- It's not a new kid on the block but I do seem to have missed ever jumping behind the wheel of the Alfa Romeo 4C so what better than to head to Italy to give the Spider a run out and see what it's all about!
Featuring a 1.75 liter 4 cylinder turbo engine with 240PS and 350Nm, but weighing just 940kg dry (1080kg wet), it makes for quite an interesting car with a carbon tub and a 6-speed double-clutch gearbox but at a much lower price point than you might expect of 'just' £58,400 to start.

Now take a look at the 8C tuned Disco Volante, sexiest car ever.
911s are super sports cars. And for the same reason the ZR1 or Z06 aren't supercars. They're based on run of the mill sports cars.

I own a low milage 4C Coupe, I love it. It is the closest thing to riding my super bikes that I have driven, it makes you feel alive, brilliant, puts a big grin on your face.
Light + enough horse power + sexy looks = FUN!!!

Ouch! No love for this 4c on your review. You didn't even put the car in race mode. As a 4c owner I will say nothing puts a better smile on your face more then driving this car for 2 hours on a Sunday! Carbon fiber tub mid Italian car for the price point it's amazing! It's a weekend go kart! You forgot to mention that!

From factory you can spec an Akrapovic exhaust on the new 4C's which sounds pretty awesome for a 4 cylinder engine and changes the wow factor of the car as well in my opinion
I've been fortunate enough to drive a 4C, and I have to say the sports exhaust makes a HUGE difference. You get those upshift "burps" that really add to the experience.
It has a very nice exhaust sound,with the optional race exhaust with no mufflers.Its not fitted in this car you tested unfortunately
I'm waiting to see if these will depreciate to a reasonable price eventually. I drove one once briefly and it was pretty fun but if you want an actual affordable and lightweight mid-engine car, a used Lotus Elise seems like a better buy.

What about the Alfa Romeo Gulia Quadrifoglio? Its like the Ferrari Sedan (Engine built by Ferrari) with 510hp. And its a fucking beast on the track. All that here in Germany for just 59k € (base price is 72k € here in Germany but many dealers start at 59k € new)

well when a 4c passes by in town it makes a certain low rumble among buildings and usually makes me turn my head and look.
The new Alpine A110 should be interesting compared to the 4C.
Hey Shmee, I was wondering. Would you ever be interested in doing something in the project car area? You have all these beautiful new cars, which I absolutely love watching. But would you be interested getting something like, i dont know, an used Golf R, or a sporty Mini or something like that. Something that isnt too too expensive and turn into a power house, or a track car in which you would do track days. Something like that? I dont know to what extent you are capable as a car builder ( I have never done it), but maybe like building a car with someone who knows the stuff, and you learning about it and just having fun could make for an interesting content. Anyways, just a thought. Enjoy what you, we certainly enjoy watching it, Cheers.

this is a sports car because its performance is within the sports car range. It is however an exotic sports car but this isnt a supercar. The lotus Esprit Turbo is a super car, However this is obviously faster than the Esprit. Reason for this is the Esprit was a super car for its day, but this isnt.

I personaly love that car because it is just an outlaw of all the big cars with big weight and big engines. That just spoiles the handling and character. That's why i also love the Donkervoort D8 GTO and the lotus exige S
regardless of how much it costs or how heavy it is I wouldn't be paying 60 grand for a 1.75l 4 cylinder engine. The car that could have been great. needed a 6 cylinder minimum.

Here in our country) the price of the 4c is more expensive than the GTR.
I'm interested in this, I now have a Opel Speedster (VX220) compressor which is a joy to drive 308hk for 860kg. But, it's not very comfortable, waterproof, practical.
So this could be my next ride.
I have this stateside and love it. Compared to my Elise, the interior is quite good. But the US version comes standard with full leather including the doors.

If this thing had a manual it would be perfect ffs, I love the 4c, I’ve ridden in one, but for the money I’d rather get a lotus Elise for better driver engagement and focus... unless they make a manual version ofc

GTR Wendy tha carbon tub was too expensive to engineer, test and build. that's why the car is kind of expensive. i personally don't find it expensive because think about it: if you want a car with a carbon tub you're gonna spend millions (p1, laferrari and co.) or you can buy a 4c😎

Looks very much like a modern version of my VX220. It looks a lovely car, its just over priced and no manual option. That auto gearbox seems too slow to feel really connected to it. I'm not a massive fan of the engine note, although the turbo noise and blurg is cool, but engine does sound a bit like a hairdryer.

No mention of the "frunk" (front trunk)?? Wanted to see if it can be opened up or something, heard its locked shut - engine in the middle that space could really come in handy.
brtnspn that is correct. The front panel lines are fake. There is no front trunk at all. Even window washer fluid must be filled by using a hose and siphoned into a spot hiding above where the front trunk would be in the cowling.
I hate when people complain about the interior quality. The point is to save weight, this is no Porsche. No one complains about a shoddy interior in a Lotus so why now?

That engine sound makes me cry...there is just nothing and you hear it constant struggle on the revs. Nice looking thing, but why didnt they pop in at least 2.0L and make it a propper thing.

Justin Hart Elise doesn't have a carbon tub. The cars are quite different.
