’t realize how well the album would flow front to back as a complete journey before. Cohesive like movements of the same symphony. As good as you are at bass, you rate just as highly as a composer. A lot of virtuosos are pretty good composers too, and can put out great tracks, but this felt more like you’re at the Keith Jarrett or Zappa level with the overall improvisation/composition/vision once I heard it back to back.
I hope to hear lots more of your compositions whether they are bass tracks, albums, soundtracks, etc. I only heard other people talk about what a brilliant bass player you are. If you keep on like this, people will be talking about what a wonderful composer you are too. I mention this because when I saw the new bass bow, I immediately imagined what you would do with a string quartet + your new bass and my imagination went a little wild thinking on it. 😂
The top comment shouldn’t be about the title. It wasn’t a click bait, it’s just the other sense of “play.” Imagine what she’s capable of doing with that and let her cook a bit!

Let's hear it! If you like the NS, you might wanna try one of the Yamaha's. Supposedly the most realistic electric "upright."
I have a cheaper Czech made 4 string NXT model without the individual string pickups. They are cool Instruments. When I first got mine I had been playing electric for a long time so I used my my two finger technique. I later studied with an upright master who taught me proper arco technique as well as a traditional right hand side plucking/sweeping technique with one finger...which is supposed to work well for getting a real attack out of a traditional wood bass. .Then I developed my own treble picking technique with that one finger. I think this bass you have allows you to play either way. You can get straps that you can adjust to play more in an electric bass position (I think ?) My personal experience is that traditional jazz purists do not like the sound of this bass. Lol. But its great for a lot of situations. I have always found trad. upright basses cumbersome and difficult to haul around so I have never owned one. Just practiced on one for awhile to get the techniques. Anyways..just thought I would share that. I watched your clips and you sound awesome on this bass ! Congrats on your new instrument.
I have an NXT too. Love it! Play it through an EBS Stanley Clarke preamp that really makes the piezo mic shine.

Can you slap on that upright bass?? What does the sound?? Is similar like slapping on fretless bass??
Really you need frets to get the classic slap sound.
Ive seen a one fret bass , nearly fretless , the one fret was added at the 24th fret just to get the sound.

Edgar Meyer changed my opinion on what is technically possible with an instrument like this. He must have five thumbs on each hand. Entertaining video. Surely it’s going to make sounds it didn’t know was possible with Mohini in the drivers seat. I’m excited to hear what she comes up with on this…
