    Don, you must be the only person who can make me just itch to start a gong fu sesh just before bedtime and risk my entire night's sleep, just listening to your tasting notes..

    Sounds like this one is right up my alley. I prefer bold flavors that I don't have to search for so much.

    Love the cover painting ♥: it somehow reminds me a lot of vintage Penguin paperbacks ... but can't put my finger on it; must be the colours. It looks like something that might be found on a novel from the early 20th century.

    Looks like Don broke up about 10--15% of that 200-g cake. 20--30 grams of tea in a session? Are my eyes deceiving me? Or is Don just a beast?

    Surely this tea would be better reviewed by the Pu Boys as they are slated as the experts on PuErh tea.

    So this is tea tree tea? Not sure I ever had that, I just know tea tree oil.

    • @killers31337
      @killers31337 Před 2 měsíci +2

      No, it's from the same species of plant as normal tea. Just a varietal which produces a big tree, not a bush.

    • @Broockle
      @Broockle Před 2 měsíci

      @@killers31337 .......o.... well that gets confusing doesn't it 😆
      thx
      It's only been like 3 years since I got over how we call it tea even if there's not tea in it.
      I used to think the hindi 'chai', chinese 'cha' are more prone to actually refer to the tea plant. But no, they use the word just like we use 'tea'. That was very disillusioning to me.

    • @killers31337
      @killers31337 Před 2 měsíci

      @@Broockle I'm afraid you've got confused.
      Camelia sinensis is the tea plant. It is what normal tea is made of. In China it's called chá shù, a tea plant/tea tree. That's the original one.
      "Tea-tree" of "tea tree oil" fame is a completely different plant. Or, rather, plants. People used it for replacement for a real tea, from wikipedia:
      > The common name "tea tree" has been applied to species in the genera Leptospermum, Melaleuca, Kunzea, and Baeckea because the sailors on the Endeavour used the leaves of a shrub from one of these groups as a replacement for tea (Camellia sinensis) during Captain James Cook's 1770 voyage to Australia.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melaleuca#Etymology
      It should have been called pseudo-tea-tree, perhaps...
      I guess it would make sense to stop calling these replacement "tea-tree", but cosmetics industry probably finds it easier to sell "tea tree oil" than "Melaleuca oil".

      @@killers31337 i thought all tree bushes become trees as they get older. I do not think its a different variety. The tea trees are 100- 300 year old tea plants if i remember correctly from don's tea documentaries....

    • @Laura-je2uw
      @Laura-je2uw Před 2 měsíci +2

      Tea tree is also known as melaleuca and it is a plant that is native to australia. It is a completely different variety than the tea plant camelia sinensis.
