    Smashing the glass is Not about the destruction of the Temple. That's a falsehood. It was a German custom to keep the bad spirits away from the bride and groom on the day of the wedding. Rabbi Eliezer ben Natan of Mainz mentioned this in the medieval times, in 12th century.

    • @michellelansky4490

    Happy anniversary. Is the wedding the first time you touch each other? Is the reception a time for singles even though separated 'future spouse shopping?' How does the reception end? Does the couple say? Or MC? A time limit? When does the bed chamber ritual happen?
    Our LDS engagements are similarly short. I met in person my suitor in early September. We were engaged end of September. Circumstances I could not see him until before my wedding. Married in sacred temple ceremony 3 months later. Still married 27 years though will say there will be hard patches ahead but stay committed to your contract or covenants even if you would not and time fixes things.

    • @lindaversil1121
      @lindaversil1121 Před 11 měsíci

      Reception not time for singles since they have to be researched before and the dates set up by a shadchan matchmaker. You can’t just meet randomly. The couple never touch til after they are married. There is usually a time limit when the band leaves and dinner is finished and people start to leave. There is no bed chamber ritual in Judaism.

They had been fasting all day and are starving. When they finish they go out to take pictures because now they are allowed to touch and afterwards they dance with everyone. No intimacy goes on in the seclusion room. There is no bed in there. Just a table and chairs to eat their dinner alone

    I find that dating for only 3 months literally unbelievable. Especially with added restrictions put on the couples. I just don’t see how you can possibly know someone that you are to spend the rest of your life with, well enough after 3 months. Also in non-Jewish weddings, one of the best and most emotional parts are when brides dance with their fathers. Calling dancing with the opposite sex, “intimate”, is beyond comprehension to me. Especially in front of a room full of people. Same with modesty clothing. Seems like lots of trust issues to me.
